Kelsey Grammer is swapping TV for the Broadway stage after signing on to star in a new production of La Cage Aux Folles.
The former Frasier star suffered a career setback in early November when his latest TV series, Hank, was axed after just five episodes due to poor ratings.
Its cancellation followed Grammer's previous small screen project Back To You, which was similarly scrapped in 2008, 17 shows in.
But Grammer is now focusing his attention on a revival of the 1983 musical comedy, in which he will play Georges, the owner of a nightclub.
La Cage Aux Folles will open at the Longacre Theatre on April 18th.
The actor last appeared on stage in Shakespeare classic Macbeth in 2000.
