Mamma Mia! The Jersey Shore Cast Heads to Italy

How do you say "gym, tan, laundry" in Italian?

The cast of Jersey Shore is heading to Italy for season 4 of MTV's hit show, the network announced Tuesday.

"While the stateside Jersey Shore locales have become iconic for our audience ... Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us," MTV's Chris Linn said in a statement. "The cast is headed to the birthplace of the culture they love and live by. We can't wait to see what erupts as a result."

Amid their inevitable shenanigans, the gang – which in season 3 includes Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio, Jenni "JWOWW" Farley, Vinnie Guadagnino, Ronnie Magro, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola – will leave "the boardwalk behind for the piazzas," "trade gorillas for Italian stallions" and, according to the statement, drop in on Vinny's Italian relatives for a famous Guadagnino family dinner.

"Ohh I Love Italy This Time A Yeahhh," Pauly D Tweeted Tuesday.

Adds Snooki: "Just heard the most amazing news!"

With a whole new country before them where they can create embarrassing moments, one thing we'd love to see is how The Situation's abs stack up compared to the classic competition of Michelangelo's statue of David, on display in Florence.

The next season is set to begin production in the spring in Europe and will air later this year, MTV says.

Barbara Walters Reveals Her 2010 Picks for 'Most Fascinating People'

From the queen of Hollywood to a princess in waiting, Barbara Walters has revealed eight of the 10 names on her 2010 Most Fascinating People list.

Sandra Bullock and Kate Middleton are joined on the list by Justin Bieber, Betty White, LeBron James, Sarah Palin, new American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez and the cast of Jersey Shore.

As usual, Walters won't divulge the final names – or the overall Most Fascinating Person – until the special airs December 9th at 10:00 pm (ET).

Middleton was a prescient choice, having reportedly been selected for the list before word of her engagement to Prince William broke this month.

Palin, meanwhile, makes a return appearance, having been featured on Walters's 2009 list as well.

Walters has chosen a woman as her overall Most Interesting Person in each of the past five years: Michelle Obama (2009), Tina Fey (2008), J.K. Rowling (2007), Nancy Pelosi (2006) and Camilla Parker Bowles (2005).

Will Lady Gaga make the cut? Or will she go with the cast of Glee? Who is your top guess for 2010?

The Situation's Book Cover

Reality star, dancer, and now author – is there anything Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino can't do? (Or anywhere he won't flash his abs?)

The Jersey Shore star and former Dancing with the Stars contestant has a new book coming out. Titled Here's the Situation: A Guide to Creeping on Chicks, Avoiding Grenades, and Getting in Your GTL on the Jersey Shore, the cover features, shockingly, a photo of a grinning Sorrentino flashing his famous abs.

The book is published by Gotham and will released on November 2nd.

The Situation may be the first author to come out of Jersey Shore, but his costar, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, is following in his footsteps, with plans to write a book of her own.

The deal comes a day after castmate Jeni Farley, aka J-Woww, was offered $400,000 to take her clothes off for Playboy.

Playgirl spokeswoman Danielle Nardicio tells Life & Style magazine, "We would offer Vinny $30,000 plus a portion of the proceeds."

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino: I’m the Underdog on Dancing with the Stars

The season 11 cast of Dancing With the Stars was just announced and there’s already a situation: Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is officially an underdog.

Because he’s still in production for his MTV show, he’s not going to get to rehearse as much with his professional dance partner, who will be announced today.

“I’m going to lose a couple days practice,” Sorrentino said in a recent interview. “But I don’t mind being the underdog. I promise to try my hardest and practice as much as I can and be the best that I can be. I hope the Situation Nation shows up to support me.”
And that includes his beach buddies.

“I have a ticket or two reserved for Pauly D. and Snooki,” says Sorrentino, who was nearly speechless when he was asked to dance in America’s most popular ballroom.

“It’s pretty unbelievable for me to be on one of the biggest shows on MTV to one of the biggest shows on TV,” he says, noting that fans of his beach show need not worry that he’s going to alienate them.

“There’s enough Situation to go around,” he says. “The Situation has mass appeal.”

True Blood & Jersey Shores Hit High Ratings!

As summer nears the end, cable's hottest seasons were really scorching last week.

HBO's "True Blood" and MTV's "Jersey Shore" both hit series highs, while rookie dramas "Covert Affairs" on USA and "Rizzoli and Isles" on TNT continue to impress. Also looking good were the likes of Bravo's "Real Housewives of New Jersey" and E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."

Overall, it was live events like the Emmys and preseason football that helped settle the weekly rankings. CBS, NBC and Fox all tied for first place among adults 18-49 with a 1.8 rating/6 share, followed by Univision (1.4/5), ABC (1.3/4) and top cabler USA (1.0/3).

CBS, whose "Big Brother" is having a great summer, edged past NBC to win among adults 25-54 (2.3/7 to 2.2/6) and also made it 10 straight weeks as primetime's most watched network overall (6.6 million to NBC's 6.4 million).

At HBO, the season's penultimate episode of "True Blood" surged to a 3.2 rating/9 share in adults 18-49 and drew 5.44 million viewers overall -- standing as primetime's No. 3 program (and No. 1 series) for the week in adults 18-49.

