MUZOPHILE: The Decade Collection #1

So for my final blog posting of 2009, I am pleased to share with you the #1 song in the "MUZOPHILE: The Decade Collection" of his favorite 100 dance club mixes from this decade.

There is no other better singer or song which should be on top of his chart. It is no other than Madonna's "Music" (Hex Hector Club Remix) from Y2K.

Here's what Muzo had to say about is top choice:

There are so many reasons why this track tops the MUZOPHILE Decade Collection: Top 100 Club Tracks of the 2000s...first off, it comes from the Queen of Dance, so it seems fitting lol, plus - I remember the very first time I ever heard the original, the first time I heard it remixed on a dance floor - the number of times I've seen her reinvent this track live...how it made me feel..and made me move each time!

Plus, it embodies so much of my core being - dance, music, connecting with others through music.

There were a ton of remixes done - you can check them out on www.iTunes.com or www.Amazon.com. I always liked the HQ2 remix the best (vid below).

10 years later, this track has stood the test of time and remains a true club anthem, Muzo's no. 1 of the 2000s. Happy new year, y'all! xoxo muzo

Hey Mr. DJ, put a record on...

Thanks Muzo for sharing such great music with us!

Lady Gaga Would Love to Work with Susan Boyle

Lady Gaga is astonished by the success of Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who became a worldwide sensation after appearing on UK reality TV talent show Britain’s Got Talent. The "Bad Romance" singer said she hopes they can collaborate on a song in the future.

“I love Susan Boyle," she said. "She is my woman of the year. She has achieved more in this year than most artists will in a lifetime. This time last year nobody even knew who she was and now she is knocking the world’s most established artists off the album and singles charts.

“Our styles are different. I don’t know if we could work together, but never say never. It would be great to work with somebody of that talent.”

The 23-year-old star said she had watched the clip of Susan singing on the show where she surprised the judges, including music mogul Simon Cowell, with her voice a “thousand times.” “Every time I see Simon Cowell’s face it makes me laugh out loud," she told The Sun newspaper. "He thinks he knows everything but even he wasn’t expecting that.”

The "Paparazzi" hitmaker is not the only star to express an interest in performing with the ‘Wild Horses’ singer. Rapper 50 Cent has previously said he wants to work on a track with her, while opera star Andrea Bocelli is to team up with Susan on a song for new UK TV talent show Pop Star to Opera Star.

Susan's debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, was the fastest-selling debut LP ever released by a woman and is currently neck-and-neck with Taylor Swift's Fearless for the top-selling album of 2009.

“Gays In Film”

We all know about LGBT classics like Brokeback Mountain, Making Love and Personal Best but what makes this video of gays in film really interesting is some of the really early films that had same-sex moments.

This is a quick history of the medium and it’s representation of homosexuals in cinema over the last 100 years. The music is Something To Talk About by Badly Drawn Boy.

Greg from
http://greginhollywood.com/ shared this retrospective on his blog and I am compelled to do the same here. Enjoy!

Rosie O'Donnell Steps Out with New Girlfriend

Rosie O'Donnell is off the market!

The comedian and former TV talk show host – who in mid-November revealed that her longtime partner Kelli Carpenter moved out of their home two years ago – is now dating Tracy Kachtick-Anders, a Texas-based artist, O'Donnell's rep has confirmed.

The pair were spotted walking hand-in-hand in Miami Beach on Tuesday.

Last month, when asked if she was enjoying the single life, O'Donnell, 47, said, "I'm not. But on we grow, so to speak."

And in October, in an interview with http://www.examiner.com/, Kachtick-Anders said, "Maybe for a future plan, I'd like a date with an inspiring woman!"

Like O'Donnell, Kachtick-Anders is active in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender parenting and adoption issues. She launched Open Arms Campaign, a non-profit organization to recruit and foster adoptive families that targets the LGBT community. "I have become an activist and work to educate everyone, not only about the plight of foster children," she wrote on TheRainbowBabies.com, "but also the inequality that faces LGBT people in their quest to create families." Kachtick-Anders has six children, five of whom are adopted, according to the Examiner.com.

O'Donnell, meanwhile, is gearing up for the airing on HBO in late January of A Family Is A Family Is A Family: A Rosie O'Donnell Celebration, a documentary that challenges the traditional ideas of family.

Tom Ford Family Tragedy Re-enacted In Film

Designer-turned-moviemaker Tom Ford had a lot of personal drama to draw from for the suicide scene in his acclaimed new film A Single Man - it took place in his own family.

