Elizabeth Taylor's Health is Improving

It's good news for Elizabeth Taylor!

A week after checking into an L.A. hospital for symptoms associated with congestive heart failure, the Hollywood icon is showing marked improvement, People magazine has learned.

"Since being admitted, there has been steady improvement in her condition, and over the weekend she has had visits from family and close friends," says a statement from reps for the legendary actress, 78, who suffers from an ongoing heart condition. "Her medical team is gratified by her progress to date, and it is hoped and expected that this will continue over the next few days. For now, she will remain under their care in the hospital for continued monitoring."

While Taylor is enjoying visits from those close to her, "she is sleeping and resting a lot, which she really needs to recover her strength," the star's rep Sally Morrison told People. "Due to symptoms of congestive heart failure, she is still being monitored and continues to need rest to recover her strength. She did not have a heart attack."

Symptoms of congestive heart failure include difficulty breathing and fluid in the lungs.

Taylor, who underwent heart surgery in October 2009, appreciates support of her loyal fans. As the statement continues: "Friends and fans around the world should be reassured that Elizabeth Taylor is in good hands and receiving the best possible care from her skilled and dedicated doctors and nurses."

Zsa Zsa Gabor's Leg Is Amputated

After fighting to save Zsa Zsa Gabor's right leg, doctors had to perform an above-the-knee amputation on Friday, according to her publicist.

The ailing star, 93, was being treated at Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center for a very deep, 12-inch long lesion on her lower leg, which antibiotics were unable to cure.

Since last summer, the veteran glamour girl has suffered a series of health problems, including a hip replacement.

Her doctors tell the Associated Press that Gabor's surgery was successful and she is recovering.

Manager: Fantasia Took an Overdose of Aspirin and a Sleep Aid

It's been a rough week for Fantasia Barrino.

The American Idol season 3 champ was hospitalized Monday in Charlotte, N.C., after overdosing on aspirin and a sleep aid, her manager Brian Dickens confirmed Tuesday.

"Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time," Dickens said. "Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon."

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident was classified as a suicide attempt. The police report lists Dickens as the reporting person and says Barrino was found with "possible internal injuries."

The incident comes just after Barrino was named in a court filing alleging that she was having an affair with a married man. On Monday, the singer denied she was responsible for breaking up the marriage of Paula and Antwaun Cook. However, on Tuesday Dickens said the singer and Antwaun "dated off and on for 11 months."

Barrino believed Cook when "he told her he was not happy in his marriage" and that he and his wife "separated in the late summer of 2009," Dickens said.

The singer read Cook's complaint for the first time Monday and though she calls some of the allegations "totally false," she is "heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused. Yesterday she was totally overwhelmed with the lawsuit and the media attention."

But "Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured," her manager said. "Fantasia will be stronger, smarter and better for it. Fantasia sends her praise to God and her eternal gratitude to her fans, friends, and family."
