Oprah Winfrey Regains Her Power – on Forbes List

Oprah Winfrey is back on top.

A year after slipping to No. 2 on Forbes' annual Celebrity 100 list, the media queen regained her crown as 2010's most powerful star worth an estimated $315 million.

Last year's title holder, Angelina Jolie, fell 17 spots while Beyoncé climbed to No. 2 with $87 million in earnings (husband Jay-Z landed the No. 15 spot).

The list – determined by a celebrity's earnings and fame – placed Avatar director James Cameron, who pocketed $210 million, at the No. 3 ranking. Lady Gaga and Tiger Woods rounded out the top five.

It was also a good year for Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift, who jumped up to No. 12 from 69, and Twilight stars Robert Pattinson (No. 50) and Kristen Stewart (No. 66). The popular franchise also helped author Stephenie Meyer earn a No. 59 ranking.

Avatar Sinks Titanic

James Cameron's Avatar has made movie history by overtaking his previous box-office blockbuster Titanic as the best-selling international release of all time.

Cameron's 3D sci-fi spectacular has replaced his 1997 historical drama at the top of the movie theatre charts by bringing in a massive $1.84 billion in ticket sales worldwide during its unbroken six-week reign.

Titanic, which won a staggering 11 Academy Awards, racked up $1.84 billion at the box office between 1997 and 1998.

Avatar overtook Titanic this weekend by pulling in another $36 million at theatres worldwide.

James Cameron's Films are 1st and 2nd on the All-time Box Office List

Moviemaker James Cameron can now boast the top two grossing films of all time - only his Titanic has made more at the box office than new movie Avatar.

The sci-fi epic has made over $1.14 billion globally since its release in December, relegating former number two blockbuster, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, to third on the all-time money-making list.

Avatar is only the fifth film to make more than $1 billion at the box office. Cameron's Titanic made $1.8 billion.

The latest box office news comes as the filmmaker celebrates a nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film at the Directors Guild Awards.
