Charlie's Angels Pilot Greenlit by ABC!

It’s on: Charlie’s Angels just got officially greenlit as a pilot at ABC.

This move has been long expected, but now the project is firmly moving forward, along with Smallville writer-producers Miles Millar and Al Gough. The new modern-day version of the show will be set in Miami.

The producers (Leonard Goldberg, Drew Barrymore, Nancy Juvonen), Sony Pictures TV and Flower Films will now dive into casting to figure out the tricky task of finding TV’s new Angels. We hear there’s an offer out to Mark Piznarski (Gossip Girl) to direct.

Remakes have traditionally struggled to find viewers on broadcast, though CBS’ showed with Hawaii Five-0 that you can pull off a primetime hit with a classic title. And Angels is certainly on-brand for a network that has a strong female following with shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.

CBS Extends Season for All New Fall TV Shows

If you had any doubt that CBS was enjoying a successful fall season, this next sentence should make you a believer: The Eye net has extended full-season orders to all five of its freshman series.

For the record, the winning quintet includes Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, Mike & Molly, The Defenders, and $#*! My Dad Says.

Of the five, Mike & Molly and Five-0 have emerged as the net’s biggest new hits — although the latter is beginning to look vulnerable on Mondays-at-10. The older-skewing Blue Bloods is Friday’s top show (and that’s among new and returning series), while $#*! continues to retain an acceptable percentage of its Big Bang lead-in on Thursdays. Lastly, The Defenders is holding its own on Wednesdays-at-10.

CBS Wins First Week of New 2010-11 TV Season

Thanks to strong premieres by Hawaii Five-O and Blue Bloods and the return of Big Bang Theory, CBS won the first week of the TV season in viewers (12.5 million) and adults 18-49 (3.3 rating/10 share). CBS had 13 of the top 20 shows among viewers and adults for the week ending September 26th, more than on any other network. Hawaii Five-O (14.2 million) currently stands as the most-watched new program in viewers while $#*! My Dad Says is the No. 1 new comedy among adults 18-49 (4.0 rating). Each 18-49 ratings point represents 1.31 million viewers.

CBS won five nights of the week in viewers (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) and three nights among adults 18-49 – more than any other network. The network is also up 6% in viewers, 3% in adults 18-49 and 10% among adults 18-34 versus the same period last year.

ABC finished second for the week in viewers (9.58 million), followed by NBC (8.15 million) and Fox (6.52 million). NBC and ABC tied for second place among adults 18-49 (2.8/8), while Fox came in third (2.6/7). Fox won the week among adults 18-34 with a 2.6/8.

Given how DVR usage by TV watchers is at 38% right now – up from 33% from last fall – the networks expect the playback rate to have an impact on ratings beyond same-day viewing. The results won’t be available for another week, however, so stay tuned to find out just how many of you delayed viewing of, say, Lone Star or The Event.

Fall TV Premieres: Monday, September 20th

Today marks the official start of the 2010/2011 Fall TV season premieres. There are plenty of new and old shows premiering tonight, including the return of "Dancing with the Stars" and the updated version of "Hawaii Five-O".

FEATURED SPOTLIGHT: "Lone Star"

In the provocative premiere of FOX's "Lone Star", Bob Allen has been raising a Texas con man, drifting through life until he falls in love for real - twice. Now he wants to go straight, without losing either woman, or the worlds they live in (respectively, an oil-rich dynasty in Dall, and a tight-knit small town in Midland).

The show stars James Wolk as Robert/Bob Allen, Eloise Mumford (Lindsay), David Keith (John Allen), Adrianne Palicki (Cat), Marek Deklin (Trammell), Bryce Johnson (Drew), and Jon Voight (Clint).

"Lone Star" has been billed as FOX's newest hit on TV.

CBS Books Updated "Hawaii Five-O"

Surf's up for a new "Hawaii Five-O."

CBS has given a pilot commitment to an updated version of the classic cop series from feature screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and "CSI: NY" executive producer Peter Lenkov.

There aren't many details on the trio's take on the procedural, which chronicled the workings of the fictional Hawaiian state police department led by Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord). The original series, created by Leonard Freeman, ran on CBS from 1968-80. It became famous for its opening music and for its "Book 'em, Danno" closing line.

Kurtzman and Orci are co-writing the story for the pilot with Lenkov, who will pen the script itself under their supervision. All three are executive producing.

CBS and CBS Studios, which has the rights to "Hawaii Five-O," first took a stab at developing a contemporary take last year with "Criminal Minds" executive producer/showrunner Ed Bernero.

Kurtzman and Orci, co-creators/executive producers of Fox's sophomore drama "Fringe," know a thing or two about reinvigorating TV series: They wrote the J.J. Abrams-directed blockbuster "Star Trek." Their feature writing credits also include the two "Transformers" movies and "Mission: Impossible III."

Lenkov serves as executive producer/co-showrunner on the CBS crime drama "CSI: NY" alongside Pam Veasey.
