Kelly Osbourne’s New Material Girl Ads

In her ads as the new face of Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon’s clothing line, Material Girl, Kelly Osbourne is showing off her colorful side — and both Kelly and Lourdes are talking to People magazine about their fashion favorites for the upcoming spring season.

“The military jacket. I love that and I put it with a bunch of badges on it to make it my own, too,” Leon said recently, whereas Osbourne points to the accessories. “The shoes–there’s a pair of nude heels that I’m really obsessed with,” Osbourne gushed. “There’s so much stuff in it that’s so me and what I wear. There’s a leopard dress that I get to wear next that I’m excited about. I love prints,” she said.

When it comes to clothes for warmer weather, it’s shorts for spring that are all the rage for the girls. “I’m like obsessed with them,” said Lourdes. But one of the greatest things about the line, Osbourne observes, is that it’s accessible to everyone. “There’s not many other companies besides Material Girl that do clothes at an affordable price that are high fashion and [are] what people see in the magazines and can emulate themselves without having to go and spend $1000 on a dress,” she said.

And one of the most important aspects of the line for 14 year old Lourdes was making sure that other girls her age could buy great clothes without breaking the bank. “I don’t go out and buy all of these expensive [clothes]…so it’s good for my friends. It’s good for everybody and it’s good clothing, too.”

Carlos Leon: I'm a Lenient Father to Lourdes

Their own relationship didn't last, but Carlos Leon found the love of his life thanks to Madonna – their daughter Lourdes.

"I'm forever grateful to [Madonna]," Leon told People magazine. "I have no regrets. I wouldn't change anything. I got the best thing out of that relationship, and that's my daughter. My daughter is everything to me."

Like many smitten fathers, Leon, 44, admits he has a tough time being strict with Lourdes, now 14.

"I'm a lenient dad," says the personal trainer and actor, whose new film Immigration Tango came out Friday. "I'm very empathetic, and I'm good at listening to my daughter … I'm probably a bad dad when it comes to disciplining her."

One area where he tends to be overly compromising? Her curfew. "I try to work with her on it," he says. "We settle on a time, say around 10 p.m., and she's like, 'How about 10:30?' And it eventually becomes 10:15."

Leon says Lourdes isn't dating yet, but knows it's coming. "I'm dreading it so much, because she's my little girl. I want her to stay young forever," he says. "I'm already overprotective, so when the time comes, I will be ready to have a talk with the guy she brings through the door. He better be ready, because I'll give him the rundown!"

For now, he and his daughter bond by going on bike rides in New York City and hanging out at home, watching movies like Harry Potter and Twilight.

"She loves to watch Harry Potter. It's a favorite of hers. We can watch that 100 times – well, she can," Leon says. "Twilight is also pretty big at our house. She likes Robert Pattinson. She's Team Edward all the way."

Besides wizards and vampires, Lourdes loves fashion and is a budding fashionista. She even gives Dad a few pointers.

"Sometimes she will give me a hard time about my clothes," Leon says. "I wore a pair of jeans once, and they weren't as skinny as I usually wear them, and she was like, 'Oh my God, Dad, those pants are ugly. Please change your pants.' "

He adds with a laugh: "They were too bootcut, so I changed."

Kelly Osbourne is the New Face of Madonna's Material Girl Fashion Line

Kelly Osbourne's has been named the new face of Madonna's Material Girl fashion line.

Osbourne, who once called herself an "ugly duckling," replaces 'Gossip Girl' star Taylor Momsen, according to a tweet from the company.

Material Girl is a year-old juniors design collaboration between the iconic music superstar and 14-year-old daughter Lourdes. It's sold exclusively at Macy's.

"Material Girl is thrilled to confirm that Kelly Osbourne is the new face for 2011. We will be sharing all the details on this exciting new campaign in the coming weeks," her rep confirmed in a statement.

Material Girl launched in 2010 with rebellious Momsen as its face. Late last year though, Lourdes blogged that the label was "desperately seeking" a new face.

Osbourne, who slimmed down considerably after an image-altering turn on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," has updated her look from goth to glam.

"I've spent the last few years trying to figure out who Kelly Osbourne is, from addiction to awards and fashion faux pas," she writes on her official blog.

Things seem to be looking up for Osbourne, who earlier this month was seen with British musician Rob Damiani, after a long funk from breaking up with Luke Worrall last summer.

Taylor Momsen May Be a Material Girl No More

Despite landing campaigns for Madonna's juniors line Material Girl and John Galliano's most recent fragrance, Parlez-Moi d'Amour, Taylor Momsen is currently without a modeling agency, having been dropped by IMG.

Now it appears that Momsen is no longer affiliated with Material Girl—or won't be for long, anyway. According to Material World, the Material Girl fashion blog, the search is on for the next spokesmodel.