Colin Firth plans his suicide in the movie after losing his longtime partner, played by fellow Brit Matthew Goode, and Ford admits the tragedy of the movie seems authentic because he actually experienced a relative's similar dreadful death.

He said in a recent interview, "The suicide in the story comes from my family. There was a suicide that really took place in my family. It was exactly that re-enacted in the film by Colin's character with the suit and cufflinks laid out, and how he zipped himself into a sleeping bag because he didn't want to make a mess.

"I remember very vividly that there were darkly comic moments because what are you gonna do when these things happen to you in your life."

The show has become a massive hit worldwide and there are currently eight productions of Wicked onstage, including one in London and Japanese-language and German-language productions.

A Dutch-language production of the musical is scheduled to open in 2011.

Brad Pitt for Sherlock Holmes Sequel?

Guy Ritchie is keen to sign up Brad Pitt to star in the sequel to Sherlock Holmes, according to reports.

The director, who worked alongside Pitt in 2000's Snatch, was rumoured to have considered the actor for a cameo role in the new big screen adaptation of the famous detective stories.

But Ritchie is now thought to be eyeing Pitt for the role of Holmes' arch enemy Professor Moriarty in the follow-up movie.

Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. have both reportedly already signed up for the second installment.

A source tells PopEater.com, "The director, Guy Ritchie, loves Brad. He has worked with him before and thinks he is one of the most underrated actors working today. Guy knows that everyone thinks of as a Pitt as a pretty boy and can't wait to turn him into the world's greatest supervillain. It will definitely make the sequel a must-see."

Levi-Bristol Custody Fight Open to the Public

Levi Johnston has won an early battle in the custody war over his 1-year-old son Tripp with Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol Palin.

A judge in the case has sided with Johnston, who had asked that the court proceedings be open to the public, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

After Palin filed for full legal and physical custody of Tripp in November, Johnston made known his intentions to fight in court for the right to raise his son.

Bristol, 19, had requested that the case be kept from public scrutiny, arguing that privacy would be in her son's best interest, the paper reports. She also asked for a gag order so none of the parties involved could talk about the case and for all filings to be under the pseudonyms Jane and John Doe.

But Johnston, also 19, saw things differently and said in an affidavit, "I know that public scrutiny will simplify this matter and act as a check against anyone's need to be overly vindictive, aggressive or malicious, not that Bristol would ever be that way, nor that I would. But her mother is powerful, politically ambitious and has a reputation for being extremely vindictive . . . So, I think a public case might go a long way in reducing Sarah Palin's instinct to attack."

"None of this is true," Bristol said in a response. "My mother is not involved in this case." She also claimed that Johnston wanted the proceedings open to the public "for his own self-promotion."

But in a decision that came down December 23rd, Alaska Superior Court Judge Kari Kristiansen of Palmer ruled that Palin didn't provide evidence that her son would be harmed by the anticipated publicity, the paper reports, and ordered all the sealed records opened. In addition, Sharon Gleason, presiding judge for the judicial district, ruled against her request to use pseudonyms.

Mary Tyler Moore Turns 73 Today

Mary Tyler Moore’s first television job came just after high school graduation and by the age of 24, she was playing Laura Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show, one of the best television comedies of all time.

Then came a glorious seven year run as single working gal Mary Richards on another classic comedy: The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Many Emmys were won for the show including four by Moore herself (She had won two for Van Dyke and won a seventh in 1994 for the TV film Stolen Babies.

Mary, who turns 73 today, made several stabs at other series but none could match her two classics and were short-lived. But she was nominated for an Oscar for Ordinary People and won a Tony Award for the play Whose Life is It Anyway. She has shined in both comedy and drama with my favorite Mary roles including playing Ben Stiller’s Jewish mother in Flirting With Disaster and the television films The Last Best Year and Heartsounds.

Mary is still going strong with guest spots on such series as That 70s Show and Lipstick Jungle and this year had a role in the feature film Against the Current.

Tyra Banks Says Goodbye to Talk Show

After five seasons, two Daytime Emmy awards and too many girl-power episodes to count, Tyra Banks is announcing the end of The Tyra Show.

“This will be the last season of The Tyra Show,” Banks said in a recent interview. “I’ve been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years.”

Wrapping at the end of its fifth season in the spring of 2010, it will be lights out for the show that brought viewers memorable weave-exposing, cellulite-revealing and tear-jerking moments.

