Betty White: Rue McClanahan's Death 'Hurts More Than I Ever Thought'

She's now the last living Golden Girl. For Betty White the loss of her costar Rue McClanahan struck hard.

"Rue was a close and dear friend. I treasure our relationship," White, 88, said in a statement. "It hurts more than I ever thought it would, if that's even possible."

McClanahan died early Thursday at age 76 after suffering a stroke, following the deaths of costars Bea Arthur last year at age 86 and Estelle Getty in 2008 at age 84 .

Golden Girls producer and writer Marc Cherry also expressed sadness over McClanahan's death. "When I worked on The Golden Girls, my favorite character to write for was Blanche Devereaux," he said Friday. "In the hands of lesser actresses Blanche's vanity and sexual appetite would have been off-putting. But in Rue's brilliant hands, that character became one of the most beloved in the history of T.V. Rue's kindness, generosity and enormous talent will be sorely missed."

American Idol's Lee DeWyze & Crystal Bowersox Fail to Climb the Billboard Charts

This season’s American Idol champ Lee DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox failed to achieve much Billboard success with their debut singles.

Of the three DeWyze cuts to debut this week, his most successful is “Beautiful Day” at No. 24. Bowersox’s “Up To the Mountain” only managed to climb to No. 57.

Combined, they debuted five songs, an underwhelming showing considering the finale was last week.

Last season, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert combined for nine chart entries the week after AI‘s finale.

Lady Gaga Says Her Mom Looks Like Madonna

Lady Gaga has quickly risen in the celeb ranks to become a fashion, music and gay icon -- which causes lots of comparisons between her and Madonna. But Gaga insists the physical resemblance is just genetics.

She explained to talk show host Larry King: "We're compared to each other, whether we're blonde, brunette, black, white, straight, gay. But on another level, it's kind of funny, because my mother actually looks sort of like Madonna. And the older I've gotten, I look more and more like my mother. So sometimes I just want to say, it's not my fault that I look like her."

The 24-year-old star recently admitted her parents always believed she was "different" from her peers but supported her because of her ambition.

She said: "My mother is the strongest person on the planet. My parents always knew I was different, I was never a normal kid. I talked differently. My dad used to say, 'Just get to the point.' I do that with my lyrics now. It's a testament when you achieve things like that when you're young. My parents really supported me."

“I Love You Phillip Morris” Delayed AGAIN!

Release of the Jim Carrey-Ewan McGregor love story I Love You Phillip Morris had been postponed again – this time by the courts!

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009 and focuses on a love affair between a con man (Carrey) and his cellmate (McGregor). Its release date has been pushed back several times, most recently from February to March then to April and finally to July 30th.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a California District Court judge has issued a preliminary injunction preventing the U.S. release of the indie comedy.

The movie was produced by French movie studio EuropaCorp, which licensed domestic rights to Consolidated Pictures Group. But the Luc Besson-backed EuropaCorp says it never got the full $3 million advance that Consolidated agreed to pay last year. An agreement between the two parties was amended in February to allow Consolidated to pay in three installments, but EuropaCorp says it still didn’t receive any money.

The latest target for release of the film is October.

LeAnn Rimes: 'I Take Responsibility for Everything'

LeAnn Rimes believes everything happens for a reason.

"I did one of the most selfish things that I possibly could do, in hurting someone else," the country superstar says in the new issue of People Magazine, speaking for the first time about the end of her 7-year marriage last year, following an affair with married actor Eddie Cibrian.

"I take responsibility for everything I've done. I hate that people got hurt," says Rimes. "But I don't regret the outcome."

Rimes, 27, who is now in a committed relationship with Cibrian, 36 (their respective divorces will be final soon), says they became friends while shooting the TV movie Northern Lights in November 2008, and it wasn't until several months later that their relationship "tipped over."

"It was very emotionally driven," says the singer, whose new single "Swingin'" off her upcoming covers album Lady and Gentlemen is out June 14. "I never once thought what I was doing was okay."

She says she and Dean Sheremet, 29 – a former dancer who is now a chef at Nobu in New York City and has been dating photographer Sarah Silver since last year – worked on their relationship after her infidelity became public, but ultimately decided that "it wasn't a marriage that fulfilled either one of us," says Rimes.

