Elton John May Appear on Glee

Elton John has been in talks about appearing on Glee.

Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester in the show, said she had encouraged the gay legend to meet series co-creator Ryan Murphy without realising the pair had already discussed the idea.

She told Access Hollywood: “I said, ‘You should be on it!’ And he said he and Ryan just had coffee or something and they talked about that, so that would be really fun.”

Meanwhile, Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, said recently that John could appear as a love interest for Sue.

He said: “We should find a spot for him to be on the show. That would be awesome. He’s a living legend. He just brings such a great energy and a great validity to everything he does.

“He should do something with Jane Lynch. I think he should maybe play her boyfriend or some kind of love interest for her. I think that would be fun.”

Gaga Godmother to Elton & David's Son?

In an interview with Canada’s Maclean’s magazine, Elton John’s husband David Furnish discusses gay rights up north and his feelings about family shields while (more or less) confirming that Lady Gaga is son Zachary’s godmother.

“I’m always very proud when people ask me about being a Canadian,” Furnish told the magazine when asked if he felt support from his home country. “I know when [Stephen Harper] was elected he talked about repealing gay marriage—legislation that was already passed in Canada. When it went to the House of Commons, more people voted to keep it than put it in in the first place. That is a sign of society taking a step, walking into unknown territory and realizing that this isn’t going to be the destruction of the moral fabric of our society. This isn’t going to hurt or kill anybody.

Furnish says he feels Canada is “more progressive and more accepting” than America “on all sorts of levels relating to same-sex couples and families,” especially after an Arkansas grocery store recently placed a “family shield” over the Us Weekly cover that featured Furnish, John, and Zachary. “I was disappointed but not outraged,” he says. “They put the shield up and two days later, they took it down. That is progress in its own right.”

When asked whether or not reports were true that Lady Gaga had been named Zachary’s godmother, Furnish replied, “We haven’t publicly confirmed that yet but your sources are very good! I prefer not to comment on it because we are going to make a statement about godparents later on.”

Furnish feels that Gaga is an excellent role model because “she’s all about inclusiveness and tolerance. She believes that you can be whoever you want to be and that we don’t have to live in a world of conformity and that we can all [benefit] from individuality. That’s the best message in the world.”

Elton John Cuddles with Son, Zachary

Elton John has spoken of his unbridled joy at becoming a first-time father at 63. But this picture really tells the story.

In this new photo, the legendary British musician is seen grinning from ear to ear as he holds his son Zachary, who will be two months old on Friday.

John and his partner, David Furnish, welcomed Zachary, via a surrogate, on Christmas Day and having been dividing up the parenting duties ever since. "I knew it would be incredible," John said recently, "but honestly I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been so shocked. I'm like a gibbering wreck in front of him."

Lady Gaga Releases Full Lyrics to Forthcoming Single 'Born This Way'

Lady Gaga memorably sang a couple bars from her forthcoming, and much-anticipated single “Born This Way” at last fall’s MTV Video Music Awards and released album art. Now she’s giving up everything but the actual song itself, as pop’s reigning queen released the song’s full lyrics via a Tweet.

Based on what she released—and as expected—the song is very empowerment focused, with the first verse going, “My mama told me when I was young / We were all born superstars.” Hello, yes we were! A few bars later, the chorus really drives home her point: “I’m beautiful in my way / ‘Cause God makes no mistakes / I’m on the right track baby / I was born this way.”

Basically, she’s saying: Make no apologies, be who you are, don’t be ashamed of whatever/whoever that is!

Elton John told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year: “‘Born This Way’…will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive.’ This is the new ‘I Will Survive.’ That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem.

Actually, it’s not a gay anthem—it can apply to anybody.” Based on what’s here, that’s certainly true—gays and straights alike will most certainly love this.

Now we just need to hear the actual song! But we won’t hear it until February 13th, the same day as the Grammys, which will feature a performance by Gaga.

In the Tweet, Lady Gaga also revealed the song’s credits. ‘Born This Way’ was written by Lady Gaga; produced by Lady Gaga, Fernando Garibay, and DJ White Shadow; and mixed and engineered by David Russel.
Here are at Gaga’s full lyrics to Born This Way:

Elton John Won't Be Invited to the Royal Wedding

Here's one star who isn't eagerly checking his mailbox for the big wedding invitation.

