Michelle Williams: I Will Watch Brokeback Mountain With My Daughter One Day

Michelle Williams met late boyfriend Heath Ledger on the set of 'Brokeback Mountain,' but so far, it's been too difficult to show their daughter, four year-old Matilda.

The actress, nominated for a Golden Globe for this year's indie hit 'Blue Valentine,' spoke with Angeleno Magazine about, among other things, growing up herself alongside a daughter without her very famous father. In some ways, it's baby steps for the young girl.

"I was just an actor who happened to be lucky enough to be in the right place, and it was the place where I met Matilda's father, and that is a lot," she said. "It was a lot. And it will be a lot for Matilda too, when she gets around to watching it. I will watch it with her, when she's ready. It is hard to imagine what that would feel like, but one day, yes, we will watch it together."

For now, Matilda is maturing in other ways -- one slow day at a time.

"Her hair is down to her chin and she has decided she can have her bangs trimmed, but she doesn't want a bob anymore," Williams explained. A bob is cute for a three-year-old but she is five now... It's crazy how fast time is going for me and how agonizingly slow it is going for her. When she was four she would say 'I am four and a half,' 'I am four and five-sixths,' 'four and seven-eighths,' because all the increments mattered."

With time moving so quickly for Williams, she has grown a lot in her own ways, in large part because of what she went through.

"I've done a lot. I have taken on a lot of things earlier than would be the standard in terms of working, of being in a serious relationship and having a child. I was 25 when I had Matilda and so I feel like I have caught up to myself, and 30 feels like a number that maybe matches all those things a little bit better."

'Blue Valentine' wins MPAA appeal for R rating

Good news for Blue Valentine! The MPAA has changed the gritty indie’s dreaded NC-17 rating to a much-friendlier R after Harvey Weinstein himself appeared at a appeal hearing.

“I am so appreciative that the MPAA was gracious enough to reconsider their rating of the film,” star Ryan Gosling said in a statement. “I can’t express how grateful I am to those in the media who stood up for the film and put their reputations on the line in using their voices to support something they believed in. This is a film that was created for the audience, to reflect how complex they are and to involve them in a dialogue that [director] Derek Cianfrance has been trying to engage them in for 12 years. We’re over the moon to have the opportunity to finally be able to share it with those for whom it was intended.”

When Entertainment Weekly spoke to Weinstein last month, he said he had already assembled lawyers to appeal the rating, including Alan Friedman, who helped TWC win an R rating for Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and David Boies, who represented Al Gore in the 2000 Supreme Court case Bush v. Gore and teamed with former Solicitor General Theodore Olson this year to challenge California Proposition 8 ban on gay marriage.

Michelle Williams Fighting to Keep New Movie's Sex Scene from the Editing Room

Actress Michelle Williams is urging producers not to edit her harrowing new film Blue Valentine in order to get the movie a better rating - because she'd prefer cinemagoers saw it as it was intended.

Officials at the Motion Picture Association of America's Classification and Rating Administration have awarded the movie a restrictive NC-17 rating because of a drunken sex scene featuring Williams and her co-star Ryan Gosling.

Producer Harvey Weinstein is challenging the movie censors' over the ban for under-17s, and an appeal hearing will take place later this month.

But Williams tells Entertainment Weekly magazine that no matter what, the film should not be cut.

She says, "I’m happy for it to stay just like it is. Genuinely, I am. Movies get to have long lives and it’ll be judged and rejudged in 10 or 20 or 30 years, and I’ll be curious to see how it stands."

But she's still unhappy with the MPAA rating: "It seems like such a condemnation. It feels like such a slap on the hand, like you’ve been a bad kid or something."

Ryan Gosling's New Flick is an 'Erotic Thriller'

Ryan Gosling’s new film is so steamy, he thinks it should be classified as an “erotic thriller.”

The 29-year-old actor said his upcoming movie Blue Valentine, in which he stars alongside Brokeback Mountain actress Michelle Williams, is pretty darn sexual.