For more on Rimes's split, her emotional year and her new life with Cibrian, pick up the new issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands today.

Golden Girls Star Rue McClanahan Dies at 76

Golden Girl Rue McClanahan has died at the age of 76.

"She passed away at 1 am this morning," her manager, Barbara Lawrence reported. "She had a massive stroke."

McClanahan, who played man-happy Blanche Devereaux on the still-popular '80s sitcom Golden Girls, had suffered a minor stroke earlier this year while recovering from bypass surgery. Lawrence adds that at the time of her death Thursday, McClanahan "had her family with her. She went in peace."

Still in syndication, Golden Girls ran on NBC from 1985 to 1992. Only last year, McClanahan's costar, Beatrice Arthur, died from cancer. Estelle Getty died in 2008. Surviving star Betty White, 88, is currently enjoying a remarkable resurgence in her career, having recently hosted Saturday Night Live.

Born in Healdton, Oklahoma, Rue lived in six towns by the time she was 8. Her father was a road builder who moved from one project to another. She found solace in acting ("the only thing I ever wanted to do") and after four years at the University of Tulsa moved to New York, where she worked as a part-time file clerk while trying to find jobs in the theater.

Her first job was off Broadway, in 1957, and she finally hit Broadway in 1969. TV work came from soap operas, until she made it on CBS's Maude, starring Beatrice Arthur, starting in 1972. She played Maude's best friend Vivian.

But it was Golden Girls that put her on the map and led to fame, fortune – and several husbands. In all, she had six, including actor Morrow Wilson, whom she wed in 1997 and who survives her, as does a son, Mark Bish, from her first marriage.

As McClanahan told People Magazine in 1986: "I've always been lucky enough to marry good cooks. One cooked Greek. One cooked Tex-Mex – chili and stuff." Then, with a laugh, she added, "True, one needed a recipe to make a peanut butter sandwich ..."

On Father's Day, People en Español Magazine Honors Openly Gay Dad, Ricky Martin

Officially on sale this Friday but in New York City newsstands right now, this is the cover of the Father's Day issue of People en Español.

It's not the first time that Ricky Martin has posed with his twins for the magazine - the first time was December of 2008 - but it's the first time he has done so as an openly gay man. I believe it is also the first official on-the record story since his coming out.

How great is it that the editors of one of the most widely read Spanish-language magazines in the United States would deem it fit to honor Ricky Martin and his parenting as an openly gay man and, in doing so, highlight gay parenting in general? Appropriately, I also happened to come upon this story today on what a number of bloggers are celebrating as the 5th Annual Blogging for LGBT Families Day,

The cover story did not happen in a vacuum, though. Armando Correa, the current editor of People en Español, is also an openly gay man and father of two children. He is also the author of " En Busca de Emma: Dos Padres, Una Hija y Un Sueño de Una Familia" in which he chronicles how he and his partner explored different possibilities for child-rearing and how they came to raise their first daughter.

Obviously for Armando, this was a story that was personal as well and I am sure that it played into why Ricky Martin gave People en Español the exclusive story. In any case, it's great! If you would like to thank Armando Correa for running the cover story, please follow him on Twitter and send him a Tweet or two.

We got wind of the cast of Logo's new "gay housewives" show. And it's filled with just the fame-hungry, attractive, horrible people you could have imagined. They're all models! This is going to be a fantastic mess.

The show, which was initially called Kept, is now tentatively being called The A List and is scheduled to air on Logo sometime this fall after taping in NYC this summer. Just as we told you—and despite his denial at first—D-lister and former reality show contestant Reichen Lehmkuhl has signed up to be a part of the cast along with his boyfriend. That means of the six people cast on the show, five of them work as models, have worked as models, or claim to work as models. Yay, abs and shallowness! Let's meet our gaggle of famewhores, shall we?

Housewife Equivalent: Bethenny Frankel.

Scott Evans Lands a New Role!

Writing Scott Evans character of Oliver Fish out of One Life to Live has got to be one of the biggest bonehead decisions in the history of daytime soaps.

The character had been on such a journey and had managed to continue to do his job as a police officer as he came to terms with his sexuality.

The exit of Fish and boyfriend Kyle Lewis (Brett Claywell) still makes many fans of One Live to Live absolutely furious.

