The Scoop on Oprah’s 10th Anniversary Issue Cover

Why celebrate your birthday by just blowing out a candle when you can have a blow-out magazine cover?

Oprah Winfrey will fĂȘte the ten-year anniversary of her eponymous magazine with a special cover featuring the star in a glittering custom gown designed by Isaac Mizrahi.

Shot by photographer Ruven Afanador, the cover of O, the Oprah Magazine’s 10th anniversary issue in May features the media mogul posing with a towering, flower-bedecked cake, dressed in a sequined lilac dress with three-quarter sleeves that is a re-imagining of a spring 2010 Mizrahi look just for her.

“I wanted Oprah’s look to radiate celebration,” says O creative director Adam Glassman, who collaborated with the designer on Oprah’s cover look.

While the daytime talk show empress has announced the end of her show in 2011, fans will be pleased to know that the shoot ended with a toast from Oprah, proclaiming, “Here’s to the next ten years!”

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of O, The Oprah Magazine with Oprah herself and her pals during their N.Y.C. celebration weekend, visit www.oprah.com/oturns10 for info and limited tickets, and pick up a copy of the magazine when it hits newsstands on April 13th.

Oprah & Ellen Share the Spotlight

When does the queen of all media share the cover of her own magazine with anyone?

When that someone is fellow talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

That's right: For the second time in its history, O, the Oprah Magazine is letting someone share the cover with Oprah Winfrey, in its December issue, out November 12th.

In fact, the duo posed for four different versions of the cover. One photograph features Winfrey, 55, and DeGeneres, 51, all in white, with Winfrey perched atop a giant gift box. Another has DeGeneres tied up in a string of holiday lights.

Inside, Ellen chats about life with wife Portia DeRossi – and her new job as an American Idol judge.

"They came to me, and it was a total surprise," she says. "I like to try new things because I get bored so easily. And I like the show, so I thought it was a great idea."

And so was having her on the cover of the magazine, Winfrey adds.

"Ellen DeGeneres is a woman who can make things happen," Winfrey says. "When she decided she wanted to be on the cover of O, she pulled out all the stops. It worked – for only the second time in O history, I'm sharing the cover with a woman I adore."

"When Ellen arrived at the photo shoot for our cover, I didn't have to ask her how she was doing: it showed on her face," she continues. "She radiated the kind of peace and satisfaction that comes only when you're living at your highest potential."

Winfrey first shared the cover with First Lady Michelle Obama for on the April 2009 issue.
