Christina Aguilera Speaks Out Against Proposition 8

It's great to see how the entertainment community has gone out and shared with the world their opposing view of California's "Proposition 8" results.

Here's a YouTube video of Christina Aguilera sharing her opinion.

Beyonce wants to lasso the role of Wonder Woman

Beyoncé is ready for an Amazon-sized challenge -- the pop superstar wants to be the first actress to wear Wonder Woman's famed red, white and blue bathing suit on the silver screen.

"I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It's time for that, right?"

Beyoncé says that she has met with representatives of DC Comics and Warner Bros. to express her interest in a major role in one of the many comic-book adaptations now in the pipeline following the massive success of "The Dark Knight," "Iron Man" and the "Spider-Man" and "X-Men" franchises. Beyoncé's acting to career to date has included a comedic role in "Austin Powers in Goldmember" and two notable music world roles, the first as a quasi-Diana Ross character in "Dreamgirls" and as the defiant and heroin-addicted Etta James in the upcoming "Cadillac Records."

"After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, 'OK, I need to be a superhero,'" Beyoncé told me this week when I met her for an interview in a suite atop the Rivington Hotel in New York. "Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there's also an action element that I would enjoy."

The recent success of sophisticated comic-book adaptations is the main reason for Beyoncé's interest, she said, but her focus on Wonder Woman was intensified earlier this year when she saw Lynda Carter's costume from the 1970s television show on display at the Costume Institute’s “Superhero” show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Beyoncé is in amazing shape right now (she had gained more than 20 pounds for the James role and came back from that leaner than before), but she said the Wonder Woman costume is an unforgiving one.

"I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it'd be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy."

It's not clear if anyone will be able to deliver a Wonder Woman project anytime soon, however. The heroine, who debuted in 1941, is by far the most iconic superhero who has yet to reach theaters. Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Hulk and the Fantastic Four have all had multiple bites at the Hollywood apple and Captain America and Captain Marvel, both of whom were featured in 1940s serials, have adaptations now in the pipeline, as do Thor, Flash and Green Lantern.

David Beckham: My Underwear Pictures Were Not Retouched!

David Beckham has responded to Gordon Ramsay's claims that he needed extra padding for his saucy underwear snaps.
Becks has a lucrative deal with Emporio Armani to model its men's underwear range. But pal Gordon, 41, jokes that David, 33, isn't all he seems to be in the shots.‘Did you put satsumas down your pants for the Armani adverts?’ he asks in a joint interview for GQ. But David insists he didn’t need any help in the Goldenballs department.

‘Gordon should know,’ he tells GQ. ‘He’s one of my best friends, so he should know the truth. He knows it wasn’t retouched.

'I would never ask them to change anything. It was a question of trying to find a good position that wasn’t too much. ‘There’s a big billboard of it on Sunset Strip [in Los Angeles] and a couple of players from [LA Galaxy] have mentioned they’ve nearly crashed going past it!’

"Milk" Receives Rave Reviews

Milk tells the story of slain gay rights icon Harvey Milk from Academy Award-nominated director Gus Van Sant. Early reviews for the film and especially Sean Penn's portrayal of Milk are very strong.

Here is what the entertainment venues are saying:

The Hollywood Reporter:
“Yes, it’s a biopic, a love story, a civil rights movie and sharp political and social commentary. But it transcends any single genre as a very human document that touches first and foremost on the need to give people hope.”

Variety:
“The quality of the writing, acting and directing generally invests them with the feel of real life and credible personal interchange, rather than of scripted stops along the way from aspiration to triumph to tragedy. And on a project whose greatest danger lay in its potential to come across as agenda-driven agitprop, the filmmakers have crucially infused the story with qualities in very short supply today — gentleness and a humane embrace of all its characters, even of the entirely vilifiable gunman, Dan White.”

Milk opens on November 26 in limited release and December 5 wide.

Guy's Knife Terror from Crazed Madonna Fan

A crazed Madonna fan stormed on to the set of Guy Ritchie’s new movie and threatened to kill him.

The film director, who is in the process of divorcing the singer, was just yards away when the teenager burst on to the set waving a 12-inch knife and yelling: “Where’s Guy? I’m going to kill him!”

And as security guards wrestled him to the ground, he screamed: “I’m Madonna’s biggest fan! I’m gonna kill Guy.”

The teenager, dressed entirely in black, managed to get on to the set in Manchester where Guy is filming a remake of Sherlock Holmes.

A source said: “The bloke was screaming about Guy and shouting, ‘I love Madonna’.

“It was terrifying. At first it seemed like a sick joke but it was soon obvious the knifeman was not messing around.

"Luckily there were four security guards and two policemen who were able to overpower him.”
He added: “Guy was understandably upset, but carried on as if nothing had happened.”

The 16-year-old was arrested.

Obama's Grandmother Dies on Day Before Election

A day before the presidential election, Barack Obama announced the death Monday of his grandmother, who helped raise him and who he praised as the cornerstone of his family.