This is especially impressive considering that HBO is available in less than one third of the country. Also, its Sunday timeslot put it up against the only two telecasts to rate higher for the week: NBC's coverage of the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards (4.1/12 in 18-49, 13.50m) and Fox's special preseason NFL game between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers (3.7/11, 10.13m).

The Emmys improved by a smidge vs. last year in total viewers to hit a four-year high; and apparently boosted by fans of 19-time nominee "Glee," the kudocast hit a five-year high in female teens (2.3/9).

MTV's reality skein "Jersey Shore" (3.0/9, 5.82m) racked up another high, placing fifth for the week in 18-49 and first in women 18-34 (5.5/18).

At USA, "Covert Affairs" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 5.87m) again built nicely on its "White Collar" lead-in (1.3/4, 4.60m). And the net scored even bigger with its Thursday combo of "Burn Notice" (2.1/6, 6.29m) and "Royal Pains" (1.8/5, 6.08m), which aired their summer finales.

TNT rookie "Rizzoli and Isles" (1.6/5, 6.73m) continues to mesh well with its lead-in from "The Closer" (1.4/4, 7.05m), matching or besting the vet in both 18-49 and 25-54. "Closer" still stood as cable's most-watched program overall.

Also performing well in crowded timeslots on cable were Monday's "Real Housewives of New Jersey" on Bravo (1.7/5, 3.36m) and Sunday's "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" on E! (1.9/5, 3.57m).

ESPN moved up to second in 18-49 for the week among cablers thanks to preseason NFL action on both Monday (1.8/5 in 18-49, 5.06m for Arizona-Tennessee) and Thursday (2.1/6, 5.73m for Indianapolis-Green Bay).

CBS improved its weekend standing by airing a pair of its own NFL exhibition games, winning Friday with its San Diego-New Orleans matchup (1.8/7 in 18-49, 5.94m) and dominating Saturday with Dallas-Houston (2.2/8, 6.44m).

The Eye's "Big Brother" also had another big week, with all three editions making the top 10. Wednesday's installment racked up the best 18-34 score for the franchise since 2007 (2.6/10), and Sunday's seg -- airing opposite the Emmys -- surged to the show's best delivery on the night since its spring edition in 2008.

NBC's "America's Got Talent," which ranked fourth for the week in 18-49 (3.1/9), and trailed only the Emmys among total viewers.

ABC, without football or any event programming, was led by Tuesday's "Wipeout" (2.7/9 in 18-49, 7.98m).

'Dancing with the Stars' Now with 100% More Abs

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was unofficially confirmed as the reason people will tune into the new season of Dancing with the Stars.

Widely regarded by the cast of Jersey Shore as the worst dancer of the group, the Situation will have to up his game to impress the show's tough judges.

After OK! magazine reported the news Monday, the LA Times also reported that sources close to the show are confirming that Dancing with the Stars has a Situation on its hands. While ABC doesn't officially confirm anyone until Tom Bergeron makes the announcement, Hills star Audrina Patridge, R&B artist Brandy and retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner are all expected to appear on the show in the fall season.

Unaware of the news, Dancing with the Stars pro Derek Hough told OK! magazine on Sunday that Mike would be a great personality for the show.

"It’s people like that who come on the show who people will tune in and watch because either it will be a travesty or it will be interesting to see somebody turn something completely around so I’m up for anybody. For me it’s classic entertainment, it’s fun. Whatever gets people talking and tuning in is interesting to watch."

The official cast annoucement will be made next Monday during ABC's "Bachelor Pad".

Jersey Shore‘s Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino Could Earn $5 Million This Year

The Situation has no problems when it comes to the compensation.

One of the breakout stars of MTV’s smash hit Jersey Shore, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is busily, and effectively, turning his drama into dollar signs. Between his MTV salary, endorsement deals, his own branded products and other media opportunities, Sorrentino, 29, could earn as much as $5 million by the end of this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The abs-flaunting Sorrentino is raking in close to $60,000 per episode in salary, and between $15,000 and $50,000 per event for appearances. He also has endorsement deals with Vitaminwater, Reebok and an unnamed vodka brand; will front a clothing line with Dilligaf and a line of chewable supplements with GNC; has released his own fitness video; and has partnered with Gotham Books to write his autobiography.

Oh, and he also has a “GTL” app and a rap song on iTunes, and has been in talks regarding several big-screen projects.

It’s all part of a carefully orchestrated plan. “We are really excited about all the opportunities coming Mike’s way,” says his manager, Mike Petolino of Gotham Entertainment. “He has been able to secure many endorsement deals, business opportunities and additional television offers based on the success of the show. Our goal has always been to try to build a brand if the situation presented itself.”

‘The Situation’ Wants to Take His Good Looks (and Abs) to the Silver Screen

Mike Sorrentino thinks he’s living a “fairy tale” and that his current situation — starring on a hit reality show — is too much for words, though he managed to find some anyway.

