Did Modern Family's Sofia Vergara Fulfill Emmy Pledge to Run Nude in Hollywood?

Forget red. Modern Family is so thrilled with their Emmy win, they may have painted the town nude.

"Listen, I'm not afraid of anything. I'm Colombian," Sofia Vergara, 38, told Access Hollywood about streaking on one of the busiest streets in Hollywood.

The team behind the hit ABC comedy publicly – through an ad in the trade papers – stated in July that Vergara would "run naked down Sunset Blvd." if the show won outstanding comedy at Sunday's Emmys.

The ad did, however, in tiny print, have a disclaimer that the "cast member may change without notice," but Vergara says she's one to make good on an offer – and even claimed she'd already done the run.

"Yes, I mean, I'm fast. I run fast," she told a skeptical Billy Bush after the show won the award. "They zipped me and they sent me to do press."

Backing up her story: Vergara's Modern Family costar Julie Bowen. "When we went back to the press room, she had made a left turn and we all made a right turn," Bowen said. "So for about 20 minutes, she was missing."

When she returned, Bowen says Vergara replied that she "went to run nude down Sunset Boulevard. No one was there. So I did it. It's over … 'No one said I had to do it at a certain time.' "

Bowen also promised she'd do the deed if she won for best supporting actress. "Luckily that did not happen," she says. "I've never been so happy to lose in my life!"

Jewel's Emotional In Memoriam Emmy Tribute

Jewel led a touching in memoriam tribute at the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night, playing an unrecorded song she wrote for a close friend who recently died of cancer.

The singer took to the stage for an acoustic version of The Shape Of You as a montage of tributes to stars who recently passed away played in the background.

Beloved stars Jimmy Dean, Gary Coleman, Rue McClanahan, Dixie Carter, Lynn Redgrave, Lena Horne and Dennis Hopper were among those included in the Emmy in memoriam segment.

Jewel revealed the song's personal nature during the Emmy pre-show, confessing it would be difficult for her to sing live: "It’s a song I wrote for a friend that passed away. It’s a personal song and it’s not recorded... Hopefully it will have a lot of heart and hopefully people enjoy it. I'm really happy to be able to sing for people who lost a love one. It's a hard song for me to sing."

George Clooney Accepts Humanitarian Award

George Clooney brought a lighthearted touch while accepting a special Emmy Award for a rather serious subject.

"I have offered to go to the south of Sudan and stage, like, a wardrobe malfunction," Clooney cracked, while accepting the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at Sunday's telecast. "But it was pointed out to me that I'm 49, and the consensus was that it would just be upsetting. And kind of sad."

The actor, who was recognized for most recently organizing a telethon for victims of the Haitian earthquake, has also been active in raising awareness about genocide in Darfur.

After receiving a standing ovation as he walked on stage, Clooney joked that everybody should be seated. "Don't do that because then I feel like maybe I'm sick and I don't know it," he said.

Backstage, however, Clooney didn't mind the attention – and joked that reporters call him "Mr. Clooney." He also told reporters that his highlight of the night was hanging out backstage with lead actor in a miniseries or movie winner Al Pacino and Tom Selleck.

He also confirmed that his date for the night was girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis. "She picked me up from Italy," he cracked.

Emmys Have a Mad, Modern Night

One old favorite and one new kid on the block took top Emmy honors.

Mad Men won the outstanding drama series for the third consecutive year on Sunday night, while Modern Family was named outstanding comedy series.

A 14-time nominee, ABC's ensemble comedy netted an early win for supporting actor Eric Stonestreet, who plays the loveable Cameron Tucker.

"All I wanted to be was a clown in the circus when I was a kid growing up," the first-time winner, who called the gig "the most amazing job ever," said onstage.

Another freshman series, Glee, collected an award for director Ryan Murphy and Jane Lynch, who won outstanding supporting actress in a comedy for her role as the scheming Sue Sylvester.

In a shout-out to the ensemble cast, she joked, "I love you. You're young and you're wonderful. You're fresh-faced, and when I'm not seething with jealousy, I'm so proud of you."

First-Time Winners

It was a recurring theme during the three-hour telecast from L.A.'s Nokia Theatre: Many first-time nominees were rewarded with Emmys, especially on the dramatic front, where a fleet of new faces won.

Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul nabbed outstanding supporting actor in a drama, while The Good Wife's Archie Panjabi picked up outstanding supporting actress in a drama. And The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick won outstanding leading actress in a drama after four previous nominations.

One exception: Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, who took home the outstanding actor in a drama trophy for the third consecutive year. Noting his esteemed fellow nominees, he expressed his gratitude, saying, "I'm so humbled and amazed to be in your company."

