Gay Awareness Glee Episode in Planning Stages

Glee creator Ryan Murphy is planning to devote an upcoming episode of the show to bullied gay teenagers following the recent suicides of tormented youths in America.

The writer is hoping the hit program, which features a gay high school student played by Chris Colfer, will show fans struggling with their sexuality how to cope with any taunts aimed at them.

The news comes in the wake of a string of apparent suicides linked to sexuality and bullying - and castmember Matthew Morrison is welcoming the awareness episode.

He tells E! Online, "Ryan wants to do an episode about it, which I think is very smart of him. As a cast I don't know much we can do. That's why I think an episode would be great... Ryan is very current with staying on the times, so I think it would be this season if it were to happen."

Actor Kevin McHale adds, "It's sad that it's taken these past few weeks and horrible tragedies to really let people know what's going on. I think being in our position and Ryan taking that on is great... Hopefully we can move the general public and let the kids and the parents watching the show know that everybody deserves to be loved."

The most recent suicide, the death of 18-year-old Tyler Clementi last week, sparked outrage after it was revealed his college roommate allegedly posted footage of him having sex with another man online.