Despite the buzz about him performing at the royal wedding on April 29th (whether officially or as a street performer outside Westminster Abbey, as he joked), Elton John says he won't make the invite list.

"I think because of my relationship with Princess Diana, people automatically think I'm going to be invited," John told Reuters.

But since he doesn't know Prince William well, "I'm not invited to the wedding, I would not expect to be invited to the wedding," he says.

Still, he's happy to join the throngs of well-wishers.

Prince William and Kate Middleton "seem very happy," says the singer, who performed at the 2007 London memorial concert for Princess Diana. "He's a terrific man, William, and he's going to be a great king."

Not to mention a great groom.

"These boys are their own people, they have their own friends," says John. "I just hope that they have the best day and its sunny and it's a great occasion for them."

Elton John Slams Gay Marriage Opponents

New father Elton John has attacked opponents of gay marriage and backed efforts to overturn California's ban at a Beverly Hills event to raise funds for a legal challenge.

"It seems so ridiculous I could be with my partner for 17 years and we have a son, and my partner and I can't get married," Sir Elton, 63, said during the 90-minute set in which he banged out Your Song, Sixty Years On, Levon and other hits he wrote before he came out as gay.

Sir Elton disappointed some gay activists after the California ban, known as Proposition 8, passed in 2008 when he said he had no desire to get married and was satisfied with the civil partnership he and his long-time partner, David Furnish, had.

"If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership. The word 'marriage' I think, puts a lot of people off," he said at the time.

But Sir Elton was singing a different tune at the concert, which raised three million dollars for the American Foundation for Equal Rights.

He praised the effort to overturn the ban and promised to do everything he could to support it.

"As a gay man I think I have it all," he said. "I have a wonderful career, a wonderful life. I have my health, I have a partner of 17 years and I have a son.

"And you know what, I don't have everything, because I don't have the respect of people like the church, and people like politicians who tell me that I am not worthy or that I am 'less than' because I am gay."

He then punctuated his remark with an expletive, to cheers and applause from the crowd.

Furnish and Sir Elton became parents to a baby boy on Christmas Day. Their son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, was born in California through a surrogate mother.

Elton John & Matthew Morrison 'Gleeful' Duet

Elton John was filled with 'Glee' to do this duet.

Speaking at his Wednesday gay marriage fundraising gala, John touched on the recent work he did with 'Glee' star Matthew Morrison on his upcoming solo album.

"I just did it! It's a duet. It's great, really fantastic. He sings great on it," he told Parade Magazine. "It's a medley of 'Mona Lisas and Madhatters' going into 'Rocket Man.' I did it on Monday."

John had spoken in October of his plans to do the project with Morrison, who attended the Wednesday soiree.

"I'm supposed to be doing something with Matthew Morrison for his album," the singer told Entertainment Weekly in October. "[Matthew and I] had a little meeting together, so hopefully that's going to happen when I get to L.A."

No word yet on whether the high school glee club show will cover one of his songs, but John was enthusiastic about that possibility, too.

Morrison's solo album will be released in February.

First Pics of Elton John's Son

OK! magazine has the first pictures of Elton John and David Furnish’s son, Zachary, who Elton says “shot out like a rocket” when he was born Christmas Day.

"He shot out like a rocket,” the rock star told the magazine. “There just aren't proper words to describe that feeling. It's indescribable. It was just, 'We have a son'!"

According to the article, Elton and David vow to lavish their son with love, not money. The child was carried by a surrogate mother.

Elton John is Biological Father of His New Baby

When a gay couple becomes parents via surrogate, there’s the question of which guy is the kid’s biological dad.

We recently found out in the case of Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, each is the father of one of their fratneral twins.

Now it is being reported that in the case of the baby recently born to Elton John and partner David Furnish, the famous singer is the biological father.

“Elton really wanted the child to have his genes,” a friend of John and partner David Furnish reveals to the website PopEater. “He has a God-given talent and wanted to pass that on to a child. And after years of discussion and thought, Elton and David decided together that Elton’s sperm would be used.”