Edie Falco claimed outstanding actress in a comedy for Nurse Jackie and Jim Parsons won outstanding actor in a comedy for The Big Bang Theory.

Kate Dances ... Again

Emmy host Jimmy Fallon kicked things off with little help from Glee and Kate Gosselin, who laced up her dancing shoes once again after a less-than-lauded turn on Dancing with the Stars.

In addition, the host recruited an A-list team – including Tina Fey, Kate Gosselin, Jane Lynch, Randy Jackson, Jon Hamm and Betty White – for a zippy musical number. The group performed Bruce Springsteen's propulsive hit "Born to Run" after a short skit in which the Glee kids said they couldn't afford tickets to the awards show.

Gosselin, who famously earned low marks on Dancing with the Stars, poked fun at herself, teasing with Fallon and his crew, "I can help [with the performance]; I'm a great dancer."

Here's a list of all the winners from last night's telecast:

Outstanding Comedy Series: Modern Family
Outstanding Drama Series: Mad Men
Lead Actress in a Comedy: Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie
Lead Actor in a Comedy: Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory
Supporting Actress in a Comedy: Jane Lynch, Glee
Supporting Actor in a Comedy: Eric Stonestreet, Modern Family

Betty White, Neil Patrick Harris & "Old Spice" Claim Early Emmys

She won for being naughty on the subject of muffins, and he won – twice – for singing and dancing.

Betty White's Facebook-generated Saturday Night Live hosting gig and Neil Patrick Harris's turns as Tonys host and special guest star on Glee landed both veteran TV stars in the winners' circle at Saturday night's Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

Though White, 88, was not at the Nokia Theater to collect her prize (her Snickers ad was also up for TV's highest honor), presenters John Lithgow and Clyde Phillips accepted on her behalf.

Meanwhile, Harris, 37, was present and accounted for – and he gave a special shout-out to Los Angeles Times forums moderator Chris "Boomer" Beachum, the newspaper reports. It was Boomer who revealed that the actor was missing from the list of nominees in the category of best special class, as host of the 63rd annual Tony Awards.

Accepting his gold statuette, Harris said, "I just want to thank Boomer from The Envelope, or I wouldn't have gotten this."

Harris, who also thanked his partner and (co-parent-to-be) David Burtka, is up for a best supporting actor in a series, for How I Met Your Mother, at next Sunday's Primetime Emmy Awards.

Saturday's other winners also included Jaime Oliver's Food Revolution (best reality series), previous Emmy-winning Survivor host Jeff Probst (best reality-show host) and Ann-Margret, for her guest -starring role on Law and Order: SVU.

The ad firm Weiden + Kennedy also received a Creative Arts Emmy for its Old Spice commercial, whose star, Isaiah Mustafa, told the Hollywood Reporter before the ceremony, "This is my first awards show, and I get to be nominated alongside Betty White!"

Maksim Danced for Karina During Their Emmys Performance

Maksim Chmerkovskiy isn't her No. 1 man anymore, but he said he danced his heart out for ex-fiancé Karina Smirnoff's sake at their Emmy Awards performance Sunday night.

"Honestly the majority of what I did today was because I knew how big of a deal it was for her," he said at the Entertainment Tonight/People after-party, adding that he’d agreed to perform with Smirnoff before they split and wanted to hold up his end of the bargain. "She wants this. She wants to see how she can excel. Dancing at the Emmys was such an amazing spotlight. I just wanted to make sure to give it to her even if it's the last thing I do. So I wanted to do the best job I could, but it was hard."

Hard because he's still smarting from their break-up, announced earlier this month.

"It's difficult, but we're trying to work it out," Chmerkovskiy said of their effort to maintain a friendship. As for the next season of Dancing with the Stars, he says don't expect any problems. "It's not about the show. It's just us. To me it was never about anybody else or the show. It was about us. That's what was important to me. We'll see how it goes."

The fact that the video highlight seemed to play up the tragedy of their split didn't exactly help either, he said, calling the highlight of their DWTS dances together "ridiculous."

"I wasn't nervous, but I got really anxious, he said. "Karina gets nervous. I told her not to turn around for her own good. The lift was the most important. Once we were done with that everything else was a breeze."

Costar Derek Hough – who went through his own break-up with actress and former dance partner Shannon Elizabeth – told People he can sympathize.

"For instance with me and Shannon, we broke up after a year and a half, but we're still really great friends," he said. "We still love each other. It's just a different type of love."

"I think when you really love somebody – you hear who people were dating say, 'Oh, I love this person,' and then after the break-up say, 'Oh, I hate them' – I don’t understand that. When I love somebody I will continue to love them forever and be there."