Banks will focus on the launch of Bankable Studios, a N.Y.-based film production company currently reviewing possible projects. Sticking to her mission, Banks aims to bring “positive images of women to the big screen,” says an industry insider.

“My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are,” Banks says.

Adds the insider: “Tyra is sad because she’ll be missing so much of the daily connection to her viewers, but excited at the same time to be taking on a new challenge.”

With encouragement from filmmaker Tyler Perry and longtime mentor Oprah Winfrey, Banks is “redefining beauty for women in film,” adds the source. “With Oprah’s big announcement this year, I think that gave Tyra the confidence to get out there and follow her longtime dream of film producing.”

But fashion fiends worry not. America’s Next Top Model is slated to return for its 14th season in February along with Banks’s ABC show True Beauty.

“There’s a lot cooking right now and a lot of fire burning in my heart,” Banks writes in an open letter on her Web site. “And I salute you my amazing family of viewers; without you there never would have been a Tyra Show. I really love you all.”

Lady Gaga: New Year's Eve's Hottest Ticket?

Lady Gaga is playing the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach on New Year's Eve, and has sold over $1 million in tickets:

"The 'Poker Face' singer is said to be getting about 300,000 dollars for the show. Based on sales through website http://www.newyearseve.com/, tickets for the singer's performance to ring in 2010 are almost non-existent, with only a few 25,000-dollar tables left and some general admission seats at 425 dollars."

Guy Trebay pays tribute to Gaga in an end-of-the-year column:

"Although Andy Warhol died just a year after Stefani Germanotta came into the world, and decades before Lady Gaga was willed into being, he was correct as usual in forecasting a time when there would be 'new categories of people' being 'put up there' as stars. Those people, he wrote in 'The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (From A to B and Back Again),' would be made up of parts. And their fans, freed from the obligation to idolize a 'whole person,' could choose which dimension of a star they wanted to love. Lady Gaga is rigged for that stardom: her persona is an amalgam of surfaces, faceted though not truly 3-D, addictive in the way video games are."

Fox to Order More "Idol" -- With or Without Cowell

Fox is near a deal to order more seasons of "American Idol" -- with or without its most popular judge, Simon Cowell.

The network's current contract with "Idol" producers 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia extends through the end of the 2011. But the network is working on a new deal that includes three more seasons of "Idol," though that number could change.

An announcement is expected to demonstrate Fox's commitment to its top-rated series, even as "Idol" faces its biggest challenge yet.

The "Idol" franchise has been rocked by rumors that Cowell will depart the show after the upcoming season as he prepares to bring his hit UK music competition series "X-Factor" to the United States.

Cowell's brother Tony announced Tuesday on his weekly podcast that Simon will leave "Idol" at the end of 2010. The move could have a double impact on "Idol" -- the loss of a key personality to the series, and the addition of another music competition show on Fox that may lead to fewer "Idol" viewers.

But before anything is finalized at the network, the "Idol" judge still needs to sign his new contract with "Factor" owner Sony. Once that's out of the way, Sony will allow Cowell to make a deal with Fox to bring "Factor" stateside.

Fox would prefer to bundle a "Factor" agreement with at least another season of Cowell judging "Idol." But by quitting "Idol," Cowell could make his participation on "Factor" a bigger event. One potential compromise is that Cowell could take a smaller role on "Idol" in 2011 -- judging the Hollywood rounds, for example, but not the auditions.

Fox was originally planning to debut "Factor" next fall. But delays in the Sony deal have pushed the show to an expected 2011 premiere date.

The headline-making leak on his brother's podcast was the latest in a series of headlines speculating about Cowell's plans. Recently, Cowell and business partner Philip Green made worldwide news by telling GQ magazine of their plan to have "X-Factor" exist as a live Las Vegas extravaganza that would stream as a global pay-per-view event over the Internet.

Boyzone Singer Stephen Gately Died from Undiagnosed Heart Condition

It’s been revealed that Stephen Gately died in October from a undiagnosed heart condition, according to a forensic report.

Gately gained fame as a member of the Boyzone band and was on vacation on the Spanish island of Majorca when he died at the age of 33. The cause of death is acute pulmonary oedema, a build-up of fluid on the lungs caused by atheromatosis which is a thickening of the arteries. This is considered quite rare in a person under the age of 50.

The report made it clear he had not been killed by alcohol or drugs. When his civil partner Andrew Cowles discovered Gately, he may have been dead for up to eight hours.

