David Archuleta's Twitter Panic: I'm Not Gay

David Archuleta took to Twitter this weekend after a report was published that he had been spotted at NYC's gay nightspot Club 57, despite the fact that the report acknowledged that he was only there to see dance artist Charice perform:

"So, was David bumping and grinding with some steamy Dominican muscle man? Hardly. David was there with his friend Charice, who performed a dance remix of her current hit single, 'Pyramid' at the coveted 1:30 a.m. spot. Reportedly, however, Charice and her entourage, which included David and his old band mate Eli, did do something terribly scandalous after the performance: They went to a local Pinkberry for ice cream."

Wrote Archuleta: "Mental note to self: always ask where before you go! Wasn't my kind of place lol, and I had no clue! I guess you live and learn."

He later added: "I wouldn't get into things like that intentionally haha."

And finally, "I didn't want you guys to be worried so had to let you know the facts."

Presumably Archuleta has a lot of gay fans. It's too bad he considers being thought of as gay something to freak out about."

American Idol Results Night Shocker!

The votes are in on Idol! After the best night of performances so far this season, the top 9 faced America’s decision on Tuesday — and the results were shocking.

Ryan Seacrest, at the start of the hour, informed the audience that “the judges have told me there are shocking surprises.”

Not only did Michael Lynche land in the bottom two for the first time — he was the bottom one, period, while Andrew Garcia was the one to escape to safety.

But Michael happens to be one of the singers most consistently favored by the judges. In fact, they unanimously voted him back into the competition using their one save of the season.

So what did the guy do wrong? Well, he definitely had an off night Tuesday, singing an overblown “Eleanor Rigby” — a contradiction in terms, really, and not of much interest to viewers more captivated by the mop top adorableness of Tim Urban, who avoided the bottom three altogether, for once. It might be a good idea, in fact, never to sing “Eleanor Rigby” on Idol.

But what did Michael do right? He reprised one of his most heartfelt performances, singing “This Woman’s Work” to his wife (and mother of his infant daughter) as she sobbed in the audience. Michael put the song across with soul and just a hint of fighting defiance. He definitely deserved to be saved.

Andrew would not have been saved. And there is no doubt that the judges would have reached out to Aaron Kelly, who was the third singer in the circle of doom this week.

All three women — Crystal Bowersox, Siobhan Magnus and Katie Stevens — were declared safe at the start of the hour. Ellen had correctly predicted Katie would finally be liberated from the bottom three, thanks to her cover of “Let It Be.” Katie revealed that she’d sung it for her grandmother.

Rihanna performed “Rockstar 101” and looked amazing. David Archuleta sang “Imagine,” as he did when he was a contestant.

Adam Lambert is next week’s mentor. Should be wild — only not this wild. No word on next week's theme.

David Archuleta’s Father Busted for Soliciting a Prostitute

Singer David Archuleta’s father was arrested for soliciting a massage parlor prostitute. David’s father, Jeff Archuleta, says he was seeking treatment for a back problem at a Midvale, Utah massage parlor when cops raided the building arrested him for prostitution.

According to the police report, Jeff “admitted to receiving sexual gratification from the masseuse” and pleaded “no contest” with a $582 fine.

As usmagazine.com reports, Jeff’s lawyer, Eric Bauer, is denying all this:

“Oh, I don’t know what those police officers say, I mean, who knows what they say,” he told New York’s Daily News of police claims. “He did not go there for sex and that was it and pure, plain and simple that’s the way it was.”

David Archuleta: My Heart Goes Out to David Cook

David Archuleta was once David Cook's main competitor on American Idol – but now has only kind words for his friend, who lost his brother, Adam, to brain cancer over the weekend.

"It really struck me when I heard about the news of Cook's brother," Archuleta says in a statement. "I know they had been struggling with it for a while, so my heart really goes out to them. It's so admirable the way he's handling it though, and it's amazing to see him there as an example for millions of other people who have also been affected the same way he and his family have."

Continues the statement: "I'll be keeping him in my thoughts and prayers, and hope the Cook family stays strong."

David Cook's brother, Adam, died on Saturday after battling cancer for more than a decade.

American Idol's Top 7 Live Results Show

Well, as promised, two contendars were eliminated during last night's live results show on American Idol. And to no surprise, Lil Rounds was the first one to be sent "home sweet home".

The show continued on to a performance of Disco medleys which included Thelma Houston and KC (from KC and the Sunshine Band). In addition, David Archuleta (last year's runner up) performed his latest single "Touch My Hand".

Finally at the end, Ryan selected the bottom 2nd and 3rd (remember Lil was the lowest in the bottom three). Anoop Desai and (surprisingly) Allison Iraheta were in the bottom three. And at the end, it was Anoop who was also sent "home sweet home" on this double elimination night.

American got the bottom two right. I hate seeing Lil go home, but she truly had the worst performance on Tuesday night.

Before I forget...what did you think of the Top 7's group performance which was choreographed by Paula Abdul? In my opinion, the dancing was good...but the singing (I mean lip syncing) was atrocious. Do you feel the same? Share your comments below.

David Cook & David Archuleta Announce Spring Tours

Last season's American Idol winner David Cook and runner-up David Archuleta announced separate tours that kick off next month.

Cook, 26, will premiere his first solo tour – The Declaration Tour 2009 – on Feb. 13 in Tallahassee, Fla. His tour will continue across the country at college campuses through April 25, ending at the University of Tulsa. "There's something inherently nostalgic about playing college shows," said Cook on his website. "So many amazing acts used to do it, so it's nice to be able to bring that ideal back in some small way."

Season 7 runner-up Archuleta, 18, kicks off his first solo tour on Feb. 24 in Virginia Beach, Va., according to his MySpace blog. His 20-city tour ends on March 21 in Boise, Idaho.
