2010 American Music Awards: Tonight on ABC!

ABC will be presenting the 38th annual American Music Awards tonight with preformances by Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Ne-Yo, Usher, Bon Jovi, Sean Comb's Diddy-Dirty Money, the pairing of Carlos Santana and Gavin Rossdale, and for the first time, Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block will perform together.

Eminem and Lady Antebellum lead the way with five nominations each, while Justin Bieber followed with four and B.o.B, Katy Perry, Ke$ha and Usher each took three.

Eminem & Lady Antebellum Lead American Music Awards Nominees

It will be a rap vs. country music showdown at this year's American Music Awards: Eminem and Lady Antebellum are each nominated for five trophies at the ceremony.

The artists lead the pack of nominees, which were announced Tuesday morning.

Close behind, Tween star Justin Bieber earned four nods – while B.o.B., Katy Perry, Ke$ha and Usher received three nominations. And Taylor Swift was nominated in the country favorite female category.

A lively telecast, this year's AMAs, which will be broadcast from L.A.'s Nokia Theater on Nov. 21 (8 p.m. ET), will feature performances by nominee Usher, Pink and Bon Jovi, with more performers and presenters to be reveled in the coming weeks.

For the fourth year, fans can determine the winners, voting for their favorites on the show's official website. You can also review the list of nominees on their website.

Adam Lambert to Return to ABC

It looks like Adam Lambert and ABC are ready to kiss and make up.

The Idol runner-up will join the ladies of The View this Thursday to discuss his wild year.

After the singer's sexually-charged performance on the American Music Awards, the network canceled his scheduled New Year's Eve appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and his performance on Good Morning America.

The View episode will air the morning after Barbara Walters's primetime special featuring the year's Most Fascinating People, which includes Lambert.

Lambert's appearance on The View has been pre-taped – preventing any unexpected on-air surprises.

Jennifer Lopez Still Sore from Fall at Award Show

Her sense of humor may have survived the little fall she took at this year's American Music Awards, but Jennifer Lopez still has a sore derriere from the slip.

"I have a bruised bone," she tells Ellen DeGeneres for an episode of the talk show to air Thursday. "What happened was one of the dancers' backs was slippery from sweat and lights and everything. We never bargained for that because they always had T-shirts on in rehearsal.

"So they were barebacked, didn't have shirts on for the performance, and when I stepped on their backs my feet got wet. So when I landed. it just slipped from under me."

But Lopez, 40, credits her quick recovery to the excitement of the moment. "That's kind what I felt the rest of the performance: Did I fall? It happened so fast," she says. "I was up and all I could think was, I have to get the next beat. I have to do this dance solo right now. I had no time to think about it."

Only afterward did she realize what had happened.

"Then I get to the back, and one the dancers was like, 'Are you OK?' Oh my god that's right, I fell," she says. "It was awful, but, you know, it happened."

Adam Lambert Jokes Being a People Magazine "Sexy Man" Inspired Performance

Adam Lambert's performance at the American Music Awards – during which he locked lips with a male and simulated oral sex – was deemed too sexual for some. And just weeks before that, the American Idol finalist was featured in People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive issue. Coincidence? Maybe not: Lambert jokes that inclusion on the Sexy Man list may have inspired him.

"I don't know, maybe it went to my head and that's why I did the performance the way I did," the singer, 27, quipped to eTalk, a Canadian entertainment program.

Still, he said of the title, "It's very flattering. I don't think of myself like that, so that's crazy."

But does Lambert, who split from his longtime boyfriend, Drake LaBry, in October, think that being a Sexy Man will help him get more dates?

"No," he told eTalk, laughing. "I don't really have much of a social life right now."

CBS Explains Why They Blurred Adam Lambert’s Kiss

Adam Lambert kissed his straight keyboardist Tommy Ratliff during his sexually charged American Music Awards performance on Sunday.

On a Wednesday segment during the CBS Early Show, the kiss was blurred out before showing unedited footage of Madonna and Britney Spears making out.

A rep for CBS finally has spoken up, telling Extra: “We gave this some real thought. The Madonna image is very familiar and has appeared countless times including many times on morning television. The Adam Lambert image is a subject of great current controversy, has not been nearly as widely disseminated, and for all we know, may still lead to legal consequences.”

Is Adam Lambert a 'Role Model' or 'Nightmare'?

Adam Lambert knows that, as a performer with an over-the-top stage act, audiences are going to love him or hate him – and he's fine with either.

"I could be somebody's role model, but on the flip side I could be somebody's worst nightmare at the same time," the singer, 27, tells Popeater. "You never know how you're going to affect people, being in this position."

Right now, the "nightmare" tag seems to be predominant among many, since his overtly sexual show at the American Music Awards on Sunday infamously caused ABC to cancel Lambert's morning-show performance a couple days later.