He said (via NYPost.com): “I've heard the film described as a portrait of love falling apart, but I think they should call it an 'erotic thriller'. That sounds way more fun. Sex is a really important character in the film.”

In the upcoming drama, the pair play a married couple who are trying to halt the breakdown of their relationship by remembering the early days of their romance. Although the movie does contain lovemaking scenes, the Canadian actor insists it is integral to the storyline and is not used gratuitously.

He added: "Sex is a bone of contention in the present and a dialogue of their love in the past.”

The movie is due for release later this year.

Michelle Williams Tipped for Marilyn Monroe Role

Actress Michelle Williams has been tipped to take on the role of Marilyn Monroe in a new movie about the screen icon.

The Brokeback Mountain star has reportedly been offered the lead in upcoming film My Week With Marilyn, winning the title role ahead of other actresses including Scarlett Johansson and Amy Adams who are both said to have been considered for the part.

British newspaper the Daily Mail reports director Simon Curtis and producer David Parfitt picked Williams to play Monroe, but are still waiting for the Oscar-nominated star to agree.

The picture will document Monroe's time filming 1957 movie The Prince and The Showgirl with Laurence Olivier and is based on a diary kept by the film's assistant director Colin Clarke.

Michelle Williams & Spike Jonze Split

Actress Michelle Williams has ended her romance with director Spike Jonze, blaming their split on "impossible timing".

The Brokeback Mountain star began dating the filmmaker in July 2008, just months after Williams' ex-fiance Heath Ledger died from an accidental drug overdose in January.

But, in a candid new interview with fashion bible Vogue, Williams reveals she is no longer in a relationship with Jonze because she is still grieving the loss of Ledger.

She says, "The timing was impossible. I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This erroneous idea: it just makes things more complicated."

The actress admits she struggled to deal with the tragedy while getting used to being a single mum to her three-year-old daughter with Ledger, Matilda, in addition to juggling the pressures of a new love.

But she concedes she was overwhelmed by everything that had happened: "I obviously don't know how to do it."

And Williams confesses she came close to breaking down at the end of 2008 because the pain was too much.

She adds, "I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the fall and winter. I didn't know if I could keep it all together… You console yourself by saying it's all a deepening process. But it's weird.

"After the first year, the pain is less intense - it's less immediate."

But the magical thinking goes away too. And that’s a whole new reckoning. But every time I really miss him and wonder where he’s gone, I just look at [Matilda].”

On reflecting back on the good times: “Brokeback Mountain was an unrepeatable moment in time, a very charmed time in my life. I was in love; I was in a movie I was proud to be a part of, and with a beautiful brand-new baby. Everything was good in that moment.”

On the constant attention from papaprazzi: “It’s because of this tragedy that there’s more paparazzi. That is hard to be graceful and understanding about… It’s hard to be the man and the woman in that [paparazzi] situation. Heath always used to do that for us.”

Ledger's Oscar To Be Delivered To Ex WIlliams

Heath Ledger's Oscar will be with his daughter Matilda later this month, according to Academy Awards bosses.

The late actor's parents and sister stepped up to accept his posthumous honour at the Oscars on February 22nd, and they told reporters they'd be keeping the Best Supporting Actor prize for some time.

But website GoldDerby.com has revealed Ledger's folks have had a change of heart - and they plan to honour an agreement they made with Academy executives.

The deal suggests Matilda's mother, actress Michelle Williams, will look after her ex-lover's Oscar until her three-year-old daughter turns 18.

Academy spokesperson Leslie Unger told GoldDerby.com, "We expect a representative of the Ledger estate to bring the statuette in so that the engraved plate can be affixed. Soon after that, we expect the statuette to be delivered to Michelle Williams."

The website reveals Ledger's other posthumous acting awards, including his Golden Globe, were sent to the office of his publicist, Mara Buxbaum, who also represents Williams.

There has been no confirmation about what would become of these honors, but Buxbaum has confirmed that agreements made with Oscars bosses and others have been honored. She said, "I can certainly say that guidelines from the Academy or any other organisation have been happily accepted and followed."
