The line, Nycked (pronounced nicked), is inspired by Lorenzo's home country of Brazil. In Brazil, Lorenzo explains, swimsuits are considered real fashion. The line is a collaboration between Lorenzo and jewelry designer Jules Kim.
Marc Jacobs' influence is notably absent, Lorenzo says: "Relationships are hard enough without mixing business into them. I don’t advise mixing the personal and professional."
Lorenzo and Jules aimed to create swimwear with an urban, downtown aesthetic—giving it more of a New York feel than Los Angeles. The 20-piece debut collection includes details such as oversized bows, corseting, heat-bonded foil sequins and lace. The primary colors used are black, white and red, with occasional use of nude mesh overlays. Unlike much stylish "swimwear," all pieces of this collection can be worn in the water. Much thought was paid to the functional aspects of the swimsuits, ensuring that wearers will be stylish and comfortable at the same time.
Nycked will range in price from $120 to $210 and will be available in stores in November. We're sure that given Marc's celeb connections, you will be seeing these swimsuits on celebs everywhere.
