Pierce Brosnan: 'Mamma Mia! Sequel is No More'

Pierce Brosnan has given up hope for a sequel to hit movie musical Mamma Mia! after revealing plans to film a follow-up have fallen through.

The former James Bond actor teamed up with Meryl Streep and Colin Firth for the 2008 blockbuster and movie producers were reportedly keen to cash in on its popularity with a second installment.

Last year Streep admitted she was doubtful plans for a sequel would ever come into fruition, saying, "I heard that they were talking about it, but I am not sure it's real."

And now Brosnan appears to have lost interest.

Asked by http://www.empireonline.com/ for an update on Mamma Mia! 2, Brosnan says, "No, I don't think that's happening."

The movie grossed more than $573 million across the globe upon its release in 2008.

Dominic Cooper's Mamma Mia! Sequel Concerns

British star Dominic Cooper is desperate to star in a Mamma Mia! sequel - but he fears movie bosses will leave him out if a new movie is made.

The actor has heard rumors a follow-up to the successful 2008 movie musical is in the works, but he has not yet been approached to reprise his role.

He says, "I'm quite worried because a lot of people are talking and hearing about this number two but I haven't heard anything yet. It is giving me the impression that perhaps I am not included in this one. I'm hearing whispers it may be a prequel so I'm thinking, if it is that is not good for me."

Cooper has very fond memories of making Mamma Mia! because he met girlfriend Amanda Seyfried on the set, playing her love interest.

The Abba-themed film, which stars Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, scored huge box office success with global takings of $573 million.

Amanda Seyfried Wants More Mamma Mia!

Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried are game for a Mamma Mia! movie sequel - as long as it includes ABBA duo Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.

Seyfried, who played Streep's daughter in the movie musical, has revealed there are talks about a sequel - and she'd jump at the chance to revive her character.

She says, "I've been talking to some insiders and it's not something that they haven't been working on. I don't actually know anything other than that.

"I know it's still going to be ABBA music, because what else would it be? Come on, I wouldn't do Mamma Mia 2 without Benny and Bjorn.

"I think we all had the best time and we all got along so well. It was like some days it felt like we were just people on vacation. I will do it. And I know Meryl's game as well, so bring it on. It will be so cool."

Seyfried has very fond memories of making Mamma Mia! because she met boyfriend Dominic Cooper on the set. The Brit played her love interest in the film.

Amanda Seyfried Thought Dominic Cooper was Gay

Amanda Seyfried was convinced her boyfriend Dominic Cooper was gay when she first met him.

The pair fell for each other on the set of Mamma Mia! last year and has been stepping out together ever since.

But Seyfried admits the romance almost didn't happen.

She tells Britain's InStyle magazine, "It was so not instant. I thought he was gay. I didn't know many Englishmen and it was just the way he dressed - he's quite fashionable."
