Gay Doritos Ads Won't Air

The pair of gay-themed Doritos ads that made the rounds on the Web Monday won’t air during the Super Bowl, according to a spokesman for Frito-Lay.

Frito-Lay director of public relations Chris Kuechenmeister told the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation the ads were two out of 5,600 that were submitted to the company for its “Crash the Super Bowl” contest.

He said the ads were not among the finalists chosen by a panel of judges and have no chance of airing during the Super Bowl or otherwise.

The ads, which ran on The Advocate, sparked mixed reaction from gay viewers. One ad features two men steaming in the sauna as one man seductively eyes the other’s crotch. In a second ad a man gazes across the fence at his two gay neighbors, who are sunning themselves and eating Doritos by the pool.

Kuechenmeister said the contest’s judges sought to “identify spots that were appropriate for everyone” and “observe a level of respect for everybody.”

He said though the ads don’t appear on the contest’s official page and the company has no direct ability to remove them, he would be raising the issue with the company’s legal team.

Jennifer Lopez & Her Twins Star in Gucci’s New Children’s Ad Campaign

After weeks of speculation as to whether or not Jennifer Lopez would star alongside her two-year-old twins, Emme and Max, in Gucci’s latest campaign, the fashion house finally confirmed this week that the beautiful threesome is indeed gracing the ads for the yet-to-launch line, which will hit stores in spring 2011.

“Jennifer Lopez stars in new Gucci children’s advertising campaign,” they Tweeted.

And while Jennifer lends her flawless face and utterly adorable offspring to the campaign, in return, the fashion house will make a donation to UNICEF and the Maribel Foundation which Jennifer started with her sister Lynda, according to WWD.

Renowned fashion photographers, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot captured the campaign this summer on the beach in Malibu, California where the adorable pack, dressed up in Gucci, got glam in the sand.

The Hot Old Spice Guy is at it Again

The hot and hilarious Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa is back — and he’s not on a boat. Or in the shower. Or on a horse.

Instead, he’s balancing on a log in a lake, swan diving down a rocky waterfall and taking a dip in a hot tub — on a motorcycle. Following the tone of the original spot that went viral after airing during the Winter Olympics and the Super Bowl, Mustafa has a few questions for the ladies.

“Do you like the smell of adventure?” he asks in the ad. “Do you want a man who smells like he could bake you a gourmet cake in the dream kitchen he built for you with his own hands?”

Earlier this month, Mustafa signed a talent deal with NBC.

Mascara Ad Cashes in on Ricky Martin Coming Out

A make-up firm has capitalised on Ricky Martin’s announcement that he is gay – by using the news to promote its waterproof mascara.

Britain's Yardley TripleXXX lash mascara is being promoted as ‘tear-proof’ – a necessity for the singer’s legion of adoring female fans, who may well have been left grief-stricken by the turn of events.

Last month the Livin’ La Vida Loca singer posted on his official website: ‘I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.'

Martin, who had always dodged questions about his sexuality, told fans he decided to come out while writing his memoirs.

Another contributing factor was the birth of his twins via an anonymous surrogate.

The Puerto Rican star admitted 'fear and insecurity' made him keep quiet about his sexuality but told of his 'happiness' at finally revealing who he is.

Martin, 38, posted: 'To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where [sic] born with.'

In 2000, TV journalist Barbara Walters grilled him about whether he was gay, but he refused to disclose it.

The singer began his career with boy band Menudo and broke out as a solo artist and teen idol in the 1990s in Spanish-speaking countries.

He released his first, English-language album in 1999, the self-titled Ricky Martin, which saw two major hits, Livin' La Vida Loca and She's All I Ever Had.

James Franco Returns as Gucci Cologne Frontman

Following James Franco’s good-natured spoof of his earlier Gucci Pour Homme fragrance ad campaign on Funny Or Die, the actor is officially back in front of the camera for the Italian luxury brand’s latest scent, Gucci by Gucci Sport pour Homme.

“James Franco is perfect for this fragrance and perfect for Gucci,” the brand’s creative director, Frida Giannini stated in a recent interview. “He personifies the sort of nonchalance and unforced appeal that is most attractive in a man. In the advertising campaign, he captures the fragrance’s casual, modern and masculine air.”

Shot by famed fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in Cannes, France, the new series depicts a very wet and chiseled Franco gazing seductively into the camera after a fully-clothed dip in a pool.

The sporty fragrance, a mix of fresh citrus scents and masculine undertones like veviter, is available in stores now with products ranging from a deodorant stick for $27 to a 50 ml spray at $57.

