Ellen & Portia's Biggest Marital Problem: Half-Finished Drinks

Though Ellen DeGeneres is at a good place in her life, the TV host still dreams of greener pastures, saying in one of those humorous deadpan non-sequiturs of hers, "I like peace and I like houses."

Now, if she can just get her wife, Portia de Rossi, to clean up after her drinks.

Speaking to Ladies' Home Journal for its March issue on the day after Barack Obama was elected – and California voters put a knife into the heart of the state's same-sex marriage law – DeGeneres, 51, said that she felt her most beautiful on "the day I got married" to de Rossi in August 2008.

In fact, the recollection of that day (and the ramifications of California's Proposition 8) sent DeGeneres into tears – and running from the room.

When she returned, she said, "It's just very emotional. You find the person you love, you think you've come this far … and anyway, I never thought I'd have a wedding, and I did, and it meant more than I imagined."

Their One Big Issue

While the magazine compares the looks exchanged by de Rossi and DeGeneres as similar to those shared by Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, Michelle and Barack Obama – and notes that the two really haven't been married long enough to develop any major complaints about one another – it does get de Rossi to reveal their biggest domestic squabble.

"I do leave half-finished beverages everywhere," says the actress, 36, who is also developing a line of vegan, non-leather shoes. "I usually have three cups of tea going at once. I'm Australian. That's just what we do."

Living in America won't change that, either. Says de Rossi: "I was going to thank her in our vows, for picking up all the glasses – and say that she'd have to do that for the rest of her life. She took that on. But she's very good about it."

Apparently this responsibility has caused no schism. On display in the art studio inside the couple's house is a canvas that has been painted, and then carved, with the message from DeGeneres to de Rossi: "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU."

David Beckham Strips Down for Emporio Armani Underwear Again!

After causing a worldwide sensation with his debut set of ads for Emporio Armani’s underwear line, David Beckham is gracing us once again for the line’s spring campaign.

Wife Victoria is also starring in her own moody black-and-white ads for the Italian brand that echo David’s images.

We can’t imagine a better husband-and-wife duo to be selected for this particular modeling gig.

Is it just us or is it getting hot in here?

American Idol Watch: Hollywood Week!

Welcome to Hollywood Week at American Idol!

One-hundred and forty-seven singers made it from the national auditions to the Kodak Theatre, where they were informally enrolled in a boot camp of makeovers and coaching at the start of Tuesday’s Idol episode. The singers also got a little speech from “Copacabana” singer Barry Manilow.
Then, the singers came on and offstage like a musical roller coaster.

Some recognizably good voices got put through to the next day: Lil Rounds, 23; Anoop Desai, 21; Jasmine Murray, 16 (pictured on left); Rose Flack, 17; Jorge Nunez, 20; Jackie Tohn, 28; Jamar Rogers, 26, and his music teacher buddy Danny Gokey, 28 (pictured on right); Jeremy Michael Sarver, 27; David Osmond, 28; Adam Lambert, 26; and Emily Wynne-Hughes, 21.
Punk rocker Emily looked like she was going to be eliminated. At the last second she switched her song choice and sang it terribly, but the judges let her stay, despite their disappointment.

There were a couple surprising survivors into Wednesday’s show: Von Smith, 22, highly theatrical in a Judy Garland way; Nick Mitchell aka Norman Gentle, 27; and Katrina “Bikini Girl” Darrell, 20, who once again wowed Randy and Simon and vaguely sickened Kara and Paula was also not very impressed. Bikini Girl gave the best intro of the night, saying, “I’m the next American Idol because … I am.”

But, just because they survived the first round in Hollywood, does not mean they are safe. Tonight, Hollywood auditions continue with the group singing competitions. Let's see who makes it through this round.

On a personal note, I already have my two favorites for this year's top two competition in May. They are Danny Gokey and Jasmine Murray, which coincidentally that is why I am showcasing their pictures in this posting. Go Danny!!!

