Calling fake Jan, calling fake Jan!
I don’t know what Geri Reischl is up top these days but it would be really fun if she showed up for Brady Bunch reunion on The Oprah Winfrey Show, stepping for Eve Plumb just like she did 30 years ago on The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.
Even in the best of times, Eve Plumb seems to have a love-hate relationship with with legacy as Jan Brady and appeared absolutely miserable on the Still Brady After All These Years 35tb anniversary special. But things really took a bad turn when her TV big sister Maureen McCormick teased that the two had a lesbian kiss while doing the 1969-74 sitcom that launched endless reunion specials and follow-up series.
The NY Post reports: McCormick, blogging this week on Fancast.com, said all six Brady “kids” were invited to reunite on the Oprah Winfrey show in September: “All of us said yes except for one person, Eve Plumb, who used to be my best friend but now apparently wants to distance herself from the show and, most troubling, from me . . . I have no idea why, unless she’s mad at the joke I made a few years ago that we’d had a lesbian love affair. I made the crack to be funny — and for shock value. I’m sorry if she took offense.”
Plumb’s agent, Mark Measures, down played any animosity: “No one from ‘Oprah’ called. We haven’t turned down anything. There is no feud.”
So maybe the real Jan will show up! The truth is, out of all the Brady cast, Eve was the most gifted actress and had a series of successful TV movies after the series ended including my favorite: Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway. Other credits include the Little Women mini-series and follow-up series and the wonderful Saturday morning series Fudge on which she played the mom of the title character.
Plumb has also been a successful painter for the past few decades.
