Ugly Betty Stars Support AIDS Walk

Former Ugly Betty stars Michael Urie and Mark Indelicato united on Sunday for the annual AIDS walk in New York.

Openly gay Urie made a speech to kick off the event, which aims to raise money for a number of local AIDS service organisations.

In a post on his Twitter.com page, the actor wrote, "AIDS walk supporters, volunteers, and walkers always blow me away. What a gorgeous morning!"

And Indelicato - who took part in the walk with friends - was delighted to reach the finishing line, updating his Twitter page to read: "We finished!!!!! I feel so fulfilled right now."

Ugly Betty: Justin Comes Out!

Just last night, I enjoyed a second viewing of this Wednesday's Ugly Betty episode which was highlighted by Justin (Mark Indelicato) coming out to his family by dancing with his boyfriend Austin at his mother’s wedding. It was so, so sweet!

Justin’s family looked on lovingly and allowed the teenager to come out on his own terms. It was in contrast to an earlier scene where the family found out about Austin through Hilda’s fiance, Bobby, who had seen the two boys kissing.

Hilda calls Betty and says excitedly: “Betty! Justin’s got a boyfriend!” The family then plans a surprise coming out party: “This one of the most important things that will ever happen to Justin and he needs to know that we accept him.”

Ignacio excitedly shows Betty the “starter kit” with info on PFLAG and GSLEN. (Sometimes I wonder about Ignacio himself, 'cause he's always so "gay" on the show.)

Anyway...Mark (Michael Urie) bursts in and tells them Justin might not be ready and says to the Suarez clan that Justin will come out when he comes out.

The episode also featured the return of Henry (Christopher Gorham) which is always such a treat.

But Henry and Betty both realize that the timing is not right for them to resume their relationship after Henry gets a job and is returning to New York. But they are going to remain friends. It is Daniel who Betty might have a future with at this point as he begins to finally realize that Betty really is his true love.

It was also fun to see Mark set up with a soap actor played by Bryan Batt who may end up being Amanda’s father!

But the final scene with Wilhelmina, Claire and Tyler (Neal Bledsoe) is one cliffhanger which we will never forget. Especially the look on Wilhelmina's face when Tyler pull the trigger to the gun he took from her home.

Who was shot? Well, we will have to watch next week's final episode of Ugly Betty to find out. I think it was Wilhelmina...but she's probably not dead!

Mark Indelicato Weeps Over Final Ugly Betty Scenes

Actor Mark Indelicato had to be comforted by castmates on the New York set of Ugly Betty after breaking down as he filmed his final scenes on the show.

The star, who was just 11 years old when he landed the role of Justin Suarez on the TV comedy, was left devastated earlier this year when ABC TV executives announced they were axing the series.

And taking to the set for the last time on Wednesday was an emotional experience for Indelicato.

In a post on his Twitter.com blog, he wrote, "Today is my last day ever as Justin Suarez. Only have been on set for an hour and already crying. Standing outside of the Suarez house."

But the 15 year old looks back on his time with the show fondly - and is already looking to the future.

He adds, "Well this is it. I have discovered not only a character in this process of Ugly Betty, but I have discovered myself. With these amazing talented people I have shared so many memories and experiences that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

"I don't look at this as a sad thing, I look at this as a stepping stone. I am so proud of this show and proud to say that I was and always was a part of it. The friends I made will last me a lifetime and so will this experience. I love my cast and crew but most of all I love the fans of Ugly Betty."

Ugly Betty Stars Struggle With Final Scenes

Actors Mark Indelicato and Michael Urie are struggling to bid farewell to Ugly Betty as they film their final scenes for the hit TV show.

The pair was left stunned when ABC executives announced in January that the sitcom's current fourth season will be its last. And as they both step on set for the last time this week, the stars admit they're still coming to terms with the sad news.

Indelicato writes on his personal Twitter.com page, "Can't believe that tomorrow is the second to last day of shooting. This rain is saying something about the end of Ub (Ugly Betty).

"Just realised that I don't have a job in 2 days.......okay. Actually, I haven't Just realised this, I just keep realising it over and over again."

Urie adds, "Tomorrow morning is my last Ugly Betty scene evah (ever)! Think if I don't show up, it'll mean they can't cancel us....?"

The finale of Ugly Betty will air on April 14th.

Ugly Betty's Mark Indelicato Lands Teen Vogue Job

Ugly Betty star Mark Indelicato has landed an internship at Teen Vogue - and he's hoping to document his time at the famous fashion magazine in a new reality TV show.

The 15 year old is set to take up a trainee position at the junior style bible when the hit comedy series comes to an end this spring.

And Indelicato is urging TV bosses offer him a new deal - because his job will be worth documenting.

He tells New York Magazine, "I want to have a reality show about it. My boss said he's determined to make me cry. He said it makes good TV."

Will Teenaged Justin on “Ugly Betty” Come Out?

The Advocate has posted a new interview with Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta where he talks about Justin’s (portrayed by Mark Indelicato) journey and a host of other things related to this wonderful show which, thankfully, is being moved from its current dead-end Friday time slot to Wednesday nights starting on January 6th.

I recently re-watched the pilot and was again struck by how breakthrough the character of Justin was in terms of being a young, unapologetically femme character. Can you talk a little bit about casting Mark Indelicato and how you direct a young actor to play gay?
Well, Justin was written as an effeminate eleven or twelve year old – I think that’s what the stage direction said – and Mark came in and did such a good job at the audition. He just nailed it. He took it beyond being just a punch line – he made it a real character and a real performance. That was one of the great early surprises on the show. He was so young coming in so you really don’t know what he’s going to be capable of over the course of the series. He’s been terrific.

This season, Justin is sadly the target of bullies at his less-than-queen-friendly Queens high school. Were you a bullied at school for being gay?
I wasn’t a target of that kind of bullying, no. Nothing that bad.

Michael Urie’s character Marc St. James advises Justin to be in on the bully’s joke. Did you ever get that kind of advice?
That wasn’t specific advice that I got but I know that concept came from the writers’ room.

Were you lucky enough to have a Marc-like mentor in your early life?
No.

Can you talk to me about the creative decision to have Justin announce “I’m not gay” in the recent episode “Backseat Betty?”
We want to tell a story of Justin coming to terms with his identity over the course of this whole year and I think when he says that, it’s really the beginning of telling the story, as opposed to the end. It gives us a place to go to. He’s gonna be struggling with his identity and that’s part of it that’s very realistic and relatable. Not really knowing who you are or what you are.
