American Idol: Top 13 - Results Show

Well, the "real" competition, to determine who wins American Idol 8 this upcoming May, has finally started.

During last night's results show, two (not one) of the Top 13 contestants were eliminated. Unfortunately it was not a big surprise as both eliminated performers did not receive high praises from the judges during Tuesday's live performance show. According to the judges, they both chose songs that did not appeal to a current audience.
Unfortunately, Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nuñez were the two with the lowest votes. I understand why America did not give them the votes they deserved, but I wish Anoop Desai and Megan Joy Corkrey were the ones that would have been eliminated.

Both of them (in my opinion) were the weakest performers and made the wrong choices in their song selections. But well, we can't control America, so I guess they will be around for another week or two (and hopefully just that).

Now speaking of "controlling" America, the Idol judges may NOW change the game with a new twist that was introduced last night.

The judges now have the ability to save one performer (and only one in the entire season) that has the least amount of votes and is ready to be sent home. This twist will change the game as it would avoid performers from being eliminated too early in the game as it happened with Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson and Tamyra Gray in previous seasons. The only catch is that the judges must use their "save" before the Top 5 competition. I personally like the new twist!

Tune in to FOX on next Tuesday at 8 pm (ET) for the 2-hour live performance show, followed by the results show on Wednesday at 9 pm (ET).