But Evans has moved on.

AfterElton.com’s Gays of Our Lives column reports that the actor will appear in the gay indie film The One, which will also star hunky Jon Prescott as Evans’ love interest.

Prescott recently appeared on As the World Turns where he played Mike Kasnoff and One Life to Live where he played
persistently shirtless pool boy Chad.

The movie is described as “a quick-witted, tender romantic dramedy about a young, successful Manhattan investment banker who lives the charmed Upper East Side Manhattan life about to marry the woman of his dreams who, a month before his wedding, meets and unexpectedly falls in love with a charismatic man from his past.”

Evans and Prescott will reportedly have three love scenes. Hot!

Filming starts on the movie in June.

Paparazzi!: Team Player

A dapper David Beckham heads to London's Heathrow Airport catch a flight to South Africa for the World Cup on Wednesday. The soccer star will be there for moral support for the England team: Beckham isn't playing, having stepped down from his duties as team captain due to an injured Achilles heel.

Sneak Peek: Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" Video

The wait is almost over!

Fans of Lady Gaga, who've already mastered the dance sequences in the video for "Telephone," will be up for another challenge on Monday when the singer will reportedly release her latest video for the current single, "Alejandro."

A teaser clip that hit the Web Tuesday offers a glimpse of the video, which was directed by fashion photographer Steven Klein.

On CNN, Gaga told Larry King the video has a "homoerotic military theme." While fans will certainly take her for that they can see for themselves that in the clip the video resembles Madonna's "Vogue," "Express Yourself" or even Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation." What do you think?

Fran Drescher's Ex-Husband is Gay

During the height of her fame on TV’s The Nanny, Fran Drescher would show up on red carpets with her oh-so-handsome husband Peter Marc Jacobson who she had been married to in 1978.

When they split up in 1999, there was no scandal. it just seemed like one of those Hollywood marriages that did not work out. But in a new interview with In Touch Weekly, Fran reveals that her ex came out as a gay man to her after their split!

Their relationship seems to have evolved into a real-life Will & Grace: “We love each other dearly,” she says. “We have even fixed each other up! I more successfully than him, by the way.”

They’re even working together on a new sitcom based on their relationship: “Peter and I feel so blessed to have met each other and to still have a caring, loving relationship. Love is what we’re all about.”

In 2008, she and Peter co-hosted a cocktail party in LA to benefit a group seeking to block California’s ban on same-sex marriage.

“Peter and I met when we were 15,” Fran tells In Touch. “We were just kids and didn’t know who we truly were. We went through a lot together.”

Guy Ritchie Targeted in House Break-In

Where's Sherlock Holmes when you really need him?

Guy Ritchie's country house was broken into Monday morning and his household staff foiled a potential raid.

Employees for the filmmaker – who directed last year's Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. – came to the rescue as they nabbed a man in Ritchie's home near Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, and turned him over to police.

A police rep said that a man has been arrested but not charged. Per police custom, the spokesman would not not name the man.

"We were called to a house following a report of a burglary," the spokesman says. "A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and was taken to Salisbury police station, where he was interviewed by detectives. He was later released on police bail pending further inquiries."

Madonna's ex-husband, 41, who was in the house at the time of the incident, did not see the man. Members of his staff confronted the intruder in another part of the house, a source tells PEOPLE.

Ritchie's children were not in the mansion at the time. His spokesman had no comment.

Madonna Celebrates Gay Malawians' Release

The pop superstar had added her voice to the furore after the incarceration of Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga and were both sentenced to 14 years behind bars for being homosexual.

She urged Malawians and her followers across the world to stand against the judge's decision by adding their names to a petition against the ruling.

After receiving the petition and meeting with United Nation ambassadors, Malawi's President Bingu wa Mutharika pardoned the pair and ordered their immediate release on Saturday.

And Madonna - who adopted two of her children, David and Mercy, from the country and is financing the construction of a girls' school in the capital - is delighted by the news.

But the singer admits she is still concerned for the pair, adding: "Though they are free from prison, sadly their safety and future in Malawi is still unknown. I hope this is just the beginning of our work together.