61st Primetime Emmy Awards
Mad Men and 30 Rock Named TV's Top Shows

Comedy rocked once again at the 61st Primetime Emmys, where 30 Rock was named top sitcom series and its lead male star, Alec Baldwin, outstanding actor in a comedy series.

"That was a real nail biter," said the show's creator, producer and star Tina Fey when she accepted the award toward the end of Sunday night's ceremony. She also thanked NBC for keeping the show on the air, even though, as she pointed out, it is more expensive than a talk show.

For the second consecutive year, AMC's Mad Men, a period '60s look at Madison Avenue's advertising world and those who worked in it, was named outstanding drama series.

Bryan Cranston of AMC's Breaking Bad – and not that same network's resident sex symbol, Jon Hamm of Mad Men – won the Emmy for outstanding leading actor in a drama series. In an eloquent speech, Cranston said, "I'm a poor kid from the [San Fernando] Valley. I don't know what I'm doing up here."

Glenn Close, star of FX's Damages, was named best actress in a drama series and thanked the other actresses nominated, whom she called "my category sisters." She called her TV character, high-powered lawyer Patty Hewes, "the role of a lifetime – depending on what the writers do with her this season."

AMC'S Mad Men was recognized for its writing, specifically the episode titled "Mediations in an Emergency."

Michael Emerson, dramatic supporting actor winner for ABC's Lost, admitted to "living out a character actor's dream," because what started as a guest spot "is now the role of a lifetime."

Cherry Jones, a first-time Emmy nominee, took home the gold as outstanding dramatic supporting actress for her role as the President on FOX's '24'. She promised that her statuette will be on the crafts service's table when the series resumes filming Monday.

Jessica Lange thanked the TV Academy for honoring her as best leading actress for the HBO movie Grey Gardens, and acknowledged that such meaty roles don't come around for her that often anymore. She also paid tribute to costar Drew Barrymore, whom Lange called "brilliant" and "generous." The two starred as the real-life, eccentric Beales, mother Big Edie (Lange) and daughter Little Edie (Barrymore), the indigent cousins of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Grey Gardens, which took its title from the Beales' rundown East Hampton estate, was also named best TV movie.

Jon Stewart, Sports Fan

Though it was bypassed for best reality show (in favor of The Amazing Race), FOX's American Idol was honored for its director Bruce Gowers, for the Final Three episode.

Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart won the Emmy for best writing of a variety series, then went on to be named outstanding music, variety or comedy series. Host Stewart thanked the crowd for giving him the Emmy and then the opportunity "to go backstage and watch a football game."

Hugh Jackman's opening number when he hosted the 81st annual Academy Awards was named best song.

The first half of the three-hour ceremony, which CBS broadcast live from Los Angeles's Nokia Theater, devoted the majority of its time to honoring comedy performers, with 30 Rock's Baldwin, The United States of Tara's Toni Collette, Two and a Half Men's Jon Cryer and Pushing Daisies' Kristin Chenoweth ending up in the winners' circle. Host Neil Patrick Harris also kept things hopping – and funny.

Neil Patrick Harris: 'We'd Make Very Good Parents'

Despite rumors to the contrary, Neil Patrick Harris, star of How I Met Your Mother and host of this year's Emmys says he and partner David Burtka and are not expecting a child – yet.

Still, "We'd make very good parents," Harris, 36, tells New York Magazine. And they're already making one very good couple.

"We yin and yang very well," he tells the magazine. "I'm just bowled over by him. I'm his forever protector, and I'm happiest when he's happy."

But coming to terms with his sexuality in Hollywood wasn't always so easy for the former child star of Doogie Howser, M.D. "I tried ... dating different girls, being the funny, witty guy at the party," he says.

One person that helped inspire him? A gay Real World cast member. Danny Roberts, of The Real World: New Orleans, "was a unique entity at the time, as someone who was seemingly so confident in their own skin," says Harris.

As host of this year's Emmy Awards, Harris jokes that he hoped to include the Muppets – specifically Statler and Waldorf up in the balcony – in the opening number. And while that plan didn't pan out, the actor jokes, with self-mocking air quotes, that he'll make this year's show the "classy Emmys."

Tune in to the show September 20th to see what he means!

Farrah Fawcett Receives Posthumous Emmy Nod

Three times nominated for her acting, though never a winner, Farrah Fawcett received her fourth Emmy nod posthumously on Thursday, as an executive producer of Farrah's Story, the May 15th NBC special that tracked the three-year cancer battle that eventually claimed her life on June 25th.

