Beloved soap Dallas is to be updated for the small screen after efforts to turn the project into a major movie failed.
John Travolta and Jennifer Lopez were both attached to the film project, but now the entire idea has been scrapped - and instead, Dallas will be heading back to TV.
Network bosses at America's TNT have reportedly warmed to the pilot episodes of the updated Dallas and there are now plans to air them for fans.
Executive producer Cynthia Cidre, who tasted success as the writer of acclaimed film The Mambo Kings, plans to bring back the Ewings of Southfork in the oil-rich saga of family scandal and betrayals.
Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, Victoria Principal and Linda Gray starred in the original series. It is not known if any of the original cast will be returning for the revamp.
Dallas star Victoria Principal has settled a lawsuit with a former maid who accused the actress of pointing a gun at her.
Maribel Banegas claimed Principal fired her and threatened to shoot her after she allegedly took too long to walk her pet dog Mei-Ling.
In court documents filed last May, Banegas claimed assault, false imprisonment and emotional distress and called for unspecified damages.
Principal fought back with her own lawsuit filed against the worker, who she claimed was fired after damaging a door at her home, injuring her dog and demanding money from the actress.
According to http://www.tmz.com/, Banegas wrote a letter of apology to her former employer, which was attached to the settlement.
The letter reads: "I can now understand why you felt that I was threatening to you, which, in turn, led you to defend yourself."
Banegas also apologised for "any unintentional injury to your little dog, Mei-ling".
Terms of the settlement are confidential.

Former Dallas star Victoria Principal has signed up to take a ride in the world's first commercial passenger spacecraft, the VSS Enterprise, which was unveiled Monday in the Mojave Desert by space pioneers Sir Richard Branson and Burt Rutan.
"Going into space fulfills many desires I have of seeing the planet, going fast, going someplace very few people have been – and hopefully coming back down!" Principal said in a recent interview.
The actress, who is also a skin-care magnate and an amateur race car driver, says space travel has always been her fantasy. She wrote a TV movie script 30 years ago about the first female astronaut, before there even was such a thing, and two of her favorite movies are 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Right Stuff.
At $200,000 per ticket, the Enterprise is the world's most expensive day trip. The two-pilot, six-passenger craft will be carried to the edge of space by a carrier plane, much like the space shuttle. Passengers will see the curvature of the planet and experience weightlessness.
Virgin Galactic, a company within Branson's Virgin Group, hopes to begin testing the craft early next year, with the first flights to begin in 2011.
Principal, 59, says she's frustrated that the first passengers will be chosen randomly, since she was the third person to buy a ticket – and the first woman to sign up.
"I'm a passenger in something that is pioneering," Principal says. "This will become to our great-grandchildren what Wilbur and Orville Wright were to you and me."