Charlie Sheen Will Serve Jail Time in Plea Deal

Charlie Sheen will plead guilty to a misdemeanor offense and get 30 days jail time, says a source close to the negotiations in the star's ongoing domestic violence case.

"Charlie intends to go to court on June 7 [to] plead to a misdemeanor and immediately begin serving his 30 days in jail," says the source. "With good behavior, he could end up doing 15 or so days."

While Sheen, 44, had been charged with felony menacing, misdemeanor third-degree assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief following a Christmas Day fight with his wife, Brooke Mueller, 32, in Aspen, Colo., the source adds that Sheen would not be placed on probation once he completes his jail sentence.

It's not been an easy spring for Sheen or Mueller. In February, Mueller entered rehab for substance abuse with Sheen seeking treatment a week later as a "preventative measure." The couple have been living in separate homes for more than a month while they "work on their marriage," and are currently sharing custody of their twin boys, Max and Bob.

Earlier this month, Sheen agreed to return to his CBS hit Two and a Half Men for two more years. The plea deal would allow Sheen to serve out his jail sentence with time to spare before the new season starts shooting at the beginning of August.

Lady Gaga Tests 'Borderline Positive' for Lupus

Lady Gaga's friends aren't the only ones concerned for her after she almost collapsed on stage. The singer also knows she has to be more careful and is taking added precautions, especially after a recent health scare.

"I have tested borderline positive for [lupus]," she says in an interview on Larry King Live which aired on Tuesday night.

"As of right now," she says, "I do not have it, but I have to take good care of myself."

When asked by King how she's feeling, the pop star, 24, responds with a simple, "I'm okay," before adding that lupus, which took the life of her aunt Joanne, does run in her family.

But Gaga, who has a full slate of summer concerts lined up, and who earlier revealed she was tested for the disease, wants to reassure worried fans that she hasn't shown any symptoms yet.

A Jazzy Wedding for Glee's Jane Lynch

It looks like Jane Lynch has something to be extra Gleeful about.

Although the actress hasn't made an official announcement, the Blue Heron restaurant in Sunderland, Massachusetts, reports that Lynch, 49, married psychologist Lara Embry in a small ceremony on Memorial Day.

"There were no celebrities or recognizable faces there," restaurant co-owner Deborah Snow stated. "Lara’s daughter was there, along with close, close friends of the couple. It was small, warm, intimate and very sweet. You could feel the love and friendship amongst the group."

After Monday's ceremony, in which a friend of Lynch's thanked the State of Massachusetts for being welcoming to gay and lesbian couples, the newlyweds and their 19 guests enjoyed a reception featuring a four-piece jazz combo.

Hors d’oeuvres included oysters, lobster triangles, Japanese crab salad, seared scallop with apple reduction and artichoke fritters with lemon aioli. For the main course: beet salad, striped bass with lemon buerre blanc, truffle mushroom salad, pan-seared breast of duck with duck confit, and herb salad.

The reception concluded around 10 p.m. with cheese plates and a house-made cake filled with chocolate mousse, vanilla butter cream and fresh strawberries.

Lynch and Embry have been engaged since November. Showing a soft spot not often exhibited by her character Sue Sylvester, Lynch gushed earlier this year: "It's just the greatest thrill in the world to find somebody that you want to be with every day."

Marilyn Monroe was Born 84 Years Ago Today

She is long gone but never forgotten.

Marilyn Monroe, star of such classic films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Seven Year Itch, Some Like It Hot, How to Marry a Millionaire and Bus Stop, was born born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles.

She signed her first studio contract with Twentieth Century Fox on August 26, 1946. Earned $125 a week, Norma Jeane dyed her hair blonde and changed her name to Marilyn Monroe (her grandmother’s last name).

On the early morning of August 5, 1962, 36-year-old Marilyn died in her sleep at her Brentwood, California home.

The world was stunned.

It was announced last month at the Cannes Film Festival that Naomi Watts will play Monroe in a biopic based on author Joyce Carol Oates’s controversial, fictionalized memoir, 2000’s Blonde. The movie, also called Blonde, is reportedly slated to start filming in January.

Meanwhile, Michelle Williams is in active negotiations to play Monroe in a film directed by Simon Curtis, which focuses on the late screen legend’s time spent in England while filming 1957’s The Prince and the Showgirl with Laurence Olivier.
