Ryan Reynolds has beaten off competition from Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper to play superhero the Green Lantern, according to industry reports.Reynolds, fast becoming an action-hero following roles in the Blade trilogy and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has been chosen to take on the comic creation, reports Daily Variety.
The Green Lantern tells the tale of a group of protagonists who can control the physical world with an all-powerful ring.
It will be the first time an actor has appeared in films by rival comic giants DC and Marvel.
