Dennis Quaid was given a lucky break by Los Angeles police on Thursday morning when he was warned against driving home after cops suspected him of drinking alcohol.The actor was leaving Philippe restaurant in West Hollywood in the early hours of Thursday with his wife Kimberly and a friend when he jumped into the driver's seat of his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
Quaid was about to speed away from the venue when a cop car pulled up alongside and ordered him to step out from behind the wheel, saving him from a possible arrest for driving under the influence (DUI).
In video footage of the incident posted on TMZ.com, the Vantage Point star can be seen being repeatedly told by the officer to "get out of the car".
He responded to the policeman, "What do you want me to do?" before requesting the cop's permission to return to the restaurant and call a cab.
