Actress Julianna Margulies hit Chris Noth so violently while filming a scene for The Good Wife, the pair was forced to stop the shoot.
The former ER star, who walked away with a Best Actress Golden Globe for her role in the series on Sunday, plays Noth's wife in the show.
The onscreen couple is rocked by scandal and during one tumultuous scene, Margulies had to punch the Sex and the City star in the face - and Noth was left nursing a nasty injury from the stunt.
Margulies says, "I did really whack him. There was no other way to do it. And Chris Noth is so great. He's like, 'Oh, please, I've been hit so many times.' So we did it three times.
"The first time I didn't hit him hard enough, apparently. The second time was good but the camera was off. And the third time was perfect. And I left a red welt, so we couldn't shoot it again."
Sex and the City star Chris Noth and his longtime girlfriend, actress Tara Wilson, are engaged, Entertainment Tonight Canada is reporting.
Noth, 54, broke the news to the show Sunday during an interview at the London, Ontario, outpost of Once Upon A Tea Cup, a teahouse of which he and Canadian-born Wilson, 27, are partners.
The couple, who met when Wilson worked at Noth's New York City bar, the Cutting Room, have a son, Orion Christopher Noth, who turns two in January.
In mid-September, Noth denied a U.K. report that he and Wilson were engaged at the time.
A rep for Noth did not immediately return a request seeking comment.
Chris Noth will be back as Mr, Big in the Sex & The City: The Movie sequel after coming to terms with producers over his film deal.
Noth recently revealed he was still "in negotiations" with producers to reprise his role, even though filming on the sequel started in March.
But his co-star and on-screen partner Sarah Jessica Parker tells E! News the actor will definitely be back to play her husband on the big screen.
The actor has admitted he has big plans for his character when he does reprise his role: "I want him to travel the world. I think he and (Parker's character) Carrie (Bradshaw) should go to Bali."
But Parker insists producers have yet to tell the pair how the plot will unfold.
Chris Noth, the tall drink of water who is absolutely the only Mr. Big confirmed he has yet to sign on for the highly anticipated SATC sequel.
The San Francisco Gate reports Noth is “still ‘in negotiations’ with producers, even though filming on the sequel started last month.” But, Noth assured the paper, "We'll get there." (Phew.)
Noth also shared some dreams for the character, whose real name we learned in the first movie is John James Preston. "I want him to travel the world. I think he and Carrie should go to Bali."
Just in case you've forgotten even a second of Carrie and Big's chemistry in the SATC movie, take a look at the trailer from the film one more time:
