On April 20, 1992, a concert was held to honor Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS-related complications the prior November, and to raise money for research.

Annie Lennox solidified her reputation as one of pop's great female artists that night, giving an urgent and impassioned performance, upstaging David Bowie in the process. “Under Pressure,” the Bowie/Queen single released in 1981, felt more timely than ever.
