Betty White's a Hit on Saturday Night Live

Betty White fans have another reason to appreciate Facebook. Not only did it provide the platform to petition for the TV icon to host Saturday Night Live, it became a hilarious punch line in her opening monologue.

"When I first heard about the campaign to get me to host Saturday Night Live, I didn't know what Facebook was," White said. "And now that I do know what it is, I have to say it sounds like a huge waste of time."

The jokes continued – "When I was young we didn't have Facebook, we had phone book," she said, "but you wouldn't waste an afternoon with it" – but White's Facebook fans can rest assured their online effort wasn't a waste. In fact, the actress, who appeared in every skit, is getting rave reviews.

"All it took to reinvigorate a 35-year-old comedy show was the presence of an 88-year-old woman," writes Dave Itzoff of the New York Times. "The only real disappointment of the night was when the clock struck 1 a.m. and Ms. White and the cast had to step on stage to wave their goodbyes."

Whether singing her muffins' praises on NPR or donning a black ski mask for a hardcore version of The Golden Girls theme song, White shined on a night when SNL welcomed back many of its female heavy hitters, including Molly Shannon, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer.

"Her comic delivery is still formidable," says the Chicago Tribune's Maureen Ryan. "The show would be smart to extend an open invitation to White to return as host any time, but given how in demand she is, who knows if she'd be able to make it back?"

And even musical guest Jay-Z seemed in awe of White. After his second song, "Young Forever," he dedicated the performance to "the most incredible Betty White."

Johnny Depp Heads Up GQ’s Picks For Most Stylish Guys On The Planet

Johnny Depp appears smiling, tattooed, and bare-chested on the cover of February’s GQ, and even unclothed, makes the magazine’s list of the 25 most stylish men in the world for 2010.

In the accompanying article, Barney’s creative director Simon Doonan sums up why, explaining, “Johnny Depp’s a unicorn—a really glamorous, one-of-a-kind eccentric. He wears great man jewelry. He doesn’t shy away from color. He’s always peeking through his amazing hair. It doesn’t matter if Johnny Depp’s lying in a ditch—he’s always going to look incredible.”

Despite their completely divergent aesthetics, fellow Brits Robert Pattinson, Russell Brand, and David Beckham all share the style honors, along with Brad Pitt, Jay-Z and Clint Eastwood, who received a special accolade as “Hall of Famer.”

The February issue of GQ hits newsstands nationwide on January 26th, but in the meantime, head to http://www.gq.com/ for more and vote for your pick for most stylish guy.

Rihanna, Kanye West and Jay-Z to Open
New Jay Leno Show

R&B stars Rihanna, Kanye West and Jay-Z will perform on the premiere of Jay Leno's comedy and chat show in September, in a apparent bid to grab hip, young viewers to NBC's new primetime experiment.

NBC said on Thursday that the trio would perform "Run This Town" from Jay-Z's new album, "The Blueprint 3," when "The Jay Leno Show" makes its debut on September 14th at 10pm.

It will be one of the first, major public performances for Rihanna, 21, since she was assaulted in February by her then boyfriend, singer Chris Brown.

Rihanna, rapper West and Jay-Z are among the most popular R&B artists in the United States.

NBC's decision to move the popular late night talk show host to the primetime slot five days a week is being closely watched by the TV industry as it seeks to trim costs and retain audiences.

Leno told reporters this week that his show would have more comedy and less chat. New features include a "green car" challenge in which celebrities will be invited to race a high-tech electric car round a track built outside Leno's new studio.

Brown has pleaded guilty to punching Rihanna in Los Angeles in February and is expected to be sentenced later this month to five years probation and 180 days of community service.

Leona Lewis to Work With Timbaland, Jay-Z and will.i.am in New Album

Leona Lewis will reportedly enter recording booth alongside powerhouse producer/rapper Timbaland for her upcoming sophomore set. "Timbaland can't wait to work with Leona and make her feisty like Beyonce [Knowles] and Rihanna," a source says as quoted by The Mirror.

Other big names rumored to be lined up to help Leona in the new album are Jay-Z and will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. No official statement has been given regarding the news though.

Previously, Justin Timberlake has been confirmed to produce one of Leona Lewis' new singles called "Don't Let Me Down". He visited Chalice Recording Studios when the winner of 2006 "The X Factor" recorded the new track back in March.

Details on what fans can expect from the new album are still unclear. But, a spokesperson for Leona promises that the record will still have the singer's trademark ballad tunes in addition to danceable sounds. "The ballads will still be there but the tracks will be racier and there'll be dancefloor anthems too," the spokesperson says. "It's early stages but we're all very excited."