A Bulgarian student who was with the couple that night named Georgi Dochev who sold his story to the UK’s Sunday Mirror. He said that he and Cowles had slept together in the bedroom, believing that Gately was sleeping off a hangover.

Avatar Keeps Sherlock Holmes Off The Top of the U.S. Box Office

A strong Christmas Day at the U.S. box office didn't give Sherlock Holmes the push it needed to dethrone James Cameron's sci-fi love story Avatar over the weekend.

The humans vs. aliens movie, starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, scored a second week at the top of the chart with a stunning $75 million three-day take.

The weekend estimate gives the film a 10-day total of $212.3 million in America alone. The film made a worldwide splash last week when it scored a $232.2 million opening weekend.

After beating Avatar on Christmas Day, Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes failed to keep up, but it's $65.4 million opening was still $15 million more than experts predicted.

Family film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel has come in third after another strong Christmas weekend showing - it raked in $50.2 million over the three days.

Christmas weekend served up the biggest U.S. filmgoing weekend in recent history.

Estimated total theatrical receipts of $278 million from Friday to Sunday in the U.S. and Canada weren't just the largest ever recorded, according to Box Office at http://www.hollywood.com/, but also the highest number of tickets ever sold in a three-day period.

The next four biggest box-office weekends were all dominated by one picture that grossed well over $100 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Guy Ritchie Thinks Madonna is a Good Actress

Guy Ritchie, who recently directed Sherlock Holmes, claims Madonna's acting talents are unfairly written off because people struggle to imagine her as anything other than a pop superstar. Ritchie divorced the "4 Minutes" singer after nearly eight years of marriage in 2008.

He said: “If you ask me, I think she’s all right. I think she’s perfectly good. I just don’t think people can get her persona out of the way.”

Guy directed Madonna in the straight-to-DVD movie Swept Away in 2002, and despite the movie being blasted by critics, he insists he is proud of the work they did together.

He added to The Daily Beast website: “The whole thing is supposed to be ironic. It’s about a man that hits a woman. If you ask me, everything about it was rather interesting, but it was such a feral relationship between a man and woman and you just can’t get away with that in contemporary society.”

Despite public perception of Madonna, she won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Eva Peron in Evita.

Village People Sue Chef Over Dressing Up

Because the Village People, own the rights to any troupe that dresses as a cowboy, cop, American Indian, construction worker, and a sailor (it's true, they own it!), the "YCMA" group is furious that chef Jamie Oliver dared dress up as exactly that (see below) to promote his new TV series "Jamie's American Road Trip."

Now the band is threatening a trademark lawsuit against Channel 4, which airs the series. It doesn't help that Oliver was dancing to the Village People's "Go West" during the promos, completely nixing any attempt at defending Oliver's costumes as a happy coincidence.

Charlie Sheen and Wife to Undergo Counseling After His Arrest for Domestic Violence

Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller are planning to undergo counseling after a heated fight at a dinner party in Aspen, Colorado, that landed Charlie in jail on domestic violence charges Friday morning.

"They were fighting at a dinner in a friend’s house and it continued until the next morning," a source close to Mueller stated. "Both of them were drinking and neither was supposed to be. They both have histories of alcohol abuse and have made every effort to stop. But things got out of hand."

Sheen, 44, was booked at 11:20 a.m. for second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief, according to a spokesperson for the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department in Aspen, Colo. The actor posted an $8,500 bond Friday night and was released from jail at 7 p.m. He is due in court on February 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.

"Charlie went right back to Los Angeles after he was released from jail," the source said. "Both he and Brooke will undergo counseling and Charlie will get anger management counseling."

Despite reports, the couple had not been separated in the weeks leading up to the Christmas morning 911 call at the house they were renting with their twin boys, Bob and Max, 9 months.

"Brooke and Charlie have never been separated," the source said. "And the boys are fine – so precious. They knew nothing about a fight between their parents."

The actor's Colorado-based attorney Richard Cummins said, "They have two children together and they love one another and they’re going to work through what is a difficult time and they’re going to do that together and as privately as possible."

Sheen's rep, Stan Rosenfield, had no further comment.

Mueller, 32, plans to stay at her rented house in Aspen, and there is no talk of divorce at this time.

"Brooke loves to snowboard and wants to be in Aspen now," the source stated. "After this unfortunate event, they need to be apart for awhile."

Matthew Morrison: 'I'm Not Gay'

Actor Matthew Morrison is unfazed by speculation over his sexuality because he's been battling rumours he's gay since he was a child.

