While many of the early acts on America’s Got Talent‘s semi-final competition buckled under the pressure Tuesday, the electrifying moment of the night came at the end with Prince Poppycock, whom Sharon Osbourne dubbed the “male Lady Gaga.”
Without a doubt, the outrageous performer was Tuesday night’s favorite of all three judges and the studio audience. His strong voice, outlandish costumes and sheer creativity made him the “superstar” of the night, according to judge Piers Morgan.
“He’s different every time because that’s his thing,” Morgan says. “He’s so creative.” Osbourne, who said last week that her daughter Kelly is a huge Prince Poppycock fan, added that his “creativity is unstoppable and stunning.”
“I bow down to him,” she said.
It was also a very strong night for singer Michael Grimm, despite his battling strep throat and dehydration earlier in the week. The Mississippi singer and songwriter performed the moving tune “Leave Your Hat On.” Judge Howie Mandel compared Grimm’s voice to legendary musicians Michael Bolton and Joe Cocker.
“He’s real and soulful,” Mandel told People magazine. “I can’t hear enough of him. When he sings, it doesn’t seem as if he’s trying to win a contest. He’s got his own Southern soul.”
Morgan predicts Grimm will be a shoo-in for the finals. One act he isn’t sure can kick it up a notch, though, is mini dance duo Future Funk. “They’ll probably get through anyways because they’re so cute,” Morgan says. “They’re great fun, but they’re not world-class dancers like Anna and Patryk.”
Next week, 12 more semi-final acts will perform, including Alice Tan Ridley, Jackie Evancho and Fighting Gravity.
America's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan is reportedly in talks to take over Larry King's talk show.
The veteran broadcaster's program, Larry King Live, has experienced a slump in ratings over the last year and bosses at the CNN network are said to be discussing a replacement for the 76 year old.
And Morgan - who fronts his own series, Piers Morgan's Life Stories, in the U.K. - is reportedly in negotiations to take on the role.
A source tells Britain's Daily Mail, "CNN bosses have been desperately searching for somebody to revamp the show. Larry's ratings are massively down year on year – and Piers is just the man.
"Piers is utterly thrilled by the prospect of the deal and knows that taking over the Larry King show means that something will have to give. America's Got Talent finishes in mid-September, so it seems Larry will be moved to a weekend show then and be ousted from his nightly prime-time slot.
"Piers has discussed it all with Simon Cowell, who gave him his big break on America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent, and has his blessing."
Comedian Howie Mandel will replace former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff as a judge on reality show America's Got Talent.
The funnyman will join rock matriarch Sharon Osbourne and British journalist Piers Morgan on the hit TV show when it returns for its fifth season later this year, according to Life & Style magazine.
Hasselhoff announced his departure from America's Got Talent last Wednesday, revealing he was moving on to work on his own programme.
He said in a statement, "It's been a rewarding experience and now I'm thrilled to be able to follow my dream to do my own TV show, which will be announced very shortly."
Mandel's new role on America's Got Talent marks his return to TV screens after game show Deal Or No Deal, which he presented, was cancelled early last year.
David Hasselhoff is saying goodbye to America’s Got Talent after four years as a judge with Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne.
Hasselhoff, 57, said, “I am proud that I was part of making America’s Got Talent the No. 1 rated show for the past four summers. It’s been a rewarding experience and now I’m thrilled to be able to follow my dream to do my own TV show, which will be announced very shortly.”
Hasselhoff adds, “I want to thank my friend, (executive producer) Simon Cowell, and everyone at NBC and Fremantle for the opportunity for four great years.”
Details of his new project have not been released.
A statement from NBC says, “David’s been an integral part of the success of America’s Got Talent and we are sad to see him go. We wish him all the best with his new show.”
NBC sources say that they will be looking for a new judge to fill Hasselhoff’s seat when the show resumes next summer for the fifth season, but no names have been cited as potential replacements.
Her first dream – winning Britain's Got Talent – didn't come through. But nothing will keep Scottish singing phenom Susan Boyle's second wish – to perform in America – from coming true.
Boyle, 48, is taking some time off from completing her album, due on November 24th, to jet across the Atlantic and perform in the States next week. She will appear on the America's Got Talent finale on September 16th.
To prepare for the show, the songstress from the small town of Blackburn in West Lothian, Scotland, has had two fittings this week at the up-market store Suzanne Neville in Beauchamp Place, London.
"It's going to be sensational, really wow. But it's obviously under wraps," a rep for the designer says. "Susan was very excited when she came into the store about her performance and about the dress. She's going to look amazing."
Her American appearance will build on the remarkable buzz around her. She has already shown her career's enormous potential, as the I Dreamed A Dream album has topped the Amazon.com's pre-order charts.
Boyle is still working on her upcoming album and has recorded the Madonna song "You'll See." She is thought to have chosen the song herself.
Her collection will also likely include tunes such as the Les Miserables hit that made her such an overnight sensation on Britain's Got Talent. She eventually finished second in the contest.

HBO's latest dramady, follows the adventures and of a simple man, who is decidedly er, 'well hung,' and is determined to make it work to his advantage. Coming to term with his physiological gift is only the first step. "I've got a big dick, now what do I do with it?" We will certainly find out.

The breakout star of Britain’s Got Talent, who captured the attention of the entire world when her video of her audition went viral, has been invited to perform on the U.S. version of the show.
America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan spoke with reporters Tuesday and said the Scottish songstress is welcome to perform on the NBC talent competition.
“If she’s up for it and she is well enough,” said Morgan, “our feeling is she probably will [appear on AGT]. Absolutely!”
Boyle, who was briefly hospitalized for exhaustion in a clinic in London after she landed in second place on the British competition, has returned to performing, and Simon Cowell, who produces both the American and British versions of the show, plans to bring her to the American stage, Morgan said.
“Susan singing live to 25 million Americans? That would be great!” Morgan said, adding that, “she still gets a bit tired sometimes, but she is 48.” Performing in America would be a good match, according to her brother John Boyle, who said that 95 percent of his sister’s fan mail comes from the U.S.
