The great diving legend (four Olympic gold medals and one silver medal) is a half century young today. He is such an inspiration and authored one of the most moving memoirs I’ve ever read: Breaking the Surface.Breaking the Surface is so deeply moving and inspiring due to his honesty about being gay, his abusive boyfriends, a distant father, his low self-esteem despite being the very best in his sport and about living with HIV.