“Maybe it’s the abs or maybe it’s the green eyes,” the Jersey Shore star, nicknamed ‘The Situation,’ said at Las Vegas’s Sugar Factory. “The Situation does look pretty good on TV, so maybe that’s what it is.”

Recently, Sorrentino announced that he has partnered with Dilligaf clothing company to launch a couture line.

“He’s got a lot going on. He’s got a clothing line, songs, he’s all over the place,” Sorrentino said, in the third person, of his upcoming projects. “I’ll congratulate ‘The Situation’ myself. He’s doing pretty good.”

In Las Vegas to celebrate his 28th birthday at Hard Rock Hotel’s Rehab Pool Party, Sorrentino said he’s living the dream right now, though he plans on moving on from reality TV eventually.

“This is just a way into the door for me,” he said. “Reality is a stepping stone for me. Being one of the biggest names in reality or the country or the world or whatever, I definitely want to start moving into scripted and films in another year or two.”

Season 2 of Jersey Shore premieres July 29th at 10:00 pm (ET) on MTV.

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino & Other “Jersey Shore” Dudes Featured in Village Voice Queer Issue

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has no problem being featured on the cover of Village Voice’s queer issue as long as he looks good!

And, he does.

The cover image of he and castmates Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Vinny Guadagino appears under the headline “The Guido Ideal” but the story about them inside the issue is simply about the show’s second season.

The Situation posted photos from the shoot on his Facebook page and writes: It’s not for me to judge somebody’s sexual preference and in my opinion the SitUaTIoN looks good as hell and that is my main concern. It just so happens that The SitUaTiON has mass appeal and happily reaches a very broad audience – This is not my first cover and definitely not my last.

Mike had previously said he is flattered that gay men have crushes on him: “I’ll be honest, I like the attention.”

E! Online tracked down Guadagino for reaction to the cover and he said: “I don’t give a s–t, man. I’ve done so many photoshoots and they’re pretty much all the same. I go in there, do my thing, take my shirt off, get my hair and my make-up done and they dress me. I take the pictures and wherever they end up, they end up.”

Ronnie on riding Bar: “Some of us were dancing with Bar Refaeli. I curled her, bench-pressed her. She liked it.”

Ronnie on the show’s celeb fans: Kanye West’s girlfriend, Amber Rose, says I’m her favorite on the show. Did a Sweet Sixteen with Fat Joe. I met “E” from Entourage [Kevin Connolly]. So far my favorite was Fat Joe.”

Pauly D on his celeb fans: “Lindsay Lohan, Ashton Kutcher. Diddy’s a fan. I heard Denzel Washington’s a fan. Lindsay’s cool. When we went to the club, she pulled me aside and said, ‘Pauly D! I love your show.’ We were hanging out with her mother [Dina Lohan].”

Ronnie on Italian-American groups and celebs wanting to cancel the show including Alyssa Milano: “Look at who you have: You have UNICO [the Italian-American service organization]. No one even knew who UNICO was until we came around. Alyssa Milano? What’s the last thing she’s done, Who’s the Boss? It’s like, who’s the boss, now, Alyssa? (laughs) Any publicity is good publicity. They gave us an opportunity; they put us on the news. It made people want to watch us. We got five million viewers.”

SoFLa Local: Where Has the Jersey Shore Cast Been Hanging out in South Beach?

Pump your fists, Jersey Shore fans!

The cast of MTV’s reality hit is on the loose in South Beach — and filming is underway on their follow-up season.

After arriving in town Saturday, stars of the show have worked out in a local gym, hung at the beach and mixed with locals on Miami’s famed Ocean Drive.

Dressed in their Jersey Shore finest, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “JWOWW” Farley and their costars partied at Ocean’s 10, an American-style sports bar that stretches between two hotels, the Edison and the Breakwater. There, they ate and drank colorful frozen drinks, laughing up a storm, according to an onlooker.

“They were here twice yesterday, for lunch and dinner, while shooting a segment of their reality show,” a source at the restaurant tells PEOPLE. “They loved the venue and all had a great time.”
Still, they may be only warming up in Miami, according to another source, who said they so far seemed to keep to themselves.

“They sat at a rectangle table and seemed to be in a bubble all of their own,” the source says. “They were nice and chatty but definitely did not get out of their own comfort zone. They need to get used to South Beach where people of all different backgrounds converge and chill. Time will tell.”

'Jersey Shore' Moving to South Beach

Goodbye New Jersey, and hello Miami. MTV is moving 'Jersey Shore' to South Beach for its second season, according to Movieline.

Snooki, The Situation and the rest of the gang will head to Florida for round two of their gym, tanning and laundry sessions, at the bargain price of $10,000 each an episode.

Before producers settled on Miami, speculation of where the cast would end up included summer hot spot the Hamptons, on Long Island, among other destinations.

New Jersey State Senator Joseph Vitale is glad the show and cast are gone from his state. "It's good news for us, but bad news for wherever they end up going," he told PopEater on Monday.

"If they are indeed moving to Miami, I feel badly for Miami. I don't care how they live their lives and what they do, but when they insult people and Italian-Americans, it is pretty reprehensible. In New Jersey, we are proud of the products we export, but this is not one we are proud of," he added.