The star made his name on the Broadway stage in musicals like Hairspray before shooting to fame on hit U.S. TV show Glee, in which he plays music teacher Will Schuester.

Morrison, 31, admits he is regularly called a homosexual because of his love of singing and dancing, but the straight star insists he's not offended by the assumption.

He tells Elle magazine, "I grew up singing and dancing, so people have been calling me gay since fifth grade. I've heard everything you could possibly hear about it.

"I'm not gay... But I do love gay people, so I'm not going to act like I was insulted or angry about it."

Movie Trailer: "Sex and the City 2"

Is this Sex and the City or Sex and the Desert?

The first teaser trailer for Sex and the City 2 hit the internet this week, and it looks like the girls will be roaming far from the bright lights of New York in the sequel, which opens this spring.

The trailer’s opening scenes show Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda happily in their element, flitting around New York to the tune of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ Gotham anthem, “Empire State of Mind.” But things are about to change.

“It’s been two years,” Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie says in a voiceover. “And in two years, amazing things can happen. Things you thought would never happen in a million years. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, it hits you. You haven’t seen anything yet.”

Suddenly, the scene shifts to a dusty foreign land — reportedly, Morocco — as the ladies are seen wafting through deserts on camels and on foot (in designer sandals, no doubt). “Sometimes, you just have to get away with the girls,” Carrie explains.

To learn more, you’ll have to wait for the next trailer — or the movie itself, which opens May 28.

Jude Law Talks About Finishing Heath Ledger's Final Role

Jude Law says he was humbled personally and professionally to be asked to help take over Heath Ledger's final movie role, which Ledger left unfinished when he died in January 2008.

"When I got the call, it was a double tug," Law says of joining the cast of The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. "I liked Heath very much as a man and admired him as an actor. To help finish his final piece of work was a tribute I felt compelled to make."

Ledger was in the midst of filming the role of Tony in the fantasy film, directed by Terry Gilliam, when he died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in his New York apartment on January 22, 2008, at age 28.

Determined to finish the movie, Gilliam kept Ledger's work intact, and hired Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell to round out the role of Tony – each playing a different incarnation of the character after he steps through a magical mirror.

"To help Terry finish his film was an honor paid to a man I adore," Law says. "Though we were all there in remembrance, Heath's heart pushed us with great lightness to the finish."

Lily Cole, who plays the female lead as Tony's love interest Valentina, says it was a struggle to resume filming just a month after Ledger's death.

"We'd had a month to absorb that situation, which by no means is enough time to get over it, but it was a month to think about finishing the film," Cole tells Film Review Online.

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, which Gilliam has dedicated to Ledger, opens in limited release in the U.S. on Christmas Day and in wide release on January 8th.

Jennifer Hudson Denies Pregnancy Reports

Those recent tabloid stories about a new baby? It was all a dream about this girl.

"Contrary to what has been falsely reported, Jennifer Hudson is not pregnant," her rep Lisa Kasteler says. "Jennifer leaves in April for South Africa where she will portray Winnie Mandela in the feature film, Winnie."

"It is a commitment she is excited about and takes very seriously," the rep adds. "Jennifer is currently in the studio recording her second album and this is the only delivery she is looking forward to in 2010."

The Oscar winner is already busy with one little one at home – son David was born in August.

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins Split

One of Hollywood's most enduring relationships has ended – Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have broken up after more than two decades together.

"Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer," her rep Teal Cannaday stated. "No further comments will be made."

The couple met on the set of Bull Durham, and they have two sons together, Jack, 20, and Miles, 17.

Sarandon, 63, was previously married to Chris Sarandon, whom she met in college. The actress also dated director Franco Amurri in the mid '80s. The two had a daughter, Eva Amurri, in 1985. (Amurri is also an actress; she most recently appeared in Showtime's Californication).

Sarandon and Robbins, 51, were admired for their long relationship in the face of the pressures of show business, their much-discussed age difference – he's 12 years younger – and that they never married.

"I won’t marry because I am too afraid of taking him for granted or him taking me for granted – maybe it will be a good excuse for a party when I am 80," Sarandon has said in the past.

Both famous liberal activists, they have never been too political at home with their children. "I’ve never tried to force [politics] on them,” the actress tells Psychologies magazine in its January issue, but adds that the election of President Barack Obama “got them excited.”

The family all attended the inauguration in January, though Sarandon insists "our dinner table conversations are rarely political."