Son Zachary was born weighing 7 lbs., 15 oz. via a surrogate mother in California on Christmas Day. This is the first child for John, 62, and Furnish, 48.

Elton John & David Furnish Welcome a Son

It was a very merry Christmas for Sir Elton John.

The singer, 62, and husband David Furnish, 48, welcomed son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John on Dec. 25, John's rep have confirmed.

The 7 lb., 15 oz., baby was delivered via surrogate in California.

"We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment," the couple, who exchanged vows in a civil ceremony in 2005, said in a statement. "Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents."

Just last year, Furish said they were going to wait to start a family until John was ready to come off the road.

"We don't want to put the raising of children into the hands of nannies and housekeepers," said Furnish. "We want to be active parents. We have godchildren [and] kids that we support in Africa, so we're fine."

Elton John and Lady Gaga: Details on Their Duet

If you were watching Elton John on The View yesterday, you might have heard him mention that he’s planning to release a duet with Lady Gaga. It’s something he’s alluded to before, but now we can report that the track, called “Hello, Hello,” will appear in the upcoming Disney animated film Gnomeo & Juliet, which is being produced by Sir Elton and his partner, David Furnish.

The charming pop track plays during the moment where the two lead characters, lawn ornaments named Gnomeo (voiced by James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt), meet for the first time.

The film hits theaters on February 11, 2011. No word yet on when the single will be released.

Elton John to Work with Matthew Morrison on Actor's Debut Album

Elton John recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he’ll be working with Glee star Matthew Morrison—aka Will Schuester—on the actor’s forthcoming debut album.

“I’m supposed to be doing something with Matthew Morrison for his album,” John told Entertainment Weekly, when he called to talk about The Union, John’s album collaboration with legendary pianist-songwriter Leon Russell, which hits stores Octoctober 19th.

“[Matthew and I] had a little meeting together, so hopefully that’s going to happen when I get to L.A.” John says the collaboration with the Glee star will likely happen sometime this month. John also recently fanned rumors that he may contribute to Lady Gaga’s upcoming album, Born This Way. “There’s a chance I might do one track with her,” he told Entertainment Weekly, “but she’s so busy, and I’m so busy, we can never get together!”

Considering his upcoming collaboration with Morrison, though, could an all-Elton episode of Glee—or even an appearance on the show—be that far off? It’s not in the works…yet. “I love Glee, but no, no, no,” the legendary singer said. “Of course, I’d be into that. It’s always great when someone covers your songs, no matter how good or bad the version is. You know, I started out as a songwriter, so I always get a kick out of that.”

Elton John: Working on Lady Gaga's New Album?

Will Elton John make an appearance on Lady Gaga‘s forthcoming album Born This Way? It seems very possible.

Entertainment Weekly recently spoke to Elton about The Union, his album collaboration with legendary pianist-songwriter Leon Russell, which hits stores October 19th, and the Rocket Man couldn’t help but bring up his love for all things Gaga. “I love her, and I love her ability to write,” he says. “I love the songs she writes.”

A collaboration between the pair—who’ve become bosom buddies since performing together at January’s Grammy Awards—is a good possiblity.

“I’d love to in the future,” John says of working with her. “I’d love to do that.” Then he elaborates: “There’s a chance I might do one track with her [for Born This Way], but it’s just, she’s so busy, and I’m so busy, we can never get together!”

But, he adds, “I’ve already heard [Gaga's new album], so I think it’s more or less done. [Born This Way is expected to be released early next year.]

Her record—it’s f—ing amazing. ‘Born This Way,’ which is the title song, will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive.’ This is the new ‘I Will Survive.’ That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem. Actually, it’s not a gay anthem—it can apply to anybody.”

Glee Cast Tops the Beatles for Billboard Record

It's official: Rachel Berry, Finn Hudson, Will Schuster, Sue Sylvester and the rest of the 'Glee' cast have more appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart than any other non-solo act in history--including the Beatles, the Associated Press reports.

The cast of Fox's musical hit show added six more debuts to the chart this week bringing their grand total to 75 songs--four more than the Beatles' 71. Last week's Britney Spears episode helped push the cast past the legendary British foursome.