Fawcett, 62, was best known for her portrayal of Jill Munroe on Charlie's Angels, though she only remained with the show its first season, 1976-77. Her acting nominations were for roles in The Burning Bed (1984), Small Sacrifices (1989) and The Guardian (2004).

In a statement Thursday, Fawcett's longtime companion, Ryan O'Neal said, "For the Television Academy to recognize Farrah's Story with this nomination is such a wonderful acknowledgment for Farrah and her legacy. I know that she is smiling that fabulous smile right now in heaven, and that she is grateful that the show has been so well received not only by her peers in the industry but by the public at large."

Emmy Nominations are Here

Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey's hit comedy 30 Rock is leading the charge for the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards after landing a whopping 22 nominations.

The show will defend its title as Best TV Comedy for the third year running, against Entourage, Weeds, Flight of the Conchords, the U.S. version of The Office, How I Met Your Mother and Family Guy. The animated series' inclusion is the first time a cartoon has been shortlisted for the prize since The Flintstones in 1961.

30 Rock's leading stars will do battle in the male and female categories for the best comedy actor awards. Hollywood star Baldwin is up against the likes of Steve Carell (The Office), Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men) and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), while Fey is competing with Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?), Sarah Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program), and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds).

Meanwhile, Mad Men has scored 16 nods, including Best Drama Series - which it won last year - and Best Lead Actor, Drama for Jon Hamm and Best Lead Actress, Drama for Elisabeth Moss.

Hamm is nominated alongside actors such as Dexter's Michael C. Hall, Simon Baker for The Mentalist, and Hugh Laurie for medical series House; and Moss will face stiff competition from Glenn Close (Damages), Sally Field (Brothers & Sisters) and Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), among others in her category.

House and legal thriller Damages are also in the running for Best Drama Series.

In the TV movie categories, Drew Barrymore's Grey Gardens - in which the actress plays Jackie Kennedy-Onassis' reclusive cousin 'Little' Edie Beale - garnered 17 nominations, with the star receiving recognition for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. The HBO film is also up for the prizes of Outstanding Casting and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie Or A Special for moviemaker Michael Sucsy, in addition to a number of technical awards.

And there was praise for actress Chandra Wilson, who announced the nominees on Thursday morning with Jim Parsons. She was named alongside Barrymore in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie category for her role in Accidental Friendship, while her turn in Grey's Anatomy earned her a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

The 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out on September 20th at a ceremony in Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre and will be presented by Neil Patrick Harris.

First the Tonys, Now the Emmys for
Neil Patrick Harris

Okay, Oscars: fair warning. This year's Tonys host Neil Patrick Harris is going to emcee the September 20th Emmy Awards, it was officially announced Monday after word slipped out July 2nd.

"After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to get the call about the primetime Emmys," said the How I Met Your Mother star, 36, the Associated Press reports.

As for "adding my own voice" to the proceedings, which honors TV's best, Harris wonders, "But which voice to choose? I'm torn between gangsta, foppish Brit and robot. Really proud of my robot. We'll see what happens on the night."

The Emmys will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Before he hosted awards shows, Harris, who has done Broadway, rose to fame as the bright teen doctor on the classic Doogie Howser, M.D. He also lampooned his own image in the Harold and Kumar movies.

Cheryl Ladd Talks About Working with Farrah Fawcett and Feeling “Hurt” at Being Left Out of “Angels” Emmy Reunion

With Farrah Fawcett’s passing last week, a great deal of attention has been paid to her last public appearance at the 2006 Emmy Awards - just two weeks before she received her cancer diagnosis.

At the end of a tribute to Charlie’s Angels creator Aaron Spelling on that Emmy night, Fawcett stunned and delighted the audience when she walked out hand-in-hand with her Angels’ co-stars Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith.

So where was Cheryl Ladd? She replaced Farrah on the show after season one and remained on it for four years until it was cancelled in 1981. She admits to feeling “hurt” that she was not asked to participate in the reunion and tribute to Spelling.

“I think Kate made the decision for everybody that this is how it was going to be,” Ladd says in the new issue of TV Guide. “I was the outsider, but Jaclyn and I have remained fast friends.”

While Farrah left the show after the first season, she and Ladd did work together for a total of six episodes during seasons three and four when Farrah made guest appearances as part of a legal settlement with producers. Since their characters were sisters, the two had many of their scenes together.

“It was awkward,” Ladd admits. “I don’t think she wanted to be there. She was a little surprised how well the show did after she left. So we both chose to be 100 percent professional.”

It is ironic that Ladd was excluded from the reunion since the continued success of the show hinged on her being able to fill Fawcett’s shoes and connect with the public. Ratings for seasons two and three soared and did not drop off until season four when Jackson left and was replaced by Shelly Hack.