Sorry Gay Mayor Explains Fling with 18-Year-Old Beau

Sam Adams, the openly fabulous mayor of Portland, Oregon, screwed an 18-year-old intern, the improbably named Beau Breedlove, and lied about it. Why? Because he'd just broken up with his boyfriend, he told Out.

In his first interview since the scandal broke, Adams said that he won't resign, despite the ridiculous porniness of the whole scenario, which has even gotten Time's eyebrows cocked.

Handily, Oregon law gives him six months before he can be booted by a recall. And it's not clear if he even did anything wrong when he pursued the affair in 2005. Breedlove was a legislative intern, but he didn't work for Adams, then 42 and a member of the city council. Both agree Breedlove was 18 when the relationship became physical, though Breedlove recently told the Oregonian that they kissed in a bathroom when he was 17.

Pursuing a relationship across a 24-year-age gap looks bad. And lying about it, as Adams and Breedlove did in 2007 when rumors first surfaced, is the real problem.

His apology:

"I was forty-[two], however many years older than he was. And an elected official. I think the difference in age and the fact that I was an elected official made it inappropriate.... [E]lected officials are held to higher standards, and I know that. I can say, at the time, I was very flattered by the attention. I’d recently ended my 11-year relationship. I was dating again. I didn’t think it through...."

When a straight person screws up, and there have been a number of straight political figures who have, I don’t think that paints a brush on all straight politicians. I think that American’s are smart enough to know that we’re all unique. We’re all individuals.

Adams wants to make it clear: This is not about him being gay. Oh, and Out magazine wants you to know it's not about being gay, either. Here's how Out's publicity department describes the magazine: "Out is the definitive personal style guide for men, offering the latest trends and service information for a highly evolved and active consumer. Always ahead of the curve, Out sets the trends that people follow." So there you have it: Adams's problem isn't that he's gay. It's that he's highly evolved.

Kelly Clarkson is Not a Lesbian

Singer Kelly Clarkson, currently at the top of the U.S. pop charts, said on Tuesday she was not a lesbian but sometimes wished she was because "often times men are very hard for me."

Clarkson, the first and one of the most successful winners of TV talent show "American Idol", told AOL's pop culture news site, PopEater.com, that she was accustomed to being asked if she was secretly gay.

"Lesbians tell it to me all the time. I'm like, 'I'm glad it works for you and I wish I liked women like that because often times men are very hard for me, but I happen to like boys.'

"I could never be a lesbian. I would never want to date (someone like) myself, ever. I'm a crazy person. I need some kind of stable, quiet man," Clarkson, 26, said.

But the double Grammy winner, who has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide since winning "Idol" in 2002, said she had never been in love and defended herself against suggestions that this was odd.

"I recently got back from this European promo tour...and every interview kept focusing on that....I'm like 'Well, maybe ya'll just fall in love too quickly. Have you ever thought about that?' "I was like 'I don't think its very odd. I'm 26 years-old,' and I just think I'd rather have quality than quantity," Clarkson said.

Clarkson said her singing career takes priority right now over dating, adding that she wanted a boyfriend with his own life who could handle celebrity gossip and the demands of the music industry.

Clarkson, whose previous hits include "Since U Been Gone", leapt to No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the digital charts last week with her new single "My Life Would Suck Without You.". Her fourth album will be released on March 10th.

Happy Birthday to the Pin-up Poster Queen

February 2nd is the birthday of perhaps the most famous pin-up beauty. Of course we're talking about Farrah Fawcett, who turns 62 today.

Farrah Fawcett earned world recognition when she starred in ABCs 1970's TV series, Charlie's Angels, along with Jacklyn Smith & Kate Jackson. She became an instant hit and posed for the popular poster (shown on left) which was "plastered" on bedroom walls around the world.

In recent years, Fawcett has battled anal cancer and has been been on remission for almost two years.

