Together We Are One - The Idol WInners

As a farewell to "Idol creater" Simon Cowell, seven of the eight Idol winners performed Together We are One. It was great to see Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks and Kris Allen perform, along with many of the other Idol finalists this tribute to Simon Cowell.

Missing in action was Idol winner David Cook who was involved in a prior charity engagement and was unable to attend.

We'll miss Simon!

Jordin Sparks to Play Lead in Broadway Show

American Idol alum Jordin Sparks is heading to Broadway! The singer has signed on to play the lead character Rosario in the Grammy-winning musical In the Heights starting in August, and she admits the role will be a "dream" for her.

Sparks said in a statement: "It's always been one of my dreams to perform on Broadway. This is a brand new experience for me. I look so forward to spending time in New York City and joining this talented cast and my favorite new musical."

The 12-week run will play through until November 14th.

Jordin revealed her nerves about the role on Twitter, saying her heart was racing when she met the director. She wrote: "Toured the theatre 4 In The Heights! Spoke w/ the director, saw backstage and where my dressing room will be. My heart wouldnt stop pounding!!"

In the Heights tells the tale of a Dominican family living in New York who become the focus of neighborhood admiration when their daughter begins attending college.

Jordin is currently taking part in a 44-date US tour which began on May 1st and finishes in early August.

Last night we had the pleasure of listening to a new generation of "Divas" at the resurrected VH1 Divas Live concert.

Jordin Sparks has released the music video to her latest (and very infectious) hit song, “S.O.S..” The song includes snippets of the 1983 hit "Let the Music Play" by Shannon. This song is sure to become a hit for Jordin.

The 19-year-old singer will be performing at the 2009 VH1 Divas special which will also feature Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson. The special will air at 9:00 pm (ET) on Thursday, September 17 on VH1.

Music Video: “Battlefield” by Jordin Sparks

Check out Jordin Sparks’ new music video for her hit song “Battlefield,” off her sophomore CD by the same name, scheduled to be released on July 21st.

“To me, the title Battlefield is about strength and perseverance,” Jordin explains about the album and song title. “Things can go from good to bad in an instant, it could be family, friendship or work; and my favorite line in the song is, ‘you better go and get your armor,’ because it’s telling you to be prepared for that time so that you can overcome it.”

The Battlefield video was directed by Philip Andelman in Los Angeles last month. Check it out below!
