Tom Cruise to Play 'Rock n' Roll God' in New Movie

Tom Cruise has signed up to play aging musician Stacee Jaxx in the big screen adaption of the hit musical Rock of Ages, and director Adam Shankman is sure his performance is going to impress everyone.

The actor has been taking voice lessons for his role and has been studying the '80s rock songs in the musical to make sure he gets everything right.

Adam told Access Hollywood: “I think we’re going to see him every drop the rock ‘n’ roll god! I’m very excited. He’s so committed to doing it. He’s pouring himself in this part in a way I’ve never had an actor do … it’s pretty intense.”

Tom will have to perform several songs in the film, including Styx’s "Renegade," Bon Jovi’s "Wanted Dead or Alive" and a duet of Foreigner’s "I Want To Know What Love Is," possibly with Anne Hathaway, who is set to play the character Sherrie.

Shankman also confirmed rumors Russell Brand is in talks to join the cast as Lonny, the manager of The Bourbon rock club, while Alec Baldwin is set to play Lonny’s boss Dennis.

He added: “We are talking to Alec Baldwin and there may be some Russell Brand. I can only say at this point that there may be, because the deals aren’t closed."

Tom Cruise Swoops in for Top Gun Sequel

Tom Cruise is reportedly flying back to the big screen in a sequel to 1986 classic Top Gun.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer hinted last year that he was working on a follow-up to a hugely popular "aviation" movie, sparking rumors the hit film would be revived for a new generation of cinema-goers.

Bosses at Paramount Pictures have now kick-started work on the sequel, by hiring original director Tony Scott and the film's star Cruise, according to NYmag.com's Vulture blog.

The website reports the Hollywood actor will reprise his role as pilot Maverick but will play a smaller part in the follow-up, which will be penned by Oscar-winning The Usual Suspects screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie.

The news comes just weeks after Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the sequel to the hit 1987 movie, hit cinemas and topped the box office.

J. Lo Exclusive: 'Working with Tom was Amazing!'

Extra recently had an exclusive chat with Jennifer Lopez, and she talked about her MTV Movie Awards experience, dancing with Tom Cruise, for the first time.

Working with Tom was amazing!" Lopez gushed to Extra, while attending the Boys and Girls Clubs of America event in New York on Thursday. "I'm such a hard worker, and I'm kind of intense about my job. It's great to work with someone who is just as intense and passionate and crazy about getting everything right."

The two started rehearsing for the musical number a month in advance. "[Tom] called me a month before and said, 'I have this idea. I'm doing this thing for the MTV Movie Awards, and I want it to be a surprise.'" She continued, "I said OK, we'd do a little mash-up of [Ludacris' 'Get Back' and a Lopez's song 'Get Right']. I come out and sing a little and then we dance together. But [I told him] you have to learn this cane dance that I do in the video."

Lopez was thoroughly impressed with Cruise's moves. "The thing with that routine is that it is one of the hardest routines. But he did it. He really, really did it. And he did a great job. I was really proud of him." The actress/singer also wants to clear the air about the recent rumor that she and her husband, Marc Anthony, renewed their wedding vows. "We didn't. This is an absolute lie," Lopez said. "We just had our anniversary and had some people over to the house." She did add, "Maybe we will one day..."

Jake Pavelka Strips Down to His Tighty Whiteys on Dancing With The Stars

Reigning Bachelor Jake Pavelka channeled Tom Cruise in Risky Business on Monday night’s Dancing With the Stars by stripping down to his skivvies. And whaddaya know? He and partner Chelsie Hightower ended up in the top 3 for the first time!

“You leave it all on the dance floor, and there’s some skin out there, I think,” Jake said afterward. “Once in a lifetime opportunity! And my knees will heal.”

Maksim Chmerkovskiy stated to E!: “He’s desperate…with his pants off. I don’t blame him. You’re in the bottom two, you wanted the numbers, there’s nothing to lose, so he just took his pants off.”

To recreat Tom Cruise’s iconic underwear scene from Risky Business was, well, risky for Jake Pavelka.