"If you are in the public eye and you are a certain type of persona, you're putting certain ideas out there you're bound to have people look up to them," he says. "You're also bound to have people who completely reject them and hate you for it."

But despite the negative feelings some people have about him, Lambert says the positive things he can do outweigh all that.

"The role model thing is interesting, it's kind of like a catch 22," he says. "Part of me is like, 'That's flattering.' And if I'm helping people find truth in their lives or lead lives [that] are more open themselves, if they feel that they also want to be comfortable in their skin, then that's great. If I can inspire that, I'm thrilled."

CBS nabbed Lambert to sit down and perform on Wednesday's The Early Show as well as the Late Show With David Letterman. During the morning interview, he admitted the one thing he would do differently is "sing better," and that the questionable actions were not rehearsed but impromptu.

"When I got up on stage, I don't think about things like, 'this is network television, what time is it, what children were watching?' I just was in the moment," he said. "I did get carried away, but I don't see anything wrong with it."

Adam Lambert's Sexually-Charged Act on the American Music Awards Draws Complaints

ABC television said on Monday it had received about 1,500 complaints about the sexually-charged performance by "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert at the American Music Awards on Sunday.

Millions of viewers saw Lambert simulate oral sex with a back-up dancer, plant a passionate kiss on the mouth of a male keyboard player and gesture to the audience with his middle finger during the closing act of the live music awards show.

Lambert, 27, said his goal was "not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom".

ABC cut the most controversial part of his act -- Lambert rubbing the face of a male dancer in his crotch -- from the U.S. West Coast telecast that aired later on Sunday.

But by then, the singer's racy rendition of his debut single "For Your Entertainment" was already on its way to becoming one of the most provocative TV moments in the music industry since Madonna and Britney Spears kissed on the MTV Video Music Awards show in 2003.

Adam Lambert was among the top 10 most popular topics on Twitter on Monday.

American Music Awards producers, Dick Clark Productions, said they were unaware from rehearsals what Lambert had planned. "We did not expect the impromptu moments," a spokeswoman told Reuters.

An estimated 14.2 million viewers watched the "American Music Awards" telecast, the largest audience since 2002, ABC said, based on preliminary viewing figures.

Lambert, 27, who publicly declared he was gay after "American Idol" ended in May, said his act with dancers in bondage costumes, was no different from the erotic performances of some female pop singers. He added that much of the sexual energy he brought to Sunday's show was "in the moment."

"Adrenaline is a crazy, crazy, crazy feeling. Some of the things I love most about performing is when you're up there and all of the sudden you just have these feelings, this rush that comes over you," Lambert told CNN afterward.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which has strict rules on the broadcast of indecent or profane material, said it could not confirm or deny receiving complaints.

The FCC fined CBS $550,000 for broadcasting a fleeting glimpse of Janet Jackson's breast to roughly 90 million TV viewers of the 2004 Super Bowl half-time show, which Jackson famously blamed on a wardrobe malfunction.

It was unclear whether ABC could be at risk of an FCC fine because Lambert's performance was broadcast around 11 pm in most of the nation, outside the FCC's 6am-10pm time frame prohibiting the broadcast of indecent material.

Entertainment Weekly music reporter Michael Slezak wrote that Lambert's first major TV outing since the "American Idol" show "felt less like a genuine expression of his high-octane sexuality...and more like a carefully planned stab at dominating the post-AMA blogosphere/water-cooler discussion."

Lambert released his debut album, also titled For Your Entertainment", on Monday and by midday it was No. 11 on the iTunes albums charts.

Taylor Swift &Michael Jackson Win Big at the American Music Awards

How hot is Taylor Swift right now? The country star dominated the American Music Awards on Sunday night – and she wasn't even there.

After sweeping the Country Music Association Awards earlier this month, Swift won a leading three American Music Awards, including Favorite Artist of the Year, all while she was in London.

A stunned and momentarily speechless Swift, 19, gave her acceptance speech via satellite, paying homage to the night's other big winner, Michael Jackson.

"To even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson … is an unimaginable honor," said Swift, who also won Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Adult-Contemporary Artist, Favorite Country Album for Fearless and Favorite Country Female Artist. "I'm sending my love to the Jackson family."

Jackson won four trophies: Favorite Soul/R&B Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Vocalist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Soul/R&B Album, both for Number Ones, giving him a record 23 AMAs over his career.

"It's not just about the winnings, the awards," his brother Jermaine said in an acceptance speech. "It's mainly the message. The message Michael had will live on forever. He saw good in everyone. … Start with love and let's love each other."

Sister Janet Jackson got a standing ovation when she opened the show with a choreographed-heavy medley of her hits.