CharlieCruiser's World wishes Farrah a Happy 62nd Birthday! Now she officially qualifies for retirement.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers: I'm Not a Romantic

He plays a royal with very sensual tastes in the Showtime hit The Tudors, but don't expect Jonathan Rhys Meyers to emulate Henry VIII's romantic prowess in real life.

I’m not a romantic guy at all,” says Rhys Meyers, 31.

But it's not all bad news for the Irish actor's female fans.

"It’s not that I don’t believe in romance,” the actor said Friday while promoting the new cologne HUGO Element at Macy's in New York City. “It’s that I don’t believe in dinner for two by the ocean, walking down the beach holding hands – that version of romance.

“I think I’m probably romantic, but I’m not outwardly romantic. I’m not a player.”

In fact, Rhys Meyers is quick to point out that the British royal wasn't much of a player either. “Well, Henry was actually quite a prude," he says, "I don’t think he’d be remembered as sexy in history."

But the series is all about "putting a modern-day take on" history, he adds.

In fact, the third season, which premieres April 15, "is better than seasons one and two put together," says Rhys Meyers. "I go through three wives this season!”

Star Sighting: Madonna & Child Shopping!

Madonna keeps a good grip on her bundled 3-year-old son David Banda during a shopping trip in New York's SoHo neighborhood on Sunday.

Lourdes (not pictured), Madonna's daughter, also joined the pair. No news on Rocco's whereabout.

Kristen Johnston: The Scoop on Her 'Absolutely Fabulous' Return to TV

As was reported earlier this week by the Hollywood trades, 3rd Rock From the Sun alum Kristen Johnson is, as she told Entertainment Weekly recently, "99.9 percent" locked for the pilot of Fox's remake of the British cult hit Absolutely Fabulous.

Kristen said: "The funniest thing is, EW is how I found out about Absolutely Fabulous." Supposedly, Johnston read about the plans for the remake in the pages of Entertainment Weekly.

Kristen dished about why she's getting back into regular TV (provided Fox picks up the pilot, once it's made) and her role as Patsy.

Originally, there was a report that she would be playing the role of boozy fashion publicist Edina, but Revolutionary Road's Kathryn Hahn will actually fill that spot, while Johnston will play best friend Patsy.

About the casting mix-up, she says, "Have they seen me?" Exactly. She's no Eddie, but definitely a Patsy.

Besides a few stints on shows like ER and Sex and the City, Johnston hasn't really done much TV since her long-running stint as the alien Sally on 3rd Rock From the Sun ended in 2001. But after shooting a guest spot as a neurotic friend to Julia Louis-Dreyfus on CBS's The New Adventures of Old Christine (which airs February 18th), Johnston realized it was time for her return to the small screen.

"I hadn’t been on a sitcom set since 3rd Rock, so cable leads and network run-throughs, it was like, what?" she says, referring to shooting Old Christine. "It was the funnest. I thought, “Oh f---, this is where I need to be.” But is she ready for the grind that comes with a weekly series? "Oh yeah, I’m ready," she adds. "You know what I’m ready for? The money." Totally blunt and real! That's the Johnston we all know and love.

Johnston also revealed more about her character and the script, which has been modified quite a lot (with the help of exec producer and star-of-the-original Jennifer Saunders) for American audiences. "I think they captured the exact amount of sweetie-darling," she says. "I mean, it’s a totally different element, it’s a totally different show. We don’t smoke, we are hungover all the time, we chew Nicorette, we’re trying to be more PC, but I think it really works. It’s one of those scripts that’s like my favorite kind because on paper you’re like, Oh, this is funny, but when you read it out loud with two actresses, it’s, like, the funniest s--- ever."

If picked up by the network, we may be seeing a whole lot of Kristen as Patsy on FOX later this year.

Hudson Rocks while Springsteen Botoxed!