He’s jumped into hot tubs on The Bachelor, but dancing the cha cha in undies required baby steps.

“I rehearsed for the first time in underwear and there was about five people,” Pavelka told People Magazine. “Then about 20 people, and then for dress rehearsal about 40 people. And then we did it tonight for about 25 million people.”

Pavelka’s partner, Chelsie Hightower, “was loving every minute of it,” she says. “I was laughing my head off.”
Meanwhile, Derek Hough was impressed: “I love how he just comes out and doesn’t hold back. He just goes for it,” he says. “There’s no way my chicken legs are ever making an appearance on this show!”

Dancing in his tighty whiteys paid off as he survived elimination this week.

Tom Cruise Sued by Alleged Gay Lover

Hollywood film star Tom Cruise is being sued over allegations of wiretapping. Magazine editor, Michael Davis Sapir, claims that the actor hired private detective, Anthony Pellicano, to wiretap his phone.

In 2001 Sapir claimed to have a video in his possession that proved he was having a "homosexual relationship" with the star.

According to documents filed at Los Angeles' County Superior Court, Sapir claims that Cruise hired Anthony Pellicano to spy on Sapir during the court case.

Eventually both parties acknowledged that the video did not exist and the $100m (£62m) case was settled out of court.

The actor, best known for roles in the Mission Impossible films and Top Gun, has been a controversial figure over recent years.

In addition to promoting various programs that introduce people to Scientology, Cruise has campaigned for Scientology to be fully recognized as a religion in Europe. He has lobbied politicians in France and Germany, where the legal systems regard Scientology as a cult.

In 2006 Paramount Pictures announced it was ending its 14-year relationship with Cruise.

In the Wall Street Journal, chairman of Viacom (Paramount's parent company) Sumner Redstone cited the economic damage to Cruise's value as an actor and producer from his controversial public behaviour and views.

During his marriage to actress Nicole Kidman, the couple endured public speculation about their sex life and rumors that Cruise was gay.

In 1998, he sued The Daily Express after they alledged that the marriage was a sham designed to cover up his homosexuality.

According to documents obtained by entertainment site Tmz.com, Sapir is asking for $5 million.

David Beckham Has a Man Crush on Tom Cruise?

Well, they really are awfully cute together aren’t they?

But we all know that soccer icon David Beckham is happily married to Victoria Beckham formerly of The Spice Girls and that Tom Cruise is so smitten with current wife Katie Holmes that he jumped on Oprah’s couch declaring his love.

That doesn’t mean that Beckham doesn’t appreciate how damned good looking his movie star pal is. He said on George Lopez’s late-night show this week: “You say there’s good looking people, and you look at Tom, and he’s one of the most handsome men I’ve ever met.”

New Book Explores David Beckham-Tom Cruise Bromance

Ever since David Beckham befriended Tom Cruise in 2003, the actor has influenced every single life decision Becks has made.

That's the moral of the story exposed in The Beckham Experiment, a new book by Sports Illustrated writer Grant Wahl, who spends a whole chapter of his saga describing the soccer star's relationship with Cruise.

And it goes something like this: David and wife Victoria hired both Cruise's rep and his PR firm to speak for them (begging the question: Is Tom's current PR all that valued given his declining popularity of late?) In addition, Posh and Becks moved just five minutes away from TomKat when they made the jump to LA. Cruise even left Germany, where he was filming Valkyrie, to throw them a housewarming fĂȘte. David also adopted his physical therapist and fellow bromantic, Will Smith.

According to the New York Daily News, David and Tom talk on the phone most days, and Beckham takes Cruise's advice on "nearly everything," even influencing the footballer's decision to play for LA Galaxy. And the Beckhams' son, Cruz? Yep, also a shout-out to Tom.

It sounds like the only thing the two don't share is a love of Xenu. Beckham has said:

It's something I respect, because Tom's explained to me and Victoria what it's all about. But he's never turned around and said, 'That is what you should be doing,' because he would never do that. He and Katie have their beliefs ... but me and Victoria have also got our own.