Tom Cruise Sued by Alleged Gay Lover

Hollywood film star Tom Cruise is being sued over allegations of wiretapping. Magazine editor, Michael Davis Sapir, claims that the actor hired private detective, Anthony Pellicano, to wiretap his phone.

In 2001 Sapir claimed to have a video in his possession that proved he was having a "homosexual relationship" with the star.

According to documents filed at Los Angeles' County Superior Court, Sapir claims that Cruise hired Anthony Pellicano to spy on Sapir during the court case.

Eventually both parties acknowledged that the video did not exist and the $100m (£62m) case was settled out of court.

The actor, best known for roles in the Mission Impossible films and Top Gun, has been a controversial figure over recent years.

In addition to promoting various programs that introduce people to Scientology, Cruise has campaigned for Scientology to be fully recognized as a religion in Europe. He has lobbied politicians in France and Germany, where the legal systems regard Scientology as a cult.

In 2006 Paramount Pictures announced it was ending its 14-year relationship with Cruise.

In the Wall Street Journal, chairman of Viacom (Paramount's parent company) Sumner Redstone cited the economic damage to Cruise's value as an actor and producer from his controversial public behaviour and views.

During his marriage to actress Nicole Kidman, the couple endured public speculation about their sex life and rumors that Cruise was gay.

In 1998, he sued The Daily Express after they alledged that the marriage was a sham designed to cover up his homosexuality.

According to documents obtained by entertainment site Tmz.com, Sapir is asking for $5 million.

Boy George Barred from Appearing on Big Brother

Singer Boy George will not be appearing on Celebrity Big Brother after a High Court judge dismissed his appeal.

The star, real name George O'Dowd, was barred from going on the show when the Probation Service said his appearance would undermine public confidence in the justice system.

George, 48, appealed to the High Court to quash the decision but this was turned down by a judge, Press Association reports.

He is on probation after being released from jail in May. He had been found guilty of falsely imprisoning and assaulting male prostitute Audun Carlsen, 29, and served four months of his 15 month sentence.

The star was set to earn £200,000 for his appearance on the Channel 4 show and his lawyer argued he wanted to rebuild his career and reputation.

But Richard Clayton QC, representing the Probation Service, said that allowing George on the show could undermine public confidence in the criminal justice system and threaten the reputation of the Probation Service.

Judge Bean has said he will give his reasons for the refusal later.

When George was sentenced for the attack on Carlson, the judge said he had used "gratuitous violence" and left his victim "shocked, degraded and traumatised".

The singer had said he met Carlsen previously but had asked him back to his Shoreditch flat because he believed Carlsen had tampered with his computer.

Carlsen said he was attacked, dragged across the floor by George, handcuffed to a wall by the bed at the Culture Club singer's east London flat and beaten with a chain, until he managed to flee.

George denied the charges but chose not to give evidence in his own defence.

He has since spoken of his regret over the incident and said he "wholly deserved" to go to prison.

Celebrity Big Brother begins on January 3rd. Rumoured housemates include Jordan's cross-dressing former boyfriend Alex Reid, Pamela Anderson and rapper MC Hammer.

He claimed he had been robbed, but when police arrived to investigate they found a large quantity of cocaine in his flat.

He also has a 1977 juvenile conviction for going equipped for theft.

SoFLa Local:
A Second Gay Newspaper For South Florida

South Florida is getting its second gay newspaper following the November closure of South Florida Blade.

The Miami Herald's GLBT reporter Steve Rothaus is reporting that Norm Kent will launch http://www.southfloridagaynews.com/ in January.

“SFGN will be published and distributed on Mondays, tabloid size, commencing in January of 2010, and over 12,000 copies will be distributed to 300 plus locations in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties,” Kent said in a statement.

Kent, a local criminal defense attorney and radio host, is the original publisher of Express Gay News, which he sold four years later to Window Media, the mini gay publishing empire whose decision to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy last month sealed the fate of six GLBT newspapers, including the Atlanta-based gay weekly Southern Voice, as well as the Houston Voice, David Atlanta, South Florida Blade, Washington Blade and 411 Magazine. After its 2003 purchase of Express Gay News, Window Media executives renamed the publication the South Florida Blade.

Both in Washington and South Florida, former employees regrouped to keep local gay news flowing. The former staff of the Washington Blade churned out its first edition of the DC Agenda less than a week after news broke of the paper's demise. And Mark's List publisher Mark Haines quickly hired many former South Florida Blade employees to begin the Florida Agenda.