My most memorable moment about Super Bowl XLIII has to be when the incredibly talented, Academy Award winner, Jennifer Hudson sang the Star Spangled Banner.

Jennifer's rendition of the national anthem outshined my previous favorite, performed by Whitney Houston in 1991.

Here is Jennifer's performance.

Jennifer's performance even outshined the half-time show performance by Bruce Springsteen, who looked like he has been under the knife (or botoxing) way too much on his face.

Here is his performance:

Super Bowl, Super Commercials

This Super Bowl will go down in history due to Pittsburgh Steeler's Santonio Holme's catch at the end zone with only 37 seconds left in the game. The Steelers ended winning Super Bowl XLIII with a close score of 27 - 23 versus the Arizona Cardinals.

Now, my favorite part of this historic event were the incredible commercials from Bridgestone Tires, Budweiser, Pepsi, Acura, and GoDaddy.com to name of few, but my favorite was from Frito Lay's Doritos. Their "Bus" commercial was funny and very entertaining. My friends and I could not stop laughing after we saw this commercial.

Here is the Dorito's bus commercial for you to enjoy.

The Pittsburgh Steelers won their record sixth Super Bowl championship in a 27-23 triumph over the underdog Arizona Cardinals, and they won it by this much: Santonio Holmes' two big toes.

Michael Phelps Admits to Smoking Weed

On Saturday, a report from "News of the World" (a UK tabloid) published an alleged picture of Michael Phelps holding a bong and smoking weed, which immediately made waves across the internet. Admittedly, the picture wasn't perfect and there was no guarantee that it was Phelps in the photo, until Phelps admitted yesterday that it was him holding the bong.

In a statement released to The Associated Press, the swimmer who won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Games conceded the authenticity of the exclusive picture published Sunday by the tabloid News of the World.

Phelps said: "I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again."

The nice thing is that -- unlike many steroid abusers -- Phelps has simply admitted that he got caught. That, in my mind, goes a fairly long way towards helping Phelps rehab a clearly damaged image.

Some folks have stated that the media's making too big a deal out of this; yet I don't think it can be overstated just how much Phelps might have cost himself in terms of endorsement money over the past few months.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Groundhog Day is the annual holiday celebrated on February 2nd in the United States and Canada on which if a groundhog emerges from its burrow and fails to see its shadow because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end.

If on the other hand, it is sunny and the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.

Happy Groundhog Day to all. My personal choice...let him see his shadow!

Have a Super Sunday!

Tonight millions of viewers from around the world will be "glued" to their TVs watching the Pittsburgh Steelers vs the Arizona Cardinals compete for the convented prize of winning Super Bowl XLIII, live from Tampa Bay.

I for one will be hosting my first "Super Bowl" party at home and will be cheering for either team to win ('cause I could care less of who wins...since it's not the Miami Dolphins playing).

But my main reason for watching this year's Super Bowl will be to hear Jennifer Hudson sing the National Anthem, followed by watching the incredible commercials, and of course, enjoying the half-time show with the great, Bruce Springsteen. How I wish we would also be enjoying a "Bud Bowl".

So to all the football fans...enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday!

Ricky Martin & Sons at Central Park

Ricky Martin took his twin boys Valentino and Matteo for stroll in Central Park recently.

It is the twins' first public appearance since he showed them off in People Magazine, where he stated the following:

"I don't have a nanny. I'm doing this on my own because I don't want to miss a moment. I have a personal assistant who helps me, someone who takes care of me while I'm taking care of them, but I'm the one who changes the diapers, the one that feeds them, the one that bathes them, the one that puts them to sleep. For any parent, the first couple of months tend to get a little bit intense...Adoption was one option, but it's complicated and can take a long time. Surrogacy was an intriguing and faster option. I thought, 'I'm going to jump into this with no fear.'...I love to read books to my sons and tell them stories. I play music for them so they develop their own personalities. I want to give them information and raise them with honesty and love, and give them self-esteem and a lot of acceptance."
