Newly crowned American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez won't be the next Simon Cowell, but she will be honest!" Extra's AJ Calloway caught up with Lopez right after the announcement that she, along with Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson, would be judging the show's 10th season, and asked her about how she'll handle her duties.
"I'm not one to stand down when I have strong beliefs about something," said the superstar singer. Lopez is excited that this season will really concentrate on the music. "Randy, myself, Steven... we take music seriously. It's our life." See photos of Jennifer Lopez through the years!
J.Lo talked about Interscope Records exec Jimmy Iovine being one of this season's mentors. His label has been home to the Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige and Lady Gaga.
Lopez said of this season's contestants, "They're going to get to work with the people who work with artists all the time and who expect a certain level."
The other bonus of doing Idol for the singer/actress is being able to stay in one place for awhile. "It's a lot on the family, the babies, packing up and bringing them everywhere, making sure we're all together. You know how much we travel," laughing, "AJ travels with us sometimes. He's like our third triplet!"
The new American Idol season premieres January 2011 on FOX.
Breakout stars don't come more "breakout" than True Blood's Joe Manganiello.
Manganiello told Extra's Lauren Sanchez that before becoming sexy werewolf Alcide, his life was far from glitz and glamour.
"I was shoveling sand and gravel off the back of a truck trying to make ends meet for a little while in there," he said of his pre-stardom days. "Hauling cement bags and jackhammers... it got rough."
Now the actor can been seen nearly nude, battling baddies on True Blood.
"We all have to appear naked on the show," said Manganiello. "You get three choices [on how to cover up], one's a sock, a thong with a plastic back -- and I was warned that when you run really fast the plastic will snap... The third [choice] is the man panty or the manty -- which is so tight and constricting." Joe told Lauren he decided to go with the sock.
What does his girlfriend think about all his racy scenes? "There's a lot of understanding that she gives to me," he said. "But she's been great about it all."
Extra recently had an exclusive chat with Jennifer Lopez, and she talked about her MTV Movie Awards experience, dancing with Tom Cruise, for the first time.
Working with Tom was amazing!" Lopez gushed to Extra, while attending the Boys and Girls Clubs of America event in New York on Thursday. "I'm such a hard worker, and I'm kind of intense about my job. It's great to work with someone who is just as intense and passionate and crazy about getting everything right."
The two started rehearsing for the musical number a month in advance. "[Tom] called me a month before and said, 'I have this idea. I'm doing this thing for the MTV Movie Awards, and I want it to be a surprise.'" She continued, "I said OK, we'd do a little mash-up of [Ludacris' 'Get Back' and a Lopez's song 'Get Right']. I come out and sing a little and then we dance together. But [I told him] you have to learn this cane dance that I do in the video."
Lopez was thoroughly impressed with Cruise's moves. "The thing with that routine is that it is one of the hardest routines. But he did it. He really, really did it. And he did a great job. I was really proud of him." The actress/singer also wants to clear the air about the recent rumor that she and her husband, Marc Anthony, renewed their wedding vows. "We didn't. This is an absolute lie," Lopez said. "We just had our anniversary and had some people over to the house." She did add, "Maybe we will one day..."
