Wild Things Run Wild at Box Office

Fantasy film" Where The Wild Things Are" has marched to the top of the U.S. box office, taking $32.5 million in its opening weekend. Director Spike Jonze's adaptation of Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book boasts a castlist including James Gandolfini, Forest Whitaker and Chris Cooper.

The animated adventure easily beat Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler thriller "Law Abiding Citizen" into second place, but the movie - another box office debutant, still managed an impressive $21.3 million.

Low budget horror film "Paranormal Activity" jumped up the chart to third place, taking $20.2 million, ahead of Couples Retreat and The Stepfather, which round out the top five.