While the 'Glee' cast has the most appearances on the Billboard Top 100 for a group, Elvis Presley still has the most appearances overall with 108 songs. James Brown is second with 91 and 'Glee' rounds out the top three.

Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin hold the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. The Beatles hold the sixth spot. Other artists in the Top 10 include Elton John, Lil Wayne, Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z.

Overall, the 'Glee' cast has sold 2.8 million albums and 11.5 million downloads. Just give these guys a few more seasons and they might find themselves in the number one spot!

Elton John Putting Adoption Plans On Hold For Now

David Furnish and Elton John have been trying to adopt a baby from another country for a while now, and have been very disappointed after some big letdowns. The Canadian filmmaker and his musician husband tried to give a home to a Ukrainian child last year, but the adoption didn't go through because Elton, at 63, was deemed too old and because of their gay marriage.

Speaking at the Butterfly Ball in London's Battersea Park, David told BANG Showbiz: "We did take age into consideration but we're both like teenagers anyway so it wasn't an issue for us."

Although Ukrainian law stopped them from becoming parents, the 47-year-old star has revealed the couple will try again. He said: "We were both just so heartbroken by what happened last year, we just want to have a break and enjoy the summer."

David insists he and Elton will look at adopting from other countries but admits it is difficult for gay couples all over the world, even in the UK. He said: "It's very difficult even in Britain. I think we're going to look at different places in the future, but not for now."

The star-studded Butterfly Ball, which was held in to raise money for the Caudwell Children charity, was also attended by Elizabeth Hurley, Peter Andre, Dame Shirley Bassey, Lulu, Sarah Ferguson - the Duchess of York and Princess Beatrice.

The charity supports children with over 300 different conditions.

Elton John Covers Madonna in Concert

How do you top the always over-the-top Lady Gaga?

If you're Elton John, you belt out Madonna's "Material Girl" and "Like a Virgin" backed up by a chorus of scantily-clad men from a group called The Bad Boys of Dance.

At Thursday's Rainforest Fund benefit concert at New York's Carnegie Hall, the British singer stepped away from his piano and worked the stage, delighting the crowd with his cover songs – and his backing dancer eye candy. John had eight guys, all clad in skin-tight bikini briefs, dance during his take on "Like a Virgin."

Also on the Rainforest Benefit bill: Sting (his wife Trudie Styler produced the event), Lady Gaga, Debbie Harry and special guest Bruce Springsteen, who even lured Kate Hudson on stage with him

Elton John Turns Down $33 Million Offer to Replace Simon Cowell on 'American Idol'

With Simon Cowell's exit from American Idol fast approaching, the search is heating up for his replacement. And while there's no denying that British singer Elton John would make the next season of Idol a must-watch event, the word is he's turned down a $33 million offer to join the show's panel of judges.

Access Hollywood reports that Elton, who was a guest judge on Idol during its third season, has turned down the offer, but there's no word on why he's not interested. It could be the money. Cowell is said to be earning more than $50 million per year for American Idol, so maybe the show's producers better plan on at least matching that salary if they want to bring in someone with Elton John's star power.

With Elton out of the running, the word is producers are looking to the show's pool of mentors for a new judge. Recent mentors Harry Connick, Jr. and Jamie Foxx have both been mentioned as potential replacements.

Idol judges have a notoriously tough schedule. Filming a season of the show not only involves being on hand in Hollywood, but also traveling the country to dig for talent during marathon audition sessions. The show requires judges to take about five months out of a year, preventing many from working on movies, television shows or even music in that time.

Elton John Remembers Ryan White at AIDS Benefit Concert

It has been 20 years since Elton John was a pallbearer at his friend Ryan White's funeral. But the music legend has never forgotten the impact the brave teenager had on educating the world about living with AIDS.

In memorial to White, who died at age 18 in 1990 of complications from the disease, the music legend will perform Wednesday night at a fundraiser for the Elton John AIDS Foundation at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.

"Ryan dedicated his life to helping future generations of children," his mother, Jeanne White-Ginder, said in a statement. "This event will celebrate Ryan's life and his efforts to fight against AIDS discrimination, as well as to help continue his efforts of education."

White contracted the disease after a blood transfusion – and he became a symbol of hope during a time when fear and misconceptions about AIDS were prevalent.