Meet the Hot New Old Spice Guy

He looks so hot and smells so cool – in the shower, on a boat and atop a horse in the Old Spice commercial that's been mesmerizing audiences all through the Winter Olympics. Now, thanks to the TV spot's immense popularity, "the man your man could smell like," actor Isaiah Mustafa, is riding high in real life, too.

Since the commercial first launched on YouTube Feb. 4, views have skyrocketed to nearly 2.9 million. Mustafa, 36, also appears in a smoking jacket in another deliciously cheesy spot on the Old Spice Web site, declaring that women "should smell like butterflies and salt water taffy" and men like "jet fighters and punching."

Since the commercial first aired, job opportunities have followed, Mustafa told the Los Angeles Times in a revealing profile.

Despite his sharply scripted monologue, the smug, over-the-top attitude of Mustafa's character wasn't planned. The day before the shoot, Mustafa called to chat with a pal from his days at Arizona State University, Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer. When Plummer didn't answer, Mustafa decided to leave a rehearsal of the commercial's script on his friend's answering machine.

"I just did it for him, and I did it extra big, and then when I hung up, I thought, 'Maybe I should try it that way and see if they like it,' " Mustafa told the Times.

The ad honchos did like it – and so did audiences. The commercial, which takes Mustafa from the shower to a boat to a horse on the beach all in one shot (fans can also watch the making of the video), could be the big break for Mustafa, who's previously played a bailiff on Ugly Betty, a cop on Days of Our Lives and, most recently, a small role on ABC's Castle.

Here's what else you need to know about this on-the-rise actor (be forewarned): He's not available. He has a dancer girlfriend – "professional, not pole," Mustafa is quick to clarify. He also played receiver for the Seattle Seahawks and in NFL Europe, and he used to run a Ventura, Calif., barbecue restaurant with his mother, who's still there.

And while he may be an expert at dropping the towel, it appears Mustafa is also adept at keeping his newfound fame in check. As he recently Tweeted: "Raised in a house of women. I'll get backhanded if I even attempted to get bigheaded."

Kellan Lutz is the New Face (and Body!) of
Calvin Klein Underwear

Following in the famously buff footsteps of Mark Wahlberg and Djimon Hounsou, Kellan Lutz is the newest Hollywood hunk to strip down for Calvin Klein Underwear — specifically to launch their new Calvin Klein X Underwear range.

“I started out modeling so this is the pinnacle,” Lutz said of the Spring 2010 campaign. “What more can you do than be on a billboard for something that you grew up thinking was super sexy and classy? It’s really prestigious and I love it.”

Along with fellow actor Mehcad Brooks, Spanish tennis star Fernando Verdasco and Japanese soccer player Hidetoshi Nakata, the Twilight star is stripping down to his logo-ed skivvies for provocative B&W ads shot by Mikael Jansson.

So was he anxious about taking it all off? “With modeling, there are guys who do the Zoolander thing and it shows off as desperation,” says Lutz. “You just have to have confidence, kick back and have fun with it.”

As for his newly beefed up sex symbol image, the star offers this (perhaps flawed) perspective. “I don’t see myself as perfect. I never will be and I never want to be,” he says. “I’m not the good-looking guy with the nice hair like [Twilight co-star] Rob Pattinson. I enjoy being not so pretty.”

The ads will start rolling out in March, so from magazines to your TV to billboards, you can expect to see a lot more Lutz in your life.

Behind the Scenes at Josh Holloway’s Sexy Cool Water Ad Shoot

Josh Holloway is venturing into modeling again, stepping in front of the camera for the second time for Davidoff Cool Water cologne for the scent’s newest campaign.

The ads will feature the 40-year-old star looking tanned, buff, brooding and shirtless with the sea as a backdrop — just like his character Sawyer on Lost.

“I am very honored to represent Davidoff Cool Water again for this new campaign. Cool Water represents power, masculinity and freshness. That’s what the ocean is to me. The power of Cool is back!” says Holloway in a statement.
The Hawaii resident and extreme-sports fan continues, “I love Cool Water because it is simple, powerful and timeless. To me, the Cool Water man is not someone who is trying to be cool, he is someone who is comfortable with his masculinity.”

The campaign was shot by famed fashion photographer Mikael Jansson on the luscious beaches of Hawaii, with the ads breaking this week.

Did Coca-Cola Just Make A Really Gay Ad Without Even Knowing It?

A singing bear atop a cheerleader's pyramid … in a Speedo. A giant rainbow. Sheep in honeycomb couture. All for a product with zero calories. If Coca-Cola Zero isn't intentionally being marketed to gays here, they should find a new creative agency.