But the applause for Jackson turned into shock and awe by the end of the show, when American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert took the stage in a silver suit and cane to close out the night. The pompadoured and glammed-out singer gyrated against his dancers and kissed a male band member. The spectacle instantly lit up Twitter as fans debated whether he was a fresh match for Lady Gaga or too unseasoned for such a prime gig.

So You Think Jennifer Lopez Can Dance? She Can!

Jennifer Lopez fans have another reason to catch her comeback performance live at the 2009 American Music Awards tonight. That’s because when the “Fresh Out the Oven” singer takes the stage, she’ll be moving to choreography by So You Think You Can Dance’s Emmy-nominated husband and wife team Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo — or as they’re affectionately known in the dance community, Nappytabs.

“It is an exciting thing for us and one of the things we’ve always wanted to do,” Napoleon said of their chance to work with one of their longtime dance idols.

“You can expect to be entertained and you won’t be disappointed,” assures Tabitha, who has been teaching dance professionally with Napoleon for 15 years (11 of those as husband and wife).

The pair, who has worked with stars like Beyoncé and Missy Elliott, is known for an innovative lyrical hip-hop style that has garnered them quite a following since they joined the FOX show in 2008. And that following includes Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony.

“She told us she and her husband sit down and watch the show weekly,” says Tabitha, who describes Lopez as the ideal artists to work with. “She’s putting the time in and you don’t always get that with the artist. They have such crazy schedules and sometimes their priorities are a little bit different, but she’s really involved.”

Napoleon describes her big number as “her coming back to being in her own and saying, ‘Hey, this is me again — don’t forget about it!’”

For now, the team won’t reveal details of what they call a “big production” with “lots of people involved,” but “without giving it away,” teased Tabitha, she’ll be singing “a great song. It’s going to be on her new album and … I feel like it’s appropriate. It’s got a good tempo. It’s got a good vibe and it’s really exciting for us. When we heard it, we were like, ‘We’re going to have some fun with this one!’”

Aside from Nappytabs, Jennifer has an added support team in husband Marc and their 21-month-old twins Emme and Max who, according to Tabitha and Napoleon, have been regular fixtures at rehearsals.

“Marc’s really supportive,” explains Napoleon. “He’s great with the kids and then he still pays enough attention to her and goes, ‘Maybe you could do a move like this or that?’”

“It’s adorable to watch them together,” Tabitha says.

And it sounds like the little ones take after their parents when it comes to having all the moves. “The kids are always with us at rehearsal, running around and dancing in the mirrors,” Napoleon says. “As soon as the music starts playing, they are dancing around.”

Like any good comeback, Lopez’s live performance at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre on Sunday will show off her confidence. Says Napoleon: “You can expect her to come out fighting and she’s going to show that she’s got a knock-out punch!”

Janet Jackson to Star in Opening Number at the American Music Awards

Janet Jackson is slated to be the opening number at the American Music Awards this year. The "All For You" singer is going to be the star of the medley which will open the show November 22nd. Her late brother Michael is nominated for 5 awards.

American Music Awards producer Larry Klein said: “We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show. She is an incredibly dynamic performer and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store.”

This will be the fourth AMAs performance for the star, who has won 9 of the awards in previous years, and follows her moving tribute to her brother at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in September.

It was announced earlier this week Whitney Houston, who has won a huge 21 AMAs from 37 nominations, will be honored with the International Artist Award and perform her new single 'I Didn't Know My Own Strength' at the star-studded ceremony. Other stars to perform at this year's AMAs at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre include Lady Gaga, Eminem, Jay-Z, Shakira, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Green Day, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

The 46-year-old singer will join other previously announced acts including Rihanna, Green Day, Shakira, Mary J. Will her AMA appearance be "rated R"?

Pop-diva Rihanna will perform at the 37th Annual American Music Awards on November 22nd on ABC. She will join previously announced performers Adam Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and the Black Eyed Peas.

A three-time AMA winner, Rihanna last appeared on the AMA stage in 2008 performing "Rehab," and in 2007, she showed off "Hate That I Love You" with Ne-Yo and her hit "Umbrella".

This year's nominees are led by Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson, and also include Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon, Eminem and T.I.

Rihanna, who recently released the power ballad "Russian Roulette," will drop her fourth album, Rated R, on November 23rd.

Having already received multiple nominations for the Grammys, CMAs and MTV VMAs, Taylor Swift can now add a few more accolades to her collection.

On Tuesday, the country star, 19, received five American Music Awards nominations – including favorite female country music artist, favorite female pop artist and artist of the year.

Michael Jackson was another top nominee, with five nominations, followed by rapper Eminem who nabbed four. Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon and T.I. each received three.

Paula Abdul, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert and Snoop Dogg revealed the nominees and the show's performance lineup, which includes Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys and the Black Eyed Peas.

For the first time in the show's 37-year history, fans will be able to determine the final four nominees of the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist Award by voting on http://www.abc.com/.
