Lady Gaga Has a Secret to Tell on New Year's Eve

Lady Gaga has a big secret to tell her Little Monsters, but they're going to have to wait. The pop star promised to tell her fans a Born This Way announcement as soon as the clock strikes 12 on New Year's Eve. (We're guessing Eastern Time, in case you're wondering.)

She hinted at the news on Twitter on Christmas (via PopEater): "Merry Christmas little monsters! I love you with all my heart. My gift to you is a BORN THIS WAY announcement Midnight on NEW YEARS EVE. -MM," Gaga tweeted.

Originally, we thought she was going to reveal the name of he new album to ring in 2011, but that already happened at the VMAs earlier this year. So, it's gotta be something bigger and better now.

Will it be a new single? An album cover? Tour date announcements? We don't know...but, we do know that a LOT of Little Monsters will be glued to their Twitter pages on Friday!

American Idol May Allow Contestants to Tweet

We always know what the judges think, but next season on American Idol the contestants may also be allowed to speak out during the competition for the first time.

Among the changes being considered for season 10 is a lift on the social-networking ban that has silenced competitors once they leave the stage.

"Contestants may be allowed to Tweet throughout the show," a source has stated. "But there are still logistics to be worked out."

Another change: Unlike last season, the top 12 contestants will be living together in a house in Hollywood. The move is a fresh idea for the next batch of hopefuls, although Idol has done it sporadically in previous years.

What's uncertain, the source says, "is whether they'll film any of it."

The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the changes, and claims they're being made as part of a new "transparency" production theme – the idea being to give fans a peek behind the scenes.

FOX declined to comment on the reports, as did a rep for executive producer Nigel Lythgoe.

Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga and More Staging Digital Deaths for a Cause

Don't worry, Kim Kardashian is not really dead. But starting Wednesday, she won't be quite as lively on social media.

Kardashian, 30, is joining sister Khloe, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and other stars in signing off Facebook and Twitter beginning Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day, to draw attention to the disease.

The campaign, called Digital Life Sacrifice, includes ads that show Kardashian and others lying in coffins to symbolize their digital deaths. They will sign back on when the Keep a Child Alive charity – which Keys has been closely involved with – raises $1 million.

Other celebrities joining the campaign include Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams and Keys's husband, Swizz Beatz.

Keep a Child Alive will accept donations via text message and bar-code technology embedded in the ads. The charity raises money for families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

"We're trying to sort of make the remark: Why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we're all from?" says Leigh Blake, co-founder of Keep a Child Alive. "It's about love and respect and human dignity."

Adam Lambert Clears Up Rumors: “I Was Never Asked to Appear on the [American Idol] Finale in any Capacity”

There was no Adam Lambert on Wednesday night’s bloated American Idol finale.

Guess it was more important to have The Bee Gees, Alice Cooper, Joe Crocker etc (and to let Janet Jackson sing TWO numbers) than to give the stage to one of the biggest stars the show has ever produced and one of the strongest mentors all season.

Adam knows there are all kinds of stories out there so he took to Twitter to clear them up. Here it is, straight from the horse’s mouth:

1. HAHA. I have now just been made aware of more gossip and rumormill: First of all, i was never asked to appear on the finale in any capacity.

2. All i ever heard was:”you’ve not been asked to perform on finale.Would you l…ike to sit in the audience?” Me:sorry-Too much work to do today.

6. 2nd: I DID come down w a throat bug most likely caught on my flight back from this past weekends’ concert in Boston.

7. was put on vocal rest yesterday from MY show’s rehearsals which doubled the work 2 do 2day since all equip. had 2 be sent back east tonight.

8. …music programmer, band and dancers and created all day. I’m so excited to get to work w such an amazing team to bring my vision to life!

9. Im blessed 2 be so busy & thrilled to take my nearly SOLD OUT tour on the road promoting love, diversity, peace, bravery & pride.Oh n’ GLAM

The 27-year-old American Idol vet took to his Twitter to defend it: “Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy. It’s an [homage] to the past. It IS ridiculous. For those that don’t get it: oh well… Glad to have gotten your attention.”

Hugh Jackman Apologizes Over Twitter Blunder

Australian actor Hugh Jackman has been forced to uncover the secret team behind his online blogging - after an employee made an embarrassing error on his Twitter.com page.

The X-Men star has garnered thousands of fans on the social networking site, who are all following his regular online posts.

But Jackman's Twitter blogging came under scrutiny in his native country this week after he mistakenly referred to Sydney's famous Opera House as the 'Opera Centre.'

The star was subsequently forced to admit that he hadn't been updating the page himself - relying on a staff member in America to do his blogging for him.

He says, "I communicated it over the phone and when that got translated by someone American in my office it came out all wrong.

"I do know the Opera House is called the Opera House - I think I had my high school leaving assembly at the Opera House when I was 18 so I should know that one."

Jackman is not the first star to be caught using an online marketing team to manage their internet accounts - both 50 Cent and Britney Spears rely on staff members to help with their web exploits.

Social Networking Improves Productivity at Work

Sneaking in some Facebooking time at the office? Checking the tweets on Twitter in-between meetings? Don’t worry, it’s good for your work! Really.

A new study from the University of Melbourne revealed people who use the ‘workplace Internet for leisure browsing’ or WILB are 9 percent more productive than employees who do not.

Researchers believe the recreational WILB-ing actually refreshes employees and rejuvenates their concentration.

"Firms spend millions on software to block their employees from watching videos, using social networking sites or shopping online under the pretence that it costs millions in lost productivity," said a University Researcher. "That's not always the case."

But, before you friend your boss and let him see the dozens of updates to your feed as you comment your work day away, note there is a limit on productive WILB time.

The study found the improved productivity was greatest for people who spend less than 20 percent of their total time in the office engaging in WILB.

So, surf in moderation. Researchers cautioned, "those who behave with Internet addiction tendencies will have a lower productivity than those without.”

Madonna: 'Glad' to Be Single

She has been stepping out with model Jesus Luz recently, but Madonna is decidedly single – and happy to Tweet about it.

The singer, who is planning to adopt again from the African nation of Malawi, took to Twitter on March 25th in response to a comment posted to her pal Guy Oseary's account. "hello madonna," writes the poster, "honey am glad you are single again – you made your best music as a single woman! yeehaw!"

Tweeting back, Oseary wrote that he was sitting with Madonna, 50, and that she had this reply: "NOT AS GLAD AS I AM! M"

People has confirmed that the comment indeed came from Oseary's account.

Madonna's divorce from director Guy Ritchie was finalized in December.