But Publisher Mark Haines told the Miami Herald that he did not believe two gay papers could survive in South Florida.

Will Daniel Radcliffe be Returning to Broadway?

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe got raves when he appeared on Broadway last year in Equus. There is now hope that Radcliffe might return to the New York stage in a revival of the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Radcliffe took part in a reading of the show this week and, according to Broadway World, was sensational.

Writes the site’s Realto Chatter columnist: He interpreted the role in a charming, adorable and fresh way. He sang great. I think everyone was there to see if he could do it. And boy, he really did it. He was great. He came off as a full-fledged musical star. Those of us who saw him in Equus know he has the stage chops as a dramatic actor but now I can say that he could easily take Broadway by storm as a musical comedy star, too. After that final Harry Potter movie comes out, this guy can do whatever he wants in any medium. I loved him. And it seems to me that he is the youngest actor to play the role of Finch. And his youth made the show feel fresh and new. It had a new kind of innocence to contrast the cynicism of the world he is in.

Steven Tyler Enters Rehab for Painkiller Addiction

Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler has entered a rehab facility for pain management and an addiction to prescription painkillers resulting from 10 years of performance injuries.

"With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford," Tyler says in a statement released to the press.

"I love Aerosmith; I love performing as the lead singer in Aerosmith," he adds. "I am grateful for all of the support and love I am receiving and am committed to getting things taken care of."

His daughter, Liv Tyler says, "My family and I are in complete support of my dad's decision to seek treatment. He is a courageous man. We love him and are so proud that he is getting help to balance his pain management, not just for himself but for his family, friends and fans."

A Decade of Injuries

Tyler, 61, has suffered orthopedic injuries over the past decade that have left him with "severe chronic pain" and will require additional surgeries on his knees and feet, says his physician, Dr. Brian McKeon, Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at Tufts School of Medicine.

"Managing and controlling his pain has been challenging, and despite our use of alternative therapies and the creation of custom shoes built by a team of engineers from Timberland, Steven's pain has progressed," says McKeon, who also is team doctor for the Boston Celtics. "The balance between managing his pain and avoiding addiction is tenuous and difficult and his bravery in persevering through rigorous touring is admirable. As with many athletes, Steven put his performance first as he struggled with acute pain for years."

Tyler's bandmates candidly expressed concern for his well-being – and the future of Aerosmith – after he fell off a stage during a concert in August, breaking his shoulder.

"I think that he needs help and that attention needs to be put to his health," drummer Kramer stated, adding the singer, who had battled drug addiction in the '70s and 80s, had "isolated himself."

Ricky Martin Denounces Homophobia

Earlier this month, Ricky Martin released a statement about acceptance and peace that made note of some of the heinous anti-gay hate crimes that have occurred recently.

Said Martin:

As a human rights activist for many years, I've been able to witness countless miracles. I've seen the amazing capacity that human beings have to heal; I've seen governments and private citizens try to change public policies and fight battles of love that have resulted in a positive impact on our society. I've seen boys and girls from different parts of the world free themselves from the bondage of human trafficking (the slavery of the new era) and amazing people renounce their "lives of luxury" to help those who need it most. Witnessing miracles of all kinds has strengthened the faith in humanity that my parents instilled in me, which is the same faith that I try to pass on to my children every day. When I watch them discovering the world, I think kindness is one of the greatest virtues that I can teach them.

On the other hand, I've also seen insufferable things that have made it impossible for me to hold on to the naiveté that I had as a child and have always tried to maintain it. Traveling the world from an early age and witnessing unimaginable crimes against humanity has stolen part of the innocence that I had as a young boy. There were many moments when I forgot about the child that lives inside of me. You know, that child that we all have within and who constantly reminds us to focus on the beauty of "simplicity". But that moment of disconnection was many years ago, and thanks to the work that I do with my foundation as a part of my daily life, I'm fortunate enough to say that I have reconnected with that inner child and continue to learn from him. One of the most important things I have learned is to SHOUT to the world when I encounter injustice, and that is why I am writing today.

I try to walk through life with a positive outlook. I do all I can to keep a grateful and optimistic attitude. Call me a romantic, an idealist, or maybe someone who's just not realistic. Maybe it's a defense mechanism or maybe it's just that I'm someone who wants to change the chain of negative thoughts that have been fed to us in many ways and which can easily poison the soul. We are all human and sometimes it's easier to ignore the pain and go on with our day. "That has nothing to do with us," we may say; "Why should we care?" But today, I feel that's impossible. It does have to do with us. I do care.

