Hugh Jackman Takes Fitness Tips From The Rock

Hugh Jackman has been taking tips from former wrestler Dwayne Johnson as he struggles to bulk up for his latest Wolverine movie.

The Australian actor is bringing his X-Men character back for a second solo outing and director Darren Aronofsky has ordered him to hit the gym and make sure he is even more muscled for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel.

Jackman admits he's finding it tough to put on 25 pounds of muscle for the role as the clawed mutant before filming begins early next year, so he called The Rock for advice.

He told Entertainment Weekly, "(Twenty five pounds) is more than I ever have (put on) for the role. It's not easy for me. Because I'm actually quite long and lean. I had a chat with Dwayne Johnson, who did 25 pounds for his movie (Faster). I rang him up and was like, 'Okay, tell me what's going on'."

The website reports Jackman followed Johnson's tips and is now consuming around 6,000 calories a day to gain the extra muscle, gorging on chicken, steak, and brown rice.

Hugh Jackman Too Busy for Oscars...Again

Hugh Jackman has been forced to turn down the chance to host the Academy Awards for a second time due to scheduling conflicts.

The Australian actor hosted the Oscars in 2009 and was asked back for this year's show, but he couldn't accept the offer, leaving the job to Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.

Academy bosses have been left disappointed again after seeking out Jackman's talents for the 2011 bash, because the hunk is too busy shooting X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2.

According to Deadline.com, the blockbuster will be shot in both New York and Tokyo, Japan.

The next Academy Awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on February 27th.

Hugh Jackman Swaps Avon for Wolverine

Hugh Jackman has pulled out of a girlie role in new movie Avon Man to concentrate on bulking up for the next Wolverine blockbuster.

The Australian hunk had signed up to play an unemployed car dealer who swaps motors for cosmetics and becomes Avon's top selling door-to-door rep.

But Jackman has now quit the project, which was due to start filming this autumn, and will instead focus on preparing to reprise his role as a muscled mutant in a sequel to last year's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, according to Deadline.com.

Jackman will still act as a producer on Avon Man as movie bosses search for a replacement.

David Beckham's Reason for His New Furry Look

No, David Beckham isn't growing a beard because he's preparing for winter, or because his soccer team is in the play-offs. The real reason, he's said, is because Halloween's just around the corner. Duh. The soccer player wants to dress up as the mutant Marvel superhero Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman in the X-Men films, for the spooky holiday.

The 34-year-old soccer player, who has sons Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, 7, and 4-year-old Cruz with his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, said: “Halloween is coming up and I was thinking of Wolverine from X-Men. It’s not some play-off ritual. I’m just lazy and can’t be bothered to shave. And everybody keeps telling me to cut it and I’m stubborn.”

While David is proud of his beard, he recently topped a poll for having the worst facial hair in showbiz. Siobhan McDermott, head buyer of feelunique.com, who commissioned the poll, said: "Bad facial hair can be disastrous for even the best looking men.”

Although David's facial growth has been met with disapproval, he has received support from the Beard Liberation Front. The group's organizer Keith Flett said: "He's got a retro beard, if you look at it, it's almost like mutton chops. It's the kind of stuff soccer players had in the '70s. It's an interesting choice because he could have gone for the designer style beard that is trendy and fashionable."

Hugh Jackman Charms Japan

Hollywood heartthrob, Hugh Jackman charmed Japan as he promotes his X-Men Origins: Wolverine film at the same time his visit in Japan doubles up as a research trip for the sequel to his successful X-Men film.

Japan is one of the last country where X-men had its premiere nights, and like other premieres, the event was very successful as Hugh proved that he's truly a charming and bankable actor.

Hugh, in his interview with a local Japanese station told everyone that the most successful comic book, Wolverine was set in Japan, so hopefully he can do a sequel there as well.

X-men Origins: Wolverine is scheduled to be released in the US on Blu-Ray and DVD on September 15th.

Star Trek Beams To The Top Of The Box Office

The new Star Trek movie has beamed to the top of the U.S. box office, taking an astonishing $72.5 million in its opening weekend.

The figures give J.J. Abrams' film the biggest opening of any movie in the franchise's history, and forces last week's winner X-Men Origins: Wolverine into second place.

Hugh Jackman's comic book hit still managed impressive weekend takings of $27 million, taking its ten-day total to $129.6 million.

Romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past came in third with $10.5 million, followed by Beyonce's Obsessed with $6.6 million.

Zac Efron's 17 Again rounds out the top five with $4.4 million.