Fans of the Macy's line are invited to suggest the next Material Girl by write-in vote on the brand's website. Who do you think should be brand ambassador? Our money's on Madonna's daughter Lola...she's already writing the best Material World blog posts, anyway.

Madonna’s Daughter Lourdes Contemplates Blue Hair — and Mom’s Disapproval!

It might be hard to believe, but Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes (a.k.a. Lola) Leon, is actually just like any other teenage girl — hello, Harry Potter and Katy Perry.

Of course, not every teen already has co-created a junior’s collection for Macy’s this fall, but even she isn’t immune to the style dilemmas of adolescence!

“I don’t know if any of you saw my hair yet but its mad dark right at the moment. I’m almost sick of it and now I want royal blue hair but not a streak, like my entire head,” she muses. “I’m sure if I get that hair color I’ll be sick of it after about two weeks.”

And how does mom Madonna feel about her Lola opening up for all the internet to see?

“I read this blog aloud to my mother and she is sitting here staring at me with no expression on her face, as if she doesn’t approve of it!” she writes. “So now you all know what I have had to put up with for the past 14 years of my life :D”

Madonna Happy to Let Daughter Lourdes Take the Lead in Material Girl Line

It was a night of lace tights, skirts, and mother-daughter bonding for Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon, 13, as they celebrated the launch of their Material Girl clothing line Wednesday night at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City.

Despite being a fashion icon, Madonna was content to take a backseat when it came to choosing the items for the Material Girl girl.

“Lola did most of the work. I just kind of hung out in the background and went, ‘That’s nice,’ but she pretty much did all of the work. I was just overseeing it,” she said.

But when your mom is Madonna and you’re creating a fashion line for teenage girls, it isn’t always that simple. “There are some definite pieces [inspired by my mom]. The tulle skirt because that’s like her thing—she made that. The necklaces, the gloves, the lace tights, the combat boots…that tough girly thing,” Lourdes told People Magazine.

As for the items in Mom’s closet that she covets most? “All of her shoes are ridiculous! I love to try on her [Christian] Louboutins,” she said.

Also on hand for the celebration was Material Girl face Taylor Momsen. “It was such an honor to be chosen by Madonna and Lola. They’re such talented people and I’m just ecstatic,” gushed the Gossip Girl star.

The night concluded with the three ladies gathering on the fourth floor of Macy’s, as dancers performed and a DJ spun many of Madonna’s songs.

“Lola has been so inspiring and it’s been so great to watch her focus, her determination.” Madonna said. “I’ve achieved many things in my life, but I have to say watching my daughter make her dreams come true and achieve her goals is more exciting than anything I’ve ever done

Madonna Just a Typical Mother and Cockroach

What do you think of Madonna when it comes to parenting? Do you see her as a typical mother with four children? Well the 51-year-old “Material Girl” says she is exactly that.

When it comes to her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes Ciccone Leon, Madonna says she is all about keeping her covered up. “I usually tell her to take off her 3-inch or 6-inch platforms and pull her skirt down just a little bit and take off some of the black eye make-up around her eyes. She does have amazing style, but I am a typical mother when I say, ‘Oh my God, you can’t go to school dressed like that.’”

Madonna doesn’t plan to slow down any time soon. She offered up: “My biggest asset as a human being I would say is my resilience and my survival skills. I’m like a cockroach. You can’t get rid of me.”

Madonna Dishes on Blogger Daughter Lourdes’ Material Girl Style

Ask Madonna for fashion advice, and she just might refer you to her 13-year-old, Lourdes Leon (aka “Lola”), who, according to her mother, is “much more fashion-forward and savvy than I am at this point.”

Now the teenager and fashion-lover is sharing her natural style acumen as a blogger, posting her first musings recently on http://www.materialgirlcollection.com/, the site for the juniors clothing line that the mother-daughter duo are designing together.

”I am totally obsessivo about 80′s shorts,” writes Lola. “You know the kind that makes your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in.”

And the tweenager has certainly put her stamp on Material Girl’s debut collection, which includes ’80s-inspired pieces like a sleeveless biker vest, plaid shirts, floral miniskirts, and high-waist shorts–all meant to be layered and mixed together.

To read Lola’s blog and for more on the Material Girl Collection, which launches August 3rd exclusively at Macy’s, visit http://www.materialgirlcollection.com/.

Madonna Dishes On Designing With Daughter Lourdes

So what was it like for Madonna to work together with her daughter Lourdes Leon (a.k.a. Lola) on Material Girl, their upcoming juniors’ clothing collection? Surprisingly collaborative.

“As we are working, I see her more as a creative person, as an artist,” the proud mom told the Associated Press. “Then every once in a while, I remembered that she is my daughter.”