In the past few weeks, I've read many articles that have made me shudder and unfortunately the articles relate to things that are happening every day around the world. I find it almost impossible to believe that in the year 2009, we're struggling with such hateful situations.

As a defender of human rights, my goal is to find solutions for the injustices that exist in the world today. I am speaking about discrimination of any kind, whether it is because of race, gender, nationality, religion, ethnicity, handicap, sexual orientation or political affiliation.

SO I SHOUT: WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE WORLD TODAY?

I'm sure you all have different answers. But at the end of the day, it seems that the collective response usually comes back to one thing: "WE WANT PEACE"

Well, when we believe in peace, there is simply no room for complacency. The murders of James Byrd, Matthew Shepard, Jorge Steven Lopez, Marcelo Lucero, Luis Ramirez and countless others who were victims of violent "hate crimes" should be completely unacceptable to every human being; because we're all human beings. It's up to us to change the paradigm. I hear the world "tolerance" thrown around in the media when it comes to cases like the ones I mentioned above. One of the meanings of tolerance is "the capacity to endure pain or hardship." Another is "the act of allowing something." To me, those don't seem to encompass acceptance, by any definition. So how about this? Instead of saying "we need to tolerate diversity" why not say, "we need to accept diversity."

Accepting diversity is the first and most important step we can take towards eliminating hate crimes and uniting humanity.

If we ACCEPT, humanity unites. If humanity unites, equal human rights will become a reality. And if equal human rights become a reality, peace will be within our reach.

Movie Trailer:
"The Back-Up Plan" with Jennifer Lopez

Check out the trailer for Jennifer Lopez’s latest film venture, The Back-Up Plan.

Shot over the spring and summer, the film stars J. Lo as Zoe, a woman who’s ready to have a baby even if she hasn’t found Mr. Right. She’s already taken matters into her own hands when she meets Stan (Aussie actor Alex O’Loughlin), the guy she’d been looking for all along.

The film hits theaters April 16, 2010.

Alec Baldwin: 'Retirement Comments Were Misconstrued'

Alec Baldwin is angry at reports he's set to quit Hollywood for good in 2012, insisting his comments in a recent magazine interview have been misconstrued.

The 51 year old reportedly planned to walk away from the spotlight when his contract on hit TV comedy 30 Rock expires in three years' time after lamenting to Men's Health magazine that he considers himself a "failure".

He was quoted as saying, "I don't have any interest in acting anymore. Movies are part of my past. It's been 30 years. I'm not young, but I have time to do something else.

"It's a difficult thing to say, but I believe it: I consider my entire movie career a complete failure. I'll tell you why. The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."

But Baldwin insists he has no intention of moving away from showbusiness altogether.

He tells USA Today, "It's ridiculous. What I wanted to say is I wanted to do other things."

And his It's Complicated co-star Meryl Streep is adamant Baldwin will be around for a long time to come.

She adds, "He's not quitting acting. He was just telling me what he is doing next. I can't tell you what it is. I'm just saying, he's not quitting."

Justin Long Bares All for Christina Applegate

Justin Long is set to bare all in new movie Going The Distance, according to his co-star Christina Applegate, who got to see everything the actor has to offer.

The pair team up in two forthcoming films; the romantic comedy about a couple in a long distance relationship, and kids' film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

And Applegate insists the two pictures couldn't be more different.

She tells the Belfast Telegraph, "It's called Going The Distance and it's very dirty. It's the polar opposite of Alvin And The Chipmunks. These people will not be able to go see that."

And she promises there's lots on offer for female fans in the raunchy comedy: "I saw a lot of Justin Long over the summer, I did - you'll see the movie and you'll know why I said that."

Carrie Underwood Gets Engaged!

Carrie Underwood is getting married!

"I'm happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn't be happier," her rep reported. "No wedding date has been set at this time."

The Ottawa Senators player spoke about the happy event on Monday, according to the Toronto Sun.

"It's true," he is quoted as saying. "We're both obviously excited and very happy."

Fisher, 29, reportedly proposed at his home Sunday afternoon and then sent messages to his friends with the good news later that day.

Underwood, 26, and Fisher have kept their year-long relationship mostly under the radar, but Underwood declared her love for Fisher in the liner notes of her new album, Play On.

"I love you so much!" she wrote. "You make my life better in every way! I thank God for you every day."