Hugh Jackman Thanks Fans for Movie Success

Hugh Jackman has thanked Wolverine fans for giving him and his new movie a $175 million opening week around the world.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine stormed to the top of box office charts all over the globe following its release last week and the Aussie star is extremely grateful to fans who turned out in droves to see it at the cinema.

He says, "I was blown away... (and) so grateful to the fans and to everybody who came out in force and seemed to love the movie.

"I just want to say thank you to them... I love my job. I feel like the luckiest guy."

And he admits the 'fan-demonium' means there will be a sequel.

He adds, "The fans have been very vocal about the story they want to hear and that’s the samurai story set in Japan."

Hugh Jackman Slashed Taylor Kitsch's Hand with Wolverine Claw

Actor Hugh Jackman left his X-men Origins: Wolverine co-star Taylor Kitsch with a bloody hand during filming - after accidentally slashing him with his metallic claws.

Jackman shares an intense fight scene with Kitsch's character Gambit in the comic book movie - and the Australian star admits he got a little too aggressive during one take.

He says, "We were having this fight scene and he has his staff and he goes to hit me and I stop him with my claws, and he pulls back really quickly.

"I'm looking at him because they (the directors) haven't called cut, and I'm looking at my claws and there's only two claws coming out, and I'm thinking, 'Where's the third claw?' I look up and it's sticking out of his hand. Straight into his hand and he's like, 'Whoa dude, something I said?'"

But Kitsch brushed off the injury and pressed ahead with shooting.

Jackman adds, "He pulls it (the claw) out, wipes the blood on his jeans and goes, 'Let's go'."

Wolverine Digs His Claws Into U.S. Audiences

Hugh Jackman's turn in X-men Origins: Wolverine has stormed the U.S. box office, slaughtering the competition with takings of $87 million in its opening weekend.

The action movie, a prequel to the original X-Men trilogy, tells the story of how Jackman's character Logan turns into his mutant alter-ego Wolverine.

The highly-anticipated film clawed in an impressive $35 million in first day sales alone on Friday - making it the second-best opening for the franchise. Only X-Men: The Last Stand, the third installment of the movie series, took more on day one with $45.1 million in 2006.

Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner's romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past debuted at number two, grossing $15.3 million, while last week's chart-topper, Beyonce Knowles thriller Obsessed, dropped to third place with $4.2 million.

Zac Efron's 17 Again is at four with takings of $2 million and The Soloist rounds out the top five with $1.7 million.

To get psyched up to play a New Orleans thief with a gift for killer card-throwing, Kitsch turned on his iPod and listened to the bluesy "John Lee Hooker – all the time," he says.

Hugh Jackman Orders Breakfast For Film Fans

Hugh Jackman rewarded hundreds of fans camping overnight to see him at the world premiere of X-men Origins: Wolverine by surprising them all with breakfast.

Followers in Tempe, Arizona won the chance to host the red carpet extravaganza in their desert city after claiming the most votes in an online poll, which Jackman launched himself.

Throngs of Tempe residents proved their dedication when they lined up outside the Tempe Marketplace on Sunday - a day before Jackman arrived for the premiere on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

And the generous actor decided to treat the crowd - by personally placing a call to a local cafe and ordering a breakfast of coffee and pastries for 800 people.

Paradise Bakery's assistant manager Arianna Arroyo says, "We were so surprised and amazed by the gesture, and I was thinking what a big challenge it would be to get everything done over.

"They were thrilled and really excited because they didn't expect something like that. People had made posters, were screaming at the media and it was so awesome to see.

"There are a lot of people waiting to just see him and it's pretty amazing what is happening out there just for one man."

Hugh Jackman's Stash Of X-rated Wolverine Extras

Hugh Jackman is hiding a secret stash of nude footage cut from his new movie X-men Origins: Wolverine.

While shooting the X-Men prequel, Jackman had to perform several stunts in the nude.

After his more intimate areas were hidden for the final cut, director Gavin Hood handed Jackman the X-rated extras for his own personal use.

The actor explains, "Our director gave me a little bag and inside it were about eight bits of film, all cut (from the movie). I said, 'That’s interesting,' then I held it up to the light and I said, 'Ok, now I know why that’s in a bag!'"

And he has vowed to keep the raunchy clips safely stashed away: "Now it’s in my safe somewhere. My privates in a bag."

Hugh Jackman Considered Quitting X-Men

Hugh Jackman contemplated walking away from the X-men franchise after the third movie, because he feared his character Wolverine had gone too "soft".

Jackman reprises his role as the superhero in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the fourth movie of the cult series which will be released this Friday, May 1st.

But the film almost didn't happen, because after Jackman had completed 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand he considered stepping down from the role amid concerns over his character's development.