The Democratic presidential candidate announced the news in a joint statement with his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng. He said his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, had died peacefully after a battle with cancer.

He said: "She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances."

The candidate learned of her death Monday morning while he was campaigning in Jacksonville, Fla. He planned to go ahead with campaign appearances.

Late last month, Obama took a break from campaigning and flew to Hawaii to be with the 86-year-old Dunham.

Obama said the decision to go to Hawaii was easy to make, telling CBS that he "got there too late'' when his mother died of ovarian cancer in 1995 at 53, and wanted to make sure "that I don't make the same mistake twice."

Presidential Toilet

After eight long years of idiocy the world has had enough of George W. Bush.

At least San Francisco based artist Clark Sorensen has had enough. The artist wanted to vent his frustration through this controversial piece of art, the "Presidential Toilet".

Sorensen will be offering a sneak ‘pee-view’ of the piece on election night at his San Francisco studio. Visitors are encouraged to give ol’ George what he deserves: a good flush down the drain.

Sorensen will also have a one-man show entitled “Down The Drain - The Legacy of George W. Bush” that runs from January 17 to February 16, 2009 at Ruby’s Clay Studio and Gallery in San Francisco.

If you’re in the area, make sure to drop by and give it a wee look.

Melrose Place 2.0

According to Entertainment Weekly, The CW is planning to relaunch Melrose Place.

A spokesperson for The CW confirms what has been buzzed about for months, the network is developing an updated version of Melrose Place. Details remain sketchy, but it's believed Melrose 2.0 would launch next fall.

The move comes as The CW has enjoyed some measure of success with its 90210 reboot. Despite modest ratings, the show has brought attention to the struggling network at a time when it sorely needs it. The suits no doubt figure a Melrose rebirth will generate another round of mass hysteria. (And they'd be right!)

Earlier this month, Darren Star, who created both Melrose and 90210, admitted to TVGuide.com that a Melrose resurrection "would be a fun thing to do. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened -- if it can be put together in the right way."

I wonder if they will be bringing back some of the original cast members. I would love to see Heather (Amanda) Locklear, Jack (Peter) Wagner, Andrew (Billy) Shue, Grant (Jake) Show, Courtney (Alison) Thorne-Smith, Thomas (Michael) Calabro, Josie (Jane) Bissett, Lisa (Taylor) Rinna, Laura (Sydney) Leighton, Marcia (Kimberly) Cross, Doug (Matt) Savant, Daphne (Jo) Zuniga, Kristin (Brooke) Davis, Rob (Kyle) Estes, or the rest of the cast.

Ugly Betty Supports Gay Marriages

Ugly Betty star America Ferrara is the latest Hollywood star to publicly oppose a measure that would ban gay marriage in California.

She has appeared with co-stars Tony Plana and Ana Ortiz on Spanish language TV stations in an advert for No on Prop 8.
The statewide ballot on election day next Thursday seeks to overturn the state Supreme Court's ruling in May that same-sex couples are legally entitled to marry.

Internet companies Google and Apple, powerhouses of the California economy, have also backed the campaign to defeat Proposition 8.

Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg have both donated funds to No on Prop 8.

Yesterday California's senior United States Senator, Dianne Feinstein, appeared in an ad for the group. "It changes our constitution, eliminates fundamental rights, and treats people differently under the law," she said.

"We are so moved to have the strong, trusted and independent voice of Senator Feinstein joining the chorus of those voting no on 8," said No on Prop 8 Campaign Director Patrick Guerriero. "California voters know that Senator Feinstein speaks from the heart and it matters when she urges voters to reject this unfair initiative."

Earlier this week Maria Shriver, the wife of Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, publicly expressed her support for same-sex marriage in the state.

Last week a Public Policy Institute of California found Proposition 8 losing 52% to 44% among likely voters.

4% are undecided. In polls taken in August and September by the institute found double digit leads for opponents of the measure.

Proposition 8 would amend the state Constitution to "eliminate right of same-sex couples to marry."

In May the California Supreme Court overturned a ban on same-sex marriages in the state. The Court voted 4 to 3 to strike down the ban.

Opponents of gay marriage raised more than a million signatures to place the initiative on the November ballot.

A German doctor says, 'that is nothing, we can take a lung out of one person, and put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.

A Russian doctor says, 'in my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.

The Texas doctor, not to be outdone says, 'You guys are way behind, we took a man with no brains out of Texas, put him in the White House for eight years, and now half of AMERICA is looking for work.

New Pepsi Logo

How long does it take to remake an icon? Try five months.

That's the amount of time Pepsi took to revamp its famous logo, after top executives Indra Nooyi and Massimo d'Amore called for a "quantum leap" forward in transforming the soft-drink category and defining Pepsi as a cultural leader, said Frank Cooper, Pepsi's VP-portfolio brands.

