Michael Douglas has revealed that Viagra is the secret to keeping up with his much-younger wife Catherine Zeta Jones.
The 65-year-old actor confessed in an interview with AARP magazine that modern medicine is one of the reasons for his successful marriage to 40-year old Zeta Jones.
“At least in your head, your fire burns as brightly. Let’s not kid ourselves. God bless her that she likes older guys,” he said when asked about their love life.
“And some wonderful enhancements have happened in the last few years – Viagra, Cialis – that can make us all feel younger.”
Douglas, who has two children by the actress – Dylan, 9, and Carys, 6 − says his marriage and family have shifted his priorities.
“My career was the most important thing in my life, followed by marriage and children. And it’s completely reversed now. I never anticipated starting a family and the joy of raising kids at my age,” he said. “I think it’s easier for me to be a good father.”
Douglas acknowledges that he could have been a better father to his 31-year-old son Cameron, who is currently in jail on drug charges.
“I’ll assume whatever responsibilities I have to,” he said. “Would it have been better to have been around more? Absolutely. There were absences, and I was no angel.”
