Jim Carrey & Jake Gyllenhaal Set for Damn Yankees

Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal are teaming up for a big screen version of Broadway's baseball musical Damn Yankees.

Stage star-turned-moviemaker Todd Graff is set to direct the movie, which will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron - the men behind Oscar-winning film Chicago.

Graff will adapt Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel's screenplay.

Damn Yankees opened on Broadway in 1955 and ran for well over 1,000 performances.

Jim Carrey to Tackle Satan in Damn Yankees

Jim Carrey already knows what it's like to play God – so now he's getting ready to play the Devil himself.

The Bruce Almighty star is teaming up with Jake Gyllenhaal for a movie version of the Tony-winning musical, Damn Yankees, according to Playbill.

In the film, which will be a more modern take on the '50s classic, Gyllenhaal will portray Joe Boyd, a Yankees fan so desperate to see his baseball team win that he sells his soul to Satan to help the Bronx Bombers take the pennant.

The role of Lola – the hottie with a heart of gold who helps the Devil seduce Joe – hasn't been cast yet, reports Variety.

More details about this Broadway play turned into a motion picture as additional information becomes available.