The pop icon also revealed that the collection–which is debuting exclusively at Macy’s in August, just in time for back-to-school wardrobes–was actually the 13-year-old’s idea.

“Lola has been bothering me for ages about designing clothes,” explained the original Material Girl. And Lourdes already has good taste, as Madonna laments, “My Christian Dior shoes will go missing, and then some fabulous bag or my skinny jeans–the only pair that fit me–are gone.”

But having grown-up around fashion’s brightest stars, including Madonna pals Stella McCartney and Dolce and Gabbana, Lourdes has shown an ever-growing interest in fashion design, working in the wardrobe department on Madonna’s last two tours.

All the teenager’s aesthetic training has led to the line’s eclectic mix of patterns (cabbage roses, black and white stripes) and layerable “hard and soft elements,” like a tutu dress meant to be styled with studded combat boots or a slouchy cropped sweatshirt paired with a floral mini. And don’t forget the accessories — shoes, necklaces, and, naturally, fingerless gloves–all inspired by their mutual love of dance and music.

Happily, though, these pieces will be attainable on a teenager’s allowance, with prices ranging from $12 to $40.

As Madonna points out, “When I was 13-years-old, I couldn’t afford expensive clothing.”

Madonna Sets Up Film Role for Daughter, Lourdes

Madonna is helping her daughter Lourdes make it in the movies - the Queen of Pop has reportedly offered the wannabe actress a small role in her upcoming film about late British royal King Edward VIII.

The Material Girl is stepping behind the camera to direct a historical drama based on the former king, who abdicated in 1936 so he could marry twice-divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson - a move that rocked the British monarchy.

And it seems the singer wants to make her second directorial venture a family affair - she has arranged for her 13-year-old offspring to make a cameo appearance in the period drama.

A source tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "She's arranged for a small role for Lourdes. It's not a significant part but it will give her a good taste of life in the movie business. Lourdes has made it clear she wants some kind of career in the entertainment industry and her mum is more than happy to help.

"She's already an incredible dancer thanks to years of classes and she's also been having singing training."

Madonna has previously refused to allow her daughter to step into the limelight - she banned the teen from appearing in a Harry Potter movie after she was offered a role as a Hogwarts student by movie bosses.

Madonna & Lourdes Premiere ‘Nine’ in NYC

Madonna and her hip daughter Lourdes Leon don Dolce&Gabbana ensembles at the premiere of Nine at New York City’s Ziegfeld Theatre on Tuesday, December 15th.

Madonna recently shared how fortunate her four kids are. Here's what she said: “They get great bonuses and perks out of being my children and they know it, and they’re very grateful and appreciative for it,” the 51-year-old mom told British morning show GMTV. “I think they are pretty balanced in terms of how they view fame or celebrity or things like that. I think it took them a while to adjust, but I think they’re okay about it."

Madonna's Kids Getting into Her Act

It looks like that it won't just be Madonna's daughter Lourdes featuring in her work – 4-year-old son David has revealed a love of the superstar's work.

"He knows every song, every word, every step, and he wants to wear all the costumes," Madonna, 51, told the British morning show GMTV. "He likes my dress that I wear in ‘La Isla [Bonita].

Coming after stage-ready Lourdes, 13, joined her mom in the video for Celebration, performing clearly runs in the family. During her recent Sticky & Sweet world tour, Madonna's 9-year-old son with director Guy Ritchie, Rocco joined her on stage.

"When he jumped on stage to dance in my last show, I was shocked actually," she said. "And secretly, unbeknownst to me, they're all studying privately with my dancers. And Rocco comes out and busts out like a moonwalk or you know, some kind of break-dancing move."

Even Rocco!

She also revealed to GMTV that Rocco was the last person she expected onstage. "He's always been quite shy so I was shocked when he wanted to be in the show."

Despite their dabbling in showbiz, Madonna said, her children have a healthy view of their charmed life.

"They get great bonuses and perks out of being my children and they know it, and they're very grateful and appreciative for it," she said. "I think they are pretty balanced in terms of how they view fame or celebrity or things like that. I think it took them a while to adjust, but I think they're okay about it."

Madonna Breaks Ground in Malawi

Madonna plants a Moringa tree at the site of her future academy for girls in a village north of Lilongwe, Malawi on Monday, October 26th.

The 51-year-old entertainer was joined by daughter Lourdes, 13, at the ground breaking ceremony and planting of the “miracle tree.”

“Growing up in a privileged life, I took education for granted…but coming to Malawi has taught me a lot of things and (I have) learned to appreciate what life gives,” Madonna said.

“I realized how much they deserve to be educated and so for me the best thing I could do was to build a school, a unique school that will create future female leaders, scientists, lawyers, doctors and if this school is successful it will be used as a model to replicate it in other countries.”

The school will admit 500 girls, ABC News reports, and construction will cost about $15 million.