He says, "One thing I never felt we got with Wolverine that I really wanted to get is that berserker rage which is talked about in the comic books.

"It felt like Wolverine had got a little soft by X-Men 3 and I wanted to take it back to that bad a** quality. He's tough, he's gruff, he's not politically correct - he doesn't say the right things.

"There has to be complexity to this character. He's very tough but there's a lot of pain, history to his life that you find out about. It's not pretty. He's a flawed character. That's what I like about it, that's why I'm doing it for the fourth time or else I wouldn't."

Wolverine's Mexico Premiere Postponed Due to Swine Flu

Not even a superhero is immune to the swine flu virus.

Twentieth Century Fox has decided to postpone the premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine set for Wednesday in Mexico City, as the city remains paralyzed by the virus that has killed over 100 people. Dozens of cases of swine flu have also been detected stateside. (For information about the swine flu, click here.)

"We were not only concerned about Hugh's welfare – and we would never send anyone into harm's way – but we also have an enormous office filled with people we care about," says a rep for the studio. "There was no point in proceeding under the current conditions."

The Mexico government has asked for residents to stay home, shutting down schools and even the nation's top movie-theater chains have opted to shut down dozens of cinemas. Hugh Jackman was the only cast member from the film expected to attend the Mexico City premiere.

"There is a possibility it could be rescheduled," the rep says of the premiere. "Hugh is obviously beloved [there] so we'll see what happens. We'll monitor the situation."

Hugh Jackman Covers Entertainment Weekly

Hugh Jackman looks ready to slice and dice up the summer move competition on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly.

The 40-year-old Aussie hunk has been on the road promoting X-Men Origins: Wolverine, out May 1. To prepare for the film, Hugh spent months following a hardcore bulk-building regimen. “I wanted to look like [Robert] De Niro did when he took off his shirt in Cape Fear and everyone went, ‘Whoa.’ You realized the guy was a freak,” recalls Hugh. “There were moments when I would wake up completely sore and say to my wife, ‘I have a feeling this is like childbirth.’”

Jacked-up Jackman also admits he applies a “What, me worry?” philosophy to everything he does. For instance, he knew he might risk his action-hero career by taking the leading role in The Boy From Oz on Broadway, as gay Aussie song-and-dance man Peter Allen. “I’ll never forget kissing a guy on stage and someone from the crowd shouting, ‘Don’t do it, Wolverine!,’” recalls Hugh. “I don’t waste time or energy with it. I think there’s far too much importance placed on people’s sexuality anyway. I love sex; it’s great, but it’s not the measure of love or a relationship. And whether you like girls or boys, whether you like the light on or off: Who cares? I always find sexuality one of the least interesting things about a person.”

Wolverine-turned-Spider-Man Hugh Jackman rappels down the side of The Sun newspaper building in London’s Wapping on Thursday.

The 40-year-old Aussie hunk was also seen at the BBC radio studios promoting his latest superhero flick, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman Heartbroken by Wolverine Leak

People's reigning Sexiest Man Alive doesn't think what happened to his new movie is very sexy.

"It's a serious crime and there's no doubt it's very disappointing – I was heartbroken by it," Hugh Jackman said Wednesday about last week's Internet leak of a work print of his X-Men Origins: Wolverine. "Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It's like a Ferrari without a paint job."

While Wolverine is set for official release on May 1st, its studio, 20th Century Fox, says the FBI and the Motion Picture Association of America were investigating who might have pirated it and have promised to prosecute the culprits.

As part of a world tour to promote the movie, Jackman, 40, previewed about 20 minutes to about 600 fans in Sydney, Australia, and said he didn't think the Web leak would harm eventual cinema attendance, the Associated Press reports. The star made his entrance from a helicopter – and then to the ground on an aerial wire.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Leaked Online

Web-savvy Hugh Jackman fans may not have to wait until May 1 to see the actor in the highly anticipated X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

On Tuesday, an unfinished version of the film was leaked online, according to BBC News. The copy, which was uploaded to file sharing sites, has incomplete special effects.

Meanwhile, Jackman, 40, announced during an appearance on On Air with Ryan Seacrest that there will be a contest to determine where the April 27 movie premiere will be held. Fans can vote for their hometown or favorite city on the official movie site.

"The town that has the most amount of votes is going to get us there," explained Jackman, People's reigning Sexiest Man Alive. "I hope we go to someplace I've never been in my life before."

Jackman then joked that he and the other stars (which include Liev Schreiber and Ryan Reynolds) will be – in a fashion move inspired by Wolverine – "all in tank tops."