"We felt like, as we move out of this traditional mass marketing and mass distribution era into today's culture, there's an opportunity to bring humanity back, both in terms of the design but also in the way we engage consumers," he said. "By making the logo more dynamic and more alive ... [it is] absolutely a huge step in the right direction."

And a costly one. Pepsi would not discuss what it's paying for the revamp, but experts estimate the cost for a top firm to work five months at north of $1 million. But that's just the beginning. The real cost, said an expert, is in removing the old logo everywhere it appears and putting new material up. For Coke or Pepsi, when you add up all the trucks, vending machines, stadium signage, point-of-sale materials and more around the world, it could easily tally several hundred million dollars, the expert said.

The new logo is a white band in the middle of Pepsi's circle that loosely forms a series of smiles: A smile will characterize brand Pepsi, while a grin is used for Diet Pepsi and a laugh is used for Pepsi Max. The new logo is Pepsi's 11th in its 110-year history. Five logos have been introduced in the past 21 years, with the last update in 2002.

Omnicom's Arnell Group was tapped to work on the redesigns, which also include Mountain Dew -- soon to be known as Mtn Dew -- and Sierra Mist. The agency already had experience working with Pepsi, having spearheaded more than 35 packaging designs for the company.

Consumers won't see a new campaign for a while. Mr. Cooper said the launch isn't expected until 2009. But "when we turn the lights on, hate it or love it, you will absolutely know that Pepsi is out in the marketplace," he said.

So far, branding experts are in both camps. "It's tilting the whole brand presentation from a classic expression of uniqueness and quality into something that is much more humorous, almost flippant," said Tony Spaeth, an identity consultant. "It worries me that it is less durable, less permanent and classic. It comes across as more of a campaign idea than an enduring brand expression."

"This seems to be a really good solution. It feels like the same Pepsi we know and love, but it's more adventurous, more youthful, with a bit more personality to it," said Chris Campbell, executive creative director at Interbrand. "In theory, what they're doing sounds like a really clever solution to link together a family of brands."

California's First Lady Backs Gay Marriage

Maria Shriver, the wife of Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, has publicly expressed her support for same-sex marriage in the state.

A ballot measure on election day, November 4th, seeks to ban gay and lesbians from getting married.

Proposition 8 has the support of church groups in California and many Republican politicians.

"I believe in people's right to choose a partner that they love, and that's a decision that I have come to, and I have felt that way for a long time," said Ms Shriver, a niece of former President John F Kennedy.

Her husband has also publicly opposed Proposition 8.
Computer giant Apple has declared Prop 8 a civil rights issue and donated $100,000 to the campaign to defeat it.

Google has also publicly backed gay marriage.

"We strongly believe that a person's fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation," Apple said in a statement.

Housewives Star Gale Harold Leaves Intensive Care

Good news! A rep for Desperate Housewives star Gale Harold reports, "[He] is out of intensive care and improving daily. A full recovery is expected. He thanks everyone for their good wishes."

The actor was injured in a motorcycle accident last week. He broke his shoulder in the accident and was placed in the hospital's neurosurgical ICU for observation.

Harold plays Jackson, the sexy new love interest of Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) on Desperate Housewives.

Was Heath Ledger Bi-Polar?

The late Hollywood star, Heath Ledger, may have suffered from bi-polar disorder, a new book about his life has claimed.

There is a history of the illness in the Ledger family with the book "Heath: A Family's Tale" revealing that one of his uncles, Haydn Ledger, has been diagnosed as bi-polar.

The claims come as photographs emerged of the late star playing a tragic clown in his final movie, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Ledger was taking a break from filming the movie, directed by Monty Python's Terry Gilliam, when he died, aged 28, from an accidental overdose of prescription medication in New York last January.

The book, by The Daily Telegraph reporter Janet Fife-Yeomans, reveals that friends believe Ledger's wildly fluctuating emotions, which ranged from euphoria to despair, may have been linked to bi-polar.

The condition is affected by traumas such as relationship breakdowns and Ledger's mental condition deteriorated after he split up with his partner Michelle Williams, the mother of their daughter Matilda.

About three months before Heath's death, his father Kim Ledger told friends at his Perth home of concerns he had for his son's welfare after spending time with him, the book claims.

Haydn Ledger, one of Kim's three estranged brothers, said that he had only recently been told that he was bi-polar and had been undergoing psychiatric treatment.

"I don't mind people knowing that I have the mental illness and it is a shame that it took this long to be diagnosed," Haydn Ledger, 52, said.

The fantasy film, that lets the audience go through a magic mirror and explore their imagination, was completed after Heath's death.

William Baldwin Wows Transsexual

William Baldwin's transsexual TV lover has dubbed the actor Hollywood's best kisser.

Candis Cayne, who plays Baldwin's "mistress" in the ABC TV hit series "Dirty Sexy Money", insists the actor throws himself into the pair's sex scenes - despite the fact she was born a man and he's all man.

Cayne says, "Billy Baldwin is a great kisser. His wife (Chynna Phillips) is a very lucky woman. Billy is a great guy inside out."
